This reel is very inexpensive when it comes to a comparison of same sized name brand reels. Good looking and has a smooth drag. Casts far and line lays great on the retrieve. Durability will have to be a wait and see as this review is just out of box. One word of caution is if you are buying from Zhifu Trade Co.,Ltd. Make sure you select the correct size before placing your order. I did a search for a reel that held around 200 yards of 10 lb test and this one came up. I looked at previous reviews and decided to take a chance. I hovered over the pic of the reel to confirm the line capacity and clicked buy. I didn't realize there were different sizes to select from in the middle of the description and I was originally sent the wrong sized reel. Zhifu Trade Co.,Ltd made it right no problem and I got the correct reel just 4 days later.,

Purchased this reel for in shore fishing. It has very smooth cast and works like charm. Seems very durability and cast well.

Nice entry level fishing reel. This is the second Sougayilang reel that I have purchased and the first one is butter....very very smooth. This one is a not as smooth, not bad though, have not had a chance to open up and grease properly.My kids caught a number of Fluke and 5lb. Bluefish I believe it's the XY1000. I've read reviews and seen videos bashing this brand concerning rust and or corrosion. A little preventative maintenance goes a long way some grease and oil prevented any issues at all while using it in saltwater. Inexpensive reel great value for the money. Get a few seasons out of it if properly maintained and your ahead of the game.

Sougayilang actually makes a very good product. I would not say they are the best, but among budget friendly brands, they are certainly a favorite of mine now. I have a total of 5 of their reels. This one in particular is probably the best of them. As soon as I received it, I noticed its build quality was quite sturdy. The bail has no extra movement at all (I am getting a replacement due to this issue on one of the other reels) and clicks into place quite easily, unlike the shimano sienna I have which this reel is replacing. I think if you really want the quality of decades of use, you may need to buy older stuff since nothing is made like it used to be anymore. But for budget anglers like myself, Sougayilang is hitting a market that will probably keep them going for a long time coming, as long as their QC/QA department keeps improving (see comment above).

The popular Chinese fishing reel brand Sougayilang (owned by Yiwu Gada Trade Co., Ltd.) has created many rods and reels and for their reels, I have grown to enjoy their reels that have a high drag and powerful enough to take on carp and catfish. Today I am reviewing the Sougayilang Energy GL Fishing Reel 4000. Featuring a black and green magnesium graphite aluminum carbon spinning reel. The fishing reels have a high percentage of fiber reinforced graphite body and C4LF carbon fiber rotor. The retrieve is definitely smooth with the R-Spider DL. I opted for the 4000 which has a 39.5 LB Carbon Fiber Drag and 12+1 ball bearings, reduced weight and has an ergonomic EVA handle knob. The reel is ambidextrous, so you can easily switch the handle from the left or right. Look-wise, I absolutely love the metalic green and black features but of course, it all depends if this reel will help you catch fish, so I have video. Caught 12 fish this past weekend and on a 7 ft. medium rod using 35lb. braid (no leader as this river’s water is quite murky). [check out my video] And like many Sougayilang products, the reel was quite inexpensive at $32.99 (for the 3000 and 4000 version). While the reel is mentioned as saltwater, I did not test it for saltwater, nor do I trust it to be saltwater without any major sealing. But it’s under $33 and not expecting it to compete with saltwater reels that typically are over $145. But for freshwater, this reel worked perfectly. I tied my personal daily best for early morning fishing and this reel really came through and did the job! Overall, for its smooth movement, its high carbon fiber drag, how light it is and how inexpensive this reel is, the Sougayilang Energy GL Fishing Reel 4000 is highly recommended!

I love how smooth this reel is. the parts are well made but the issue I have is with the connecting arm. the body is a plastic and there is a TON of flex between the reel and rod when you really give it some effort with a snag or pulling something in quick. It ruins the feel of the system working together and I wasn't a fan of having the reel all loosey goosey when trying to bring it home. The drag was okay but I couldn't tell if it was flex or the queality of the washers. I have a few Sougayilang spinning reels and this is by far the least impressive.

I recieved my 8 - 4000 sized reels. My intent was to do a total replacement with new reels. First impressions were good. Aesthetically pleasing, fast at 6+ gear ratio, light, and well balance on my high end rods. I started spooling the first reel and notice that a keeper screw for the main shaft nut was completey stripped, and cross threaded to boot. I checked all. 5 of 8 the heads of the screw was stripped. Obviously no Quality Control. I should have stopped there... 1) Next, while spooling the first reel, I noticed that with any pressure, while reeling, the crank had a very jerky tension to it. You have to let up. for fishing, it will be nothing more than a line retriever, and all power will come from pumping the rod. this reel has zero power, before the gears want to eat themselves up. I should have stopped, but new things are fun. 2) By the third reel, I realized this was what you get, it wasnt a fluke. Additionally the third reel must have a slight bend in the shaft, because at one point about every 6 turns, it gets very hard to reel, even with no line pressure at all. The main shaft is very thin diameter, like less than 1/8" perhaps? It is of poor quality, and obviously not tempered. and NOT stainless. 3) Im stopping at 3, with over 900 yards of 20 lb Power Pro invested. The metals on these reels will not hold up to freezing environments, let alone salt. No way should these be considered a salt water investment. If i can save my line (its worth much more than these reels), I will return this product. Very Very dissapointed. They are not worth $5, let alone $30.

Got this for my husband because he needed a new reel, The casting is smooth like butter! It was a great price as well, the size and weight are perfect for the new pole he also got and he really like the green and black it looks great on his new green fishing pole! It definitely out performs his old reel the we spent close to $60 bucks on. Will definitely order from here again when needed.
