Bought my 2nd one
My new 2015 Explorer came with 2 fobs. The first fob no longer opened the rear hatch, as I describe below in my 1st review from 2021. That replacement fob is still working fine. Fast forward to today, and my older 2nd fob acted intermittent, sometimes not being recognized by the vehicle. That's a problem if you are away from home. So I popped open that fob and similar to my other fob, one of the silver disks was missing, this time for the panic button. However, I found that little silver disk inside the fob, silver side down, stuck to the circuit board. It was stuck over 2-3 solder spots, thus basically shorting out the circuit board. I removed that little disk, reassembled and the fob seemed to be back to normal. I still ordered this blank fob just in case another silver disk might come loose. How many people had a fob quit and order a new one from the dealer for $400+ not knowing a little silver disk inside was the problem that could be fixed with this $15 blank fob? Glad I found this product. For those of you wanting the Ford logo, the backs of my original fobs fit perfectly with this replacement and still looked like new (the back has no chrome trim). This repair was just as easy as replacing a battery in a fob, so don't worry about assembly. I also reused by old valet key - your choice to cut a new one with the key blank that comes with this. 1st review from 2021 My fob for my 2015 explorer has the open rear hatch button quit working. Taking the fob around, I noticed the little "plunger" for each function and the one over the hatch had disappeared. Not sure where it could go. So I found this replacement. I kept the back of my original as this replacement fob does not have the Ford logo on the back. Not a big deal over all. Kept the circuit board (obviously) and the back. My fob now looks brand new. All functions work fine. This was a perfect solution for my problem. As long as you have the original working circuit board, this replacement case will work.

Excellent: cheap replacement for the original key case
The good: This is a replacemente shell for the original key. We have a 2013 CMax Energi Plugin. I was able to disassemble the original key and move the battery, circuit and contacts to the new shell and it worked perfectly. No need for reprogram or expensive trip to the dealer. The not so good: the quality is not as the original as it feels lighter and the button feel less durable but for the price i cannot complain. The process: I am an Engineer but as long as you are fairly comfortable with opening and closing gadgets, then you should be able to do it without any problem. In my case, my key spent too much time on my bag and the button have been pressed to hard to the point that the key will randomly press the button and unlock the car or bring the windows down. I opened the original key twice and tries to rearrenge the contacts from the button, however i knew that they were too eroded to save, so i looked at this shell replacement which came with the new buttons and contacts (exactly what i needed to make the key new again) How to do the transfer: 1) Pry open your old key through the metalic side. Dont be afraid as you wont break it. Just use a small flat screwdriver. 2) Once open, take the clock battery out. 3) Take the metal that holds the battery in place out as well as you will need it. Careful not to bend it too much. 4) take the small board from the other side of the key. Make sure you have some bracelet to discharge your body to avoid burning any component. Or just hold it with small pliers. 5) remove the plastic case embedded on the circuit. 6) (optional) use a bit of rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts on the circuit board. It doesnt hurt but do it with some qtip and alcohol and very careful. 7) open the new shell. 8) place the plastic holder on the circuit 9) place the board on the shell 10) insert the metal piece on the other side of the shell and then set the battery in place (make sure you dont invert the position of the battery) 11) close the shell 12) transfer the physical key from the old shell to the new shell. Or just make a copy of the physical key on a normal locksmith place (it comes with a new blank key) Close and test. It should work as new.

Great way to fix a flaky fob
Saved me hundreds of dollars. I just cleaned & transferred the old fobโs circuit board and battery to this shell. Worked perfectly. The old fob was 12 years old and was super flaky because it was worn out. It was a little finicky getting it snapped closed. Once I got it closed it is fine.

Empty shell ONLY, no programming needed
This was exactly what I needed!! The battery in the key fob for my 2014 Ford C-max had been dying incredibly quickly. After the second battery replacement in under a month, I determined that something must be wearing out and causing the buttons to press while my keys were in my pocket during the day. I knew the guts inside the key fob were just fine, as long as it had a charge, they work fine. Using the key and then having to put my fob physically next to the steering column to stop the car alarm every day was getting exhausting. I really didnโt want to pay to have a new key programmed at the dealer. I came on Amazon to have a look and found exactly what I was looking for: an empty replacement key shell that would fit my board and key, and at the perfect price, just about $10. The fit is perfect, it popped apart, my board went in, along with the little styrofoam sticker as another reviewer mentioned, clicked it back together, bam! Done. One problem, the loop where youโre supposed to be able to put a split ring keyring through is just not the right shape to allow one to be threaded on. Iโll have to purchase something else to connect it. Itโs sharing a clip with another key for the time being.

2014 Ford Escape Key Fob Repair
The buttons fell apart on my 2014 Ford Escape key fob and quit working. I watched a YouTube video on repairing my Ford key fab and ordered this key fob body. I placed the old fob circuit board into the new fob body with the new button contacts and all buttons now work like new. I'm very happy with the results. Would recommend looking up how to fix your fob on YouTube. That's what I did and everything went smoothly.

This will be my third key fob.. not happy!
Both fobs didn't include the metal contact from battery to function board. The board contacts were also missing. Also tried to reinstall the metal contact - was not successful. And, the shell didn't have the fit and finish of the factory version. The reason escapes me. Quality control needs to step up and take responsibility for ensuring proper fit and finish. Also, the vendor and factory needs to ensure the parts conform to factory specifications. Closing the key fob is a job in itself - again, the function inserts need to confirm as the factory insert - otherwise, it's useless and can't be used at all. Btw - a battery isn't included - so hopefully your broken / old part will have a charged battery to work with. Again, a quality control issue. I received a list of compatible fobs from Amazon support - thank you! Now I get to sort thru the fobs that will make the purchase useful. If not, then hopefully Ford will have a fob that includes the fob that is missing all the parts the replacement lacked. I wish you all success - because it's a gamble to obtain the right one without paying for the right fob. Good luck all, thanks for reading.. Anyone run into this issue?? If you can, let me know! I wish you success.. Once I find the proper replacement, I'll order another replacement.. I only received once fob when purchasing the my MKX- not a good experience.. Hopefully, I can locate a reliable replacement factory radio that property controls my android phone - sarcasm not welcome here.. Wishing you success with your purchases all!! Check to make sure your replacement parts are identical to the factory parts!! Wishing everyone a healthy Happy Holiday!!

A no brainer
The Ford dealership wanted to charge 1,000 dollars replace my two key fobs for my 2011 Lincoln MKX. Thanks but no thanks. Checked Amazon, found these guys, read the reviews, ordered. Four days later my replacement key fobs work like a charm and I saved myself 970 dollars. Some people have said these key fob shells were impossible to close, making them unusable. I also found both difficult to close (I bought two) but if you keep at it, using plenty of elbow grease, they will eventually snap into place.

Cheap and easy fob fix!
This was EXACTLY what I needed to replace my existing Ford Escape fob. The function buttons weren't working properly - but the electronics (circuit board) inside seemed fine. I ordered this "empty" replacement (no electronics inside), popped my circuit board into it, and voila, it works perfectly like a brand new Ford fob! As long as your electronics are OK, there's no need to pay well over $100 to have Ford make a replacement. So happy I did this.

Hit and miss
Second time I bought just to return. It did not close snap shut. 1 out of 3 worked hope the next one works as it should.
