USA Authentic NATO Style Steel Can Holder for 20 Liter (5 Gallon) Cans

The top latch has two settings. Fits Waivan. Note that hole for the pad lock to lock the top latch is very small and will only fit one of those small travel padlocks you might use for airplane luggage. A standard pad lock will not work.

We mounted this to the Prinsu rack on our overlanding rig. I had to drill 4 holes in it so that it would get good contact across 2 rails. It held the Wavian can with no vibration or play whatsoever. It's actually a pretty tight fit. The plastic isolators keep the can in place while also protecting the can from getting damaged. The steel is sufficient to hold the can tightly to the vehicle. The paint coating is thick and doesn't look like it will chip. Others have implied that this is an overpriced item, but its price is in line with others while providing superior quality. I expect to purchase another one in the future as you can never have too much fuel when off grid.

Excellent fit for European made Jerry cans. These holders are made in Latvia (sticker says so anyway) and so they obviously used the NATO cans to model them during manufacture. I have Polish made Jerry cans and the fit is perfect. The inside of the holder is lined with relatively thick spacers/bumpers that protect the can and holder from rubbing metal on metal. The holders have a few holes on each end to do your fastening. The holes accommodate 5/16 size bolts (3/8 was too big). My trailer has a 1.5 inch lip that I needed to accommodate and I couldn’t get the fastener and holder next to the body of my trailer and still the can in. I improvised using coupling nuts and it worked perfectly. I have three bolts keeping the holder in place now and I think it is solid. The trails might tell me otherwise but we’ll see. Bought two for now but will likely be back for more depending on how many cans I want to strap on. Very happy with them.

I almost never do reviews, but this was necessary! I was hesitant to purchase this product because of the other information that indicated the Scepter 20L does not fit. As you see, it absolutely does. It is a bit of a squeeze, but doable. It appears as though the provided plastic pads are removable, so popping a couple of those out would create a more passive fit and allow for more mounting points. I will likely work on conforming the top strap to fit the scepter a bit better, and then spray it with bed liner, but wanted to photograph it as factory. Even as is, I think it would be fine. This unit is built very sturdy and reasonably priced. The lock has two positions (the scepter does require the lower/bigger position). I did not want one of the bolt together models all over amazon for overlanding use, too many potential failure/rust points. I am so glad I took a chance on this one! As a caveat this Scepter 20L was purchased in May 2023 as was the mounting rack. I am completely unfamiliar with how these respective sizes may have changed over the years.

Well made, but the fit for the NATO Jerry can is VERY tight, tight enough that it scrapes the paint off and once in, the can is almost impossible to get out; the Midwest metal Jerry can fits better and while snug , comes in and out smoothly....

Very well-made item. The only issue I have is that the jerry cans I have don't fit in it -- they have seam welds that stick out just enough to keep them from going in. But that's the fault of the cans, not the holder. If you have a standard jerry can, and the seams are smooth, it should fit snug. Looks like a good product. Oh, you'll have to use your own mounting hardware, and if you want to attach it from the side/bottom, you'll have to tap that out. No biggie. The bottom and the side/top have pre-tapped holes.

This item is mostly made from flimsy 14ga. steel. You can literally bend most parts of it with your bare hands. I wanted to save myself some time due to time constraints and not make my own, but ended up spending an hour welding reinforcements to this holder. I added eighth inch angle iron to the corners and an eighth inch flat bar mounting system. The stock mounting holes are too small. I added three-eighth holes and grade 8 bolts. This holder can only be termed light duty and I would be hesitant to haul a full 5 gallon Jerry can in it unless you reinforce it like I did. Having this bounce over a rough road in stock configuration with a full fuel load would most likely spell disaster. The price on this should be no more than $25, not the $67 they charge.

I replaced the stock tailgate hinges on my JK with the heavy-duty MOR/ryde hinges, drilled 4 holes in the vertical side rails of this holder to line up with the holes in the hinges, then cut 2 pieces of 1/4" thick aluminum bar stock, drilled holes to line up with the holder, tapped the holes for M8x1.25 threads, allowing the holder to bolt on with no hinge modifications. There's just enough room for the Jerry can to clear the tail light by about 1/4" with the gate all the way open. Even with a full 5 gallons sloshing around in the can, this holder keeps the can very-well secured. For the first several weeks this was on my Jeep, I was paranoid it'd fall off, but a couple months later, I'll still go to shake it and it doesn't budge.

Fitment of the Wavian metal 5gallon (20L) NATO can is spot on. No rattle and the locking band while good to keep the honest folk out its not going to stop a thief from stealing it. I waffled on the price at $100 each but by the time you buy metal, find the rubber to fit and build it all its hard to justify the custom job to save around $20.
