Great for drilling steel
I use this to enlarge bolt holes in angle iron and definitely are sharp. Better than using a 1/2" bit. I have purchased a second because I hit tool steel with the first one and it slightly dulled it.

Did the job
Had to make a dozen or so 5/16 " holes in 1/8 flat bar. I won't say it was like a hot knife through butter, but with some patience and oil lubrication, it worked. Once the tip pokes through, the step portion of the bit is much faster. I initially tried making the holes with a regular bit, after much trying, I never did make it all the way through the bar. Definitely a keeper.

Very good.
Amazon sent the wrong size but these are awesome for starting holes and great if your using 3/8 allthread etc. We drilled many holes with no issues so far.
