A Flavorful Decaf Espresso That Satisfies
As an espresso lover who tries to limit my caffeine intake, particularly in the evenings, I've tried many decaf coffee options that left me wanting more. San Francisco Bay Whole Bean Coffee's decaf espresso roast, however, truly satisfies my cravings for a rich, full-flavored decaf espresso. The dark roast beans have delicious notes that come through in the smooth, full-bodied brew. The quality of the beans is evident in the complex, aromatic flavor. Unlike some decaf coffees that taste flat or watery, this one is rich and as you would expect from high quality beans. I find myself wanting a second and third cup, not because I need an extra caffeine boost but because the taste alone gratifies my desire for an exceptional cup of joe. PROS: Rich, complex flavor comparable to non-decaf espresso Full-bodied mouthfeel without bitterness Fresh, high quality beans Decaffeinated so you can enjoy it day or night Packaged to maintain freshness CONS: More expensive than some other regular coffee beans Kinda need an espresso machine to brew properly For anyone looking for a delicious decaf espresso that doesn't compromise on bold, indulgent flavor, I can't recommend San Francisco Bay's decaf espresso roast highly enough. This is hands down the best decaf espresso I've found to satisfy my coffee cravings at any hour. I've bought it over and over in the last few years and it is consistently delicious!

Flavorful Decaf Espresso
I love this decaf espresso! Iโve been trying to cut back on my caffeine consumption so I typically mix these beans with a regular breakfast blend for my morning Americano and then later a cold brew that I brew at home. It has a robust aroma and flavor that blends perfectly

Reasonably priced, pretty good, but a little too dark for my taste
I ordered this coffee to enjoy an espresso or cappuccino in the afternoon when I'm out of fresh-roasted beans. First up, the coffee and espresso I make is perfectly serviceable and drinkable. I'll definitely finish the bag. As is typical with the stuff you get off Amazon, there's no roast date on the bag and I have no illusions that this was freshly roasted... and I wasn't expecting it to be. I expected to be cheap, when-I'm-out-of-the-good-stuff coffee, and that's what this is. Decaf beans tend to be a darker in appearance and more oily on the outside than non-decaf, but I found the taste itself to match a darker roast than I expected. I can take responsibility for part of that, but if I find myself ordering again from this roaster (which I'm on the fence about... would probably come down to price), I would probably order lighter than I would order from other places. I don't know if it was damaged in shipping, but one other thing I noticed is that there are a lot of broken beans and bean pieces. Combined with the extra oil, I really need to wash my hands after handling the beans. The oil was kind of expected, the broken bits, less so. I'll also mention that the bag uses an adhesive to reseal the bag (instead of a ziploc-style closure), and it's not exactly great. It loses its stickiness pretty quickly, so I would be prepared for that. All in all, I won't give it any awards, but the coffee is fine for a nice cheap decaf (and this is definitely among the cheapest coffee that I've found) that you don't care about too much. If the price is right, I'd order again, but at the same price, I'd just as happily try another roaster, or at least a lighter roast from these people.

Very good coffee
This is very rich flavor dark roast coffee priced very reasonable compared to most others. One of the best decaffeinated coffees I have ever purchased.

As good as non-decaf
Taste is personal, and I find this coffee excellent. As some reviewers have noted, it does have some bitterness -- and I also detect some slight sour element -- but all of that is part of a rich, complex flavor profile that I most associate with (to my taste) the best Italian -- and Starbucks -- espressos. In comparison, Lavazza Dek is rich and mild, but more one-note, compared even to Lavazza's regular non-decaf espressos. We have used this coffee in a semi-automatic espresso machine, usually blended half and half with a Lavazza regular espresso bean -- and the addition of the SFB coffee actually seems to bring out the overall flavor much better. So I would recommend this relatively economical coffee without hesitation to anyone who shares an appreciation for dark, slightly bitter espresso. Also, I'd note that in my machine I do get a good crema from this coffee, so I suspect that has something to do with the brewing process, not the coffee.

Not Truly Decaf, Serious Health Warning
I wanted to love this coffee. Despite being labeled decaf, it had a rich, robust flavor with a hint of espresso, exactly the taste I enjoy. But I chose decaf for a reason: I have heart palpitations and must avoid caffeine. Iโve never had issues with other decaf brands, but after drinking this coffee, I began experiencing tightness in my chest, whether lying down or standing, it felt like something was pressing on my breathing passage. I have WPW syndrome and occasionally experience dangerously high BPMs (between 115 and 200), but these episodes are rare when I avoid caffeine. Unfortunately, I had two palpitation episodes in one month after drinking this coffee. The second time, I tested it again to be sure, and had another palpitation that same day. Decaf coffee is never 100% caffeine-free, but most brands fall within the safe range of 97โ99.7% caffeine removal. This one feels far outside that range. I suspect it contains significantly more caffeine than advertised. Iโm not alone, another reviewer reported similar symptoms. If you have any health conditions affected by caffeine, please be cautious. This product may not be safe for sensitive individuals. I wish I could recommend it for the taste, but the health risks are too serious to ignore, and I hope this company will investigate the amount of caffeine residue before someone seriously gets affected.

I love these BEANS!
If you love Arabica espresso beans try this brand! I needed to switch to a decaf espresso for health reasons. My aniexty wouldn't allow me to drink my favorite regular espresso. It grinds beautifully. The color is the same color brewed as my caffeine filled espresso beans. The flavor is rich and not bitter. It pretty much matches my other bean in a side by side flavor test. I was amazed! Bonus: this bean isn't chemically processed and uses the Swiss water method. The value for what you pay is worth it! Plus I can add it to my subscription through Amazon. The freshness seems good. It smells amazing but there's no roast date. I'll keep you posted

Great quality beans!
I am super picky about my decaf espresso. This is an excellent quality of coffee! Itโs my go to now for making my own pods for my Nespresso machine.

The dark roast produces a very bitter taste
The beans tasted very bitter, I have tried both espresso grind and filter coffee grind.
