Intriguing game, great pieces
BGG says this is the most complex game to learn. It was a half hour teach from someone else who knew how to play. But I really enjoy this game. There’s so much to learn and do and in colonising a planet. I love Terraforming Mars and this is nothing like that game. You take several actions on the orbital side and different actions when you are on plant. After each players turned the shuttle moves from orbit to planet and back again. As a game advances the shuttle takes longer to go from orbit side to the planet. Each player uses the shuttle for the most part to travel from planet to orbit or back again. This requires you to strategize the timing of actions. So you have to time your actions with the shuttle. The creator of this game put a lot of thought into what would be required to colonize a planet, and I really appreciate how we put that into play. I love the wooden pieces. They well-made and look exactly like their representation so there’s no confusion as to their purpose. The storage trays are well fitted and there’s a place for everything when you’re done. Well, it’s more complex to learn. Once you grasp the order of things, it’s very easy to play. The challenge comes in the strategizing of your actions. I’m getting benefits and points competing with the other players. It is surprisingly short for a game of this type. This game is definitely not for everyone. My hubby doesn’t like it, but my game friends do. If you like compwtitive, strategy games that are pretty to look at, with great tactile pieces, this game is probably for you.

Excellent Euro Game With Deep Strategy
On Mars may be my favorite Euro game I've played thus far. The depth of the strategy in this game is nothing short of amazing. Your overall goal is to complete three shared missions (these change each game), and increase the life support system in orbit. You can finish the game by finishing the missions, maxing out the life support system, or a combination of both. Each player is working towards these goals together, and then you gain points along the way. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins. There's a multitude of ways to gain these points, and they're all interconnected with the actions you can take. You have to watch what other players are working towards, and adjust your strategy accordingly.I just finished my third play through, and this is definitely the most in depth strategy euro game that I've played thus far. There's hardly any luck involved in this game, which is something that I appreciate. However, there is still a ton of variability thanks to having different missions each game, and different private goals each game. I'm not going to do an in depth review if the mechanics of the game, but it plays similar to Underwater Cities by taking actions, and jockeying for a good turn order versus obtaining better benefits for taking your turn later. Check out some YouTube videos of the mechanics for a more in depth review of those. The quality of the materials in this game are top notch. The main board is huge, and the artwork on it is gorgeous. All of the cardboard pieces are very thick and durable. The wooden pieces are great quality as well, and they are screen printed on both sides, which is a nice touch you don't always get. The overall art of the game is spectacular as well. You get a lot of of high quality individual game pieces, and there is an integrated organizer included, which is amazing. That's not something you normally get included in a lot of games.Overall, this is an extremely high quality strategy Euro game that is super fun, and should have a ton of replayability. I've heard it described as a "brain burner," and I'd have to agree. I'd recommend it for people already familiar with strategy Euro games, as the rules and sheer complexity of the game can be intimidating at first and hard to grasp if you're not familiar with similar mechanics. However, if you're willing to dig into the rules and mechanics, you'll be rewarded with a complex, mentally engaging, and deep strategy game that will offer a ton of fun.

A great new spin on an old theme.
This is a mammoth of a board game. Be prepared to spend hours just learning how to set up and make the first move. And I mean all of this in a good way. Once you see how all the moves and actions are interwoven and connected, the light bulb goes off in your head. There are a lot of possibilities and potential combos that can be had in this game. Each new setup also adds another way to start out, due to the tiles being rearranged.I would describe this game as if Scythe and Terraforming Mars had a baby. You’re controlling certain areas, managing resources, managing a player board with actions, like you would in scythe. You’re also collectively building a planet by adding specific tiles, as well as building an engine by where you place your pieces. Some downsides. Solo play can be very fiddly. It is difficult to maintain a strategy, on top of a more complex AI. You’re basically playing a 2P game. Also, this is NOT a game you can bring to the table with casual gamers.

Missing piece
Bought for my bf as a valentines day present. We finally got an opportunity to start setting it up today but have found that we are missing the blue water scientist piece. The quality of the game and all other pieces is great but sad we are missing this one piece.

Board game box came damaged :(
When I first received the board game, I was so excited to open it. As I unraveled the shrinkwrap from the game, I noticed that one of the corners of the box was damaged considering that the game was "New" when purchased. The board game box is definitely durable and high quality. If the game was "New" when purchased, it was definitely handled carelessly for the thick box to arrive damaged. I don't know who's responsible for the damaged box and I wish they took better care of my order. Apart from the damaged box, all of the game components inside were incredible and my first game went splendid! Overall, I'm happy with the purchase, but I wished that my order arrived as promised.
