Perfect replacement for side poles, Coleman, Montana 8 person tent
These are high-quality aluminum tent poles. They were easy to assemble.I used two of them to replace my end support poles for my Coleman Montana eight person tent. The poles were thinner than the original poles, but just as strong, and more flexible. Not to mention much lighter than the original fiberglass poles. The Coleman Montana design does not work well with fiberglass poles. I’m glad to have gotten these aluminum poles.

Excellent Replacement Pole Kit for Coleman Red Canyon Tent
I bought these to replace the failed, splintered main tent poles for my Coleman Red Canyon tent. After struggling to identify the correct OEM replacement kit (despite the part number provided in the tent instructions) as well as finding an OEM complete replacement set, I decided to go with this product. Bottom Line: This set is an excellent UPGRADE to the OEM poles. They do the job and then some. I bought the two pole kit to replace both poles. The instructions are adequate, but may be a little confusing if you try to use their methodology for measuring. If you are replacing the poles on the Red Canyon tent, here's what you really need to know: 1) You'll use all the poles. Measuring the OEM poles gave me 238.75"; the pole kit, using the female/female ended configuration, is 240". 2) You'll shave a little on the "B" segment, and a bit less on one of the "A" segment (B segment should be cut 1/2" longer than the A section, according to the instructions. Make sure you make your cuts perpendicular to the pole segment for proper fitment - I used a vice and a Dremel with a small cutting wheel. 3) You'll need to tie some knots on the ends of the cord, then start feeding the pole pieces in. Make sure you're feeding the poles in the correct order and orientation. Check on each step. 4) The lead wire used to feed the cord through each pole segment, as you are building your pole, may get hung up inside the pole - you'll need to make sure the wire is as straight as you can get it. I built these poles this past Friday, and field tested them this past weekend. The hooks on the Red Canyon tent had no issue hooking onto the poles. For anybody looking for replacements for their splintering fiberglass poles, I highly recommend this product.

DIY the perfect summer beachshade!
Heres what you need. Materials: Fabric be bought from Ripstop by the Roll Color A: 5 Yards of 1.1oz or 1.0oz Ripstop Nylon. (UnCalandered) Color B: 5 Yards of 1.1oz or 1.0oz Ripstop Nylon. (UnCalandered) Bag: 1 Yard of any material. I used heavier Ripstop Nylon Gutermann MARA 70 Thread or similar thickness 6in of 1/2 webbing. Tent poles (this listing!) 10ft of 2mm/3mm line Optional: double sided basting tape for holding the hem while sewing Once you have everything together its pretty straight forward to sew. I did double hems and used basting tape to hold it in place before sewing. Even with the added weight of the tape the shade flys beautifully. if I had a serger I would have considered using that instead! Note: this thickness ripstop is the constancy of silk and is very hard to sew, you might need a helper to guide it.

Lightweight and Strong
Works as advertised. The 2 pack of 9 ft poles will create a decent canopy from a USGI poncho.

Works OK, but sockets tend to deform when stressed
These are OK. Assembly is quick and easy, although having to tie a knot in the end of the cord to secure to to the ends of the pole-assembly is problematic. It leaves a lump of cord-knotting at the end, and if you need to thread the pole through any sort of fabric loop, it is problematic. It would be better if the manufacturer came up with a better solution to tying off the cord. Like some other buyers, I also use these for a tent fly sun-shade at the beach. The arch of the bend is not very tight (see pictures), but after a day of use I find that the sections at the apex of the arch are difficult to separate (and sometimes almost impossible to separate). Taking a closer look at the problem, it seems that the metal ends of each pole section are made of a metal that deforms a bit to much for this sort of use. To get the pole sections to separate I have had to bend the poles back slightly until the socket ends go back to a rounder shape, and then the sections can be pulled apart (not easily though). I have only used the poles 5 or 6 times now and I am bit worried that with continued deformation and then having to re-bend the pole sockets, that the pole sockets may fail prematurely. It's too bad because otherwise these are a decent enough pole set.

Great for additional tent support
Perfect application for my sagging side tent which attaches to my teardrop tab trailer. Made some wood disc bases with grommets for floor and keeps my tent from sagging in middle! Not heavy duty but working well for my application.

Solid replacement, good instructions
Good instructions and robust poles. Note, because the poles are aluminum, a pipe cutter is helpful for precise cuts. Can make any length of pole from the supplied packages both male or female ends (as long as your original pole is less than the length of this kit). Instructions are clear. Suggest get a longer total replacement length so you end up with a spare segment for future should you need it. I upgraded to a thicker pole diameter for a more robust replacement as my skinnier original tent poles showed cracks after several years of use.
