Works Perfect w/ Omron Series 5 (Model BP742) Blood Pressure Monitor
My wife was getting close to the preeclamptic stage during her 3rd trimester of pregnancy and her OBGYN told her she needs to take it easy and check her blood pressure twice a day. We realized that it would be a hassle to go to the local drug store or grocery twice a day to check her blood pressure, so we decided to buy one.We rushed out to buy the Omron 5 Series Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor from a local drug store but were dismayed to find that it didn't include the AC adapter cord. It did however, come with batteries but they can be costly over time and can be unreliable when their charge nears its end.Browsing on Omron's webpage, I found that the compatible adapter was the HEM-ADPTW5 AC Adapter. Despite the price high tag they were wanting to charge for this thing, Amazon had it at an excellent price.I can confirm it works beautifully with the monitor.

The picture is not correct and you probably won't receive AC adapter model HEM-ADPTW5.
The Item shown on the Amazon website is listed as HEM-ADPTW5, which is the AC adapter required for my model of blood pressure monitor in the U.S. (I called the Omron help line for my monitor and was told to use no other adapter and to buy the Omron HEM-ADPTW5.) The adapter that actually arrived was model HHP-BH01, which has 2 ROUND plugs to go into the outlet, not 2 flat plugs that you get with U.S made electrical products. I found this round type plug common in India and the Middle East. When you receive an adapter with 2 round plugs, it requires a converter to access U.S. 110-120V outlets. It is needed because your rounded plugs adapter is a 240V model and the U.S. outlet requires a 110-120V model. This is NOT clear on the webpage, because you see 2 FLAT plugs in the picture. If you receive the 240V model (not pictured), it becomes more bulky in that you must first plug in the 2 round plugs into the strange white converter included, and then plug that converter into the wall. Lot's a lot of electrical items to stick out and go wrong. I lived outside the U.S. and had to use converters there in the same manner for some electrical items to work in country. The U.S. electrical items we brought there actually worked directly with U.S. electrical outlets in our home abroad, but we needed the strange convertors if we bought an in-country TV, blu-ray player, etc. which had round plugs. I am returning this set-up and will try to find from Omron directly, a U.S. structured AC adapter with 2 flat plugs that meet the requirement for my monitor.

Stop Buying Batteries
Before I purchased the adapter, I continuously was replacing the 4 AA batteries, usually while i was attempting to take a reading. The adapter has eliminated this problem: THANK YOU.

I Will Never Buy Batteries Again
I use my blood pressure monitoring device on a day-to-day basis and it's taking so much power from the batteries. I have changed batteries twice already since I started using the device so I decided I have to do something about it. I searched the Amazon store and found that there is a matching power adapter for my Omron blood pressure monitoring device. I bought it and since then I have had a steady supply of power and never bought batteries again. You can too, I would recommend this power adapter.

Great for home readings!
I have used an older model for several years, but liked the picture of the newer cuff, so decided to 'upgrade'. This cuff is much easier to wrap so the cord is lined up correctly. I gave the older one to a friend who had it checked with his doctor and it gave the same readings. I checked the newer one with my older one first and then took the new one with me to the doctor's visit and it too gave the same readings. [but I always have readings about 20 points higher at the doctor's office than at home]. My doctor now has me bring in the home results and uses those for my med. So great product!
