Got these 2 devices to beam (Starlink satellite) internet signal from home to another building 500ft away. They work great, now that they are up&running. Was told it was "plug & play", easy to get going. Well, not for me, and I know computer stuff (but not networking, etc). I gave it a good effort on my own. The enclosed teeny-tiny sized 'user guide' was no help, as it assumed you knew some basics of this SSID, Channel, ip addresses environment. The app is kinda ok and includes a wizard setup but, ultimately I think you need to go to your url line and type in ip address for each device and config that way. I learned some stuff watching Youtube videos but really? I just need to know what to put where, in settings. A big shout-out to the Engenius company bc they provide AWESOME customer service! I got desperate and was looking for FAQs and support on their website. For the heck of it, I started a chat in chat-box. And was shocked to get personal assistance from a California-based rep! She ended up scheduling a support phone call with me the next day, and used AnyDesk to remotely config my system. And answer my questions along the way. HIGHLY RECOMMEND you take screenshots of your device setups and have those somewhere for future reference. We had bad lightening storm not long after getting these going, and the Access Point device stopped working. Was so glad I had screenshots.

I was looking for a way to expand my network from my home out to my shed in the back yard, but I didn't want to bury a cable and I didn't want another visible wifi network clogging the airways. I ordered a two-pack of these because they are rated at 867Mbps; and installation, deployment, and setup were a cinch! A few thoughts for those on the fence about this product: - The full 867Mbps transfer rate is what I regularly get, but there is <100 yd between the two points. - These will pass VLAN tags (and jumbo frames) just as if they were an ethernet cable directly connected at each end. - The management interface is a customized version of LuCI (similar to OpenWRT), so configuration is easy. - They are a 24V Passive PoE, and do not negotiate a PoE handshake with a PoE+ injector or switch. If your switch is capable of sending passive 24V, they will work. Otherwise, use the included injectors. They do not play well with 48v Passive. Ask me how I know... Overall, I give these a 10/10.

1st unit setup went fine. Second wouldn't respond to anything. Tried to contact tech support, "that person isn't available"... message and no call back, no help, 5 attenpted calls/messages. FAQ is sparse at best. Manual is AWEFUL. There's no instructions anywhere on how to do a factory reset. The firmware on the unit has a higher number than that available on the web page. Trust those reviews that say "I'm a network engineer and I couldn't figure it out"... because I am a network engineer and couldn't figure it out. Instructions are way outdated, screens are totally different when/if you do get in. Not even a basic cable connection diagram. I've usually got a pretty strong stomach for the off-shore instruction/support model of the modern world, but, this unit is a brick. LED's don't even indicate when it's booting, processing. Can't say enough bad things about this experience. I want my day back! Edit: I did in fact get it to connect through a random process of unplugging/replugging/etc. Got the link established, Showed full strong link within the desired db range. Tried a basic stress test of uploading/downloading. Units lost link about every half hour, no indication other than failed file transfers, no way to access the unit, appears to have frozen, etc. Came back up 10 minutes later once, other times it was just seized till the old power boot. Stable it ain't, user friendly it ain't. In the end it went back to where bad things go. Bought the unit to save the time of trenching in an ethernet line, didn't save time, or effort. Much easier to pull a cable if you can, be it copper or fiber. I would put the concept at last resort level, and then I'd be looking for a company with more than one dude at the help desk, and wouldn't bother if I was relying on it for large data transfers over an extended period of time.

I'm using a pair of these for a run of maybe about 200 feet. But, it's obstructed, with each unit placed *inside* on a windowsill, *parallel* with the window. Yea, it's blasting down the run maybe 2/3 obstructed with the walls of the place, which - by the way - are 1930's solid block. The conditions are so bad, the rssi is only -68. But, I'm still getting 100mbs. That's full capacity of the internet connection I'm trying to share anyway. I don't have anything but a router on the other end, so I don't really even know how fast it could potentially go. These are a definite improvement over the earlier version of the hardware, which got me about 35mbps. The firmware on these is a lot easier to use and understand, and there are very handy features now. They now have a wifi management interface that broadcasts its own 2.4ghz network. You can connect to each AP directly and configure it that way. So you don't have to bother with a direct ethernet connection to each to get them started. And it's great for troubleshooting later. The phone app is very handy too, although the setup of that is a little tricky. It's definitely not an intuitive setup. You're not gonna take these out of the box, aim them at eachother and go. But, there are a ton of videos and how to's online that tell you step by step. It's nothing so complicated, and totally worth it!

I installed this device today and it went pretty smoothly until I got to the point of logging into it to program it. The instructions said to set a static IP on my computer of 192.168.1.20 and then when I brought up a browser, it would immediately go to 192.168.1.1 and the EnGenius login. But I say, Neh Neh! After futzing around for awhile, I finally figured out that it actually picked up an address from my router via DHCP. I had to scan the network to find it, at .102, but after that, I was able to login and program it to my desired configuration, including setting a static IP. I have always loved EnGenius gear and will continue to recommend it. But for this minor glitch in the instructions, I would give it 5 stars. As it is, you would need at least a little bit of network experience to get it going.

I had my reservations on using a WiFi bridge because I was worried about connectivity issues and things of that nature, especially for the price point of this bridge kit. I have to say I've been proven wrong to have had those worries. I am using the bridge to shoot internet connectivity across the street to my workshop where I have a computer that I use for misc research and project files and pictures. I use Acronis True Image to backup that computer to a NAS at my house. The ~3GB backup has NEVER failed. I always have connection at the shop. It's been installed for about 2 months now. One end is at about 20ft in the air and the other at about 15ft with a clear line of site about 600 feet distance. Everytime I've logged into the interface for the Bridge it's always been connected at 867mbps link speed. This is a definite winner of a product especially at this price point. The only thing I ding this on is the user interface. If you are a novice user that has never set anything like this up before it is going to take you some time and research to get it all setup right. But I can assure you that once it is setup correctly, it will provide the closest thing to reliability of a wired connection that you can get for this kind of money. Will most definitely buy again should a need arise for this kind of connection in the future.

I have used nothing but Engenius products for years. When you conbine their routers, switches, and controllers, they work together and can be monitored through apps such as FitExpress and EnWiFi. The customer support is second to none to the point of their techs connecting remotely to help with configuration issues and troubleshooting. If you're tired of replacing equipment every couple of years because it just quit working or became unreliable (as I was), and tired of buying the cheap consumer grade junk in the retail stores, then this is the equipment for you.

My link between the house and the pole barn is quite short, less than 200 feet, but so much easier wirelessly than burying network cable. I had a link before that, a 10 year old Proxim link that was a spare link for a long ago client, that I had to baby to keep working. The new link was very easy to put in and is 16 times faster than the old one. I was able to figure a way out to use the existing mounting hardware from the old link and the cabling was the same. My professional career was built on designing and implementing large wireless networks so I knew the terminology and techniques to best use for the link I needed. Still, it took me a bit of time to make sure that I was doing it properly within the configuration software. There is a nice mix of uses that this bridge can perform, from simple point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and hybrids that are almost mesh-like. So, versatility is the keyword. There was nothing in the software that prevented me to do what I wanted in my multi-VLAN environment. It has been playing well with my switches and router. The cost point is amazing. Under $200US for a link like this. Contrasting the old Proxim link I used to have, the Engenius link comes in at less than 5% the previous cost with 16 times the throughput! I've had the link up and running for three months now without a failure although I do an automatic reboot every couple of days so that the configuration gets reloaded. If I see the link behaving itself in the coming months, I will scale back the auto-reboot to once a week. This link is in northern Michigan so I will be curious to see how it does when it's -15F and the northwest wind is blowing the snow around at 30MPH. Stay tuned.

This review evaluates the “EnJet Outdoor 5GHz AC Wave 2 WiFi 5 Plug-n-Go CPE/Client Bridge” made by ENGENIUS. The product was shipped with no excessive or wasteful packaging and all components were contained snugly in the box. What’s in the box: two (2) 5GHz Wireless Outdoor POE CPE/Client bridge units, two (2) POE adapters, two (2) power cords, two (2) mounting hardware packs, and installation instructions/quick start guide. First impressions: Commercial grade. The fit, finish, and materials used are consistent with robust commercial outdoor networking equipment. The units utilize a fairly small vertical footprint and are unobtrusive when installed. Although we are mainly interested in performance when it comes to network equipment, it is nice for equipment to blend in with its surroundings. There are two options to mount each unit: using the stainless-steel gear clamp provided to a pole or two screw anchors in the back of the unit. Okay, but how does it perform? I will preface this part of my review by saying my main objective of adding this bridge to my network was to join two buildings that are just under 400 feet apart as the crow flies. The elevations of the two buildings are approximately the same with a small valley in between and no major obstructions in the line of sight. This product is marketed as having a 5-mile (8 km) transmission distance; my needed distance is about 122 meters (about 1.5% of the advertised distance). The instructions are ok to read (both in instruction and in printed size) and somewhat straightforward; I am a former IT guy and for me it was ok. I recommend going to the EnGenius website and downloading the detailed owner’s manual and setup instructions FIRST before you do anything. Read them thoroughly and plan out your network carefully, writing down any networking IP addresses from your internet router and other equipment. These devices are preconfigured out of the box to work as an access point (AP) to Bridge, and believe it or not, they will work straight out of the box for a new network being built. This is great if you have a very simple network, however, if you have different subnets and a variety of equipment you have to interface with, you will need advanced networking IT skills and understanding to configure this product. ProTip: First get the units working with the factory defaults before you customize. I set up and configured the two units in a master-slave arrangement as per the directions and edited them using the EnWiFi APP. I tested the units on my workbench at a distance of about 20 feet apart. I had full signal strength and the units worked well with a small amount of routing latency using my laptop to run a downloading simulation. So, I moved on to my intended configuration separating the units by 122m (400ft) by temporarily mounting them outside of each building. ProTip: Set up your units on a temporary post at both locations and run CAT5E cabling on the ground to configure signal strength and mounting locations BEFORE you drill holes and mount things onto buildings. In my case, I used a 10-foot step ladders and taped broom handles to mount my units to. Once I got the strongest signals and the units were communicating properly, I then mounted them permanently onto my buildings drilling holes for the wiring, etc. ProTip: Apply dielectric grease into the POE RJ-45 connector to eliminate any possibility of moisture due to extreme temperature changes from your outdoor climate. After both locations were working, I could work comfortably inside my house from a laptop using the more detailed and customizable web interface. From there I optimized my network to suit my needs. The finalized product was seamless between both buildings; my network and internet were equally fast with negligible latency. The product claims to be IP55 rated which by international standards means that for whatever its purpose or intended market, it can resist exposure to dust with limited ingress, no harmful deposits; and withstands water intrusion by low-pressure water jets from any direction. I did not water test this product because to do it effectively I would have to test it in an outdoor environment for no less than 8 -12 months. I am evaluating this product as part of the Amazon Vine program so I am limited to a 30-day window to submit a review. Only time will tell if this unit has similar longevity and effective service life as other competitive products on the market. Therefore, I am going to monitor this product over the next 8-12 months of use and revise my review should problems arise. Cost-effectiveness and value: Overall I am very satisfied with the product; it provided increased WiFi coverage and signal strength resulting in increased traffic speeds and reduced latency. At a current price of $423.64, I feel that this product is fairly priced for the quality and functionality delivered. In summary: the “EnJet Outdoor 5GHz AC Wave 2 WiFi 5 Plug-n-Go CPE/Client Bridge” made by ENGENIUS is a commercial-grade networking product that wirelessly connects two or more locations; it provides increased traffic speeds and reduced latency resulting in a better networking experience for the user. I would recommend this product without reservation. Esay to install. Good link and speed. The only problem is EnJet; i using CSMACD by default.

This is the product. These units are very easy to setup, install and deploy. Holds the p2p link unfailingly even through all kinds of obstacles (such as a whole building with who knows what's inside it!) admittedly across very short distance (approximately 500 meters). One thing I wish Engenius would do better, is making the firmware check, availability and upgrade a less painful process. I did not deduct a star for it, as for me it was not too much of a big deal (still quite a hassle). I can see how this may not be such an easy task for a non-techie person. If future firmware updates, make the firmware upgrade easier, this would become a near-perfect product. They do have a mobile app, which seems to do better with firmware update process. However, I am not quite there yet in terms of relying on a mobile app to update a critical network infrastructure component! The mobile app is quite easy to use, and easily discovers all Engenius devices it can manage, through a subnet scan.

This is what I found when I opened the box, so I plugged in the power supply and it did not work, This is sad that the product was sent and does not work, I ordered it for a job and will now lose the job.

Setup was frustrating, can't disable SSID broadcast, ridiculously poor interface, changing password failed somehow and now although the unit is doing it's job really well, I can't log in. My only real complaint is the interface AND I did not know that if you buy this kit, they are pre configured so it's ready to just plug in. I spent an hour to configure something already done.
