Works great
I bought this to connect my PowMr all in one solar inverter to Solar Assistant on an Orange Pi. I was using the USB port on my inverter but it suddenly stopped working one day. At first I thought maybe my USB cable was bad so I tried a couple others but no luck. The price is very reasonable and not much more than a USB cable. Very easy to hook up. My inverter uses an Ethernet port for RS485 - I just cut the end off of an old Ethernet cable and hooked up 2 wires to the Waveshare and plugged everything in. Build quality appears to be good. It's been working fine for about a month now.

Works awesome for managing my ESS system.
This is my second time purchasing these. They work great for use with all my PV, inverter and battery (ESS) equipment. I’ll need about 16 more units. Waveshare manufactures them right.

Works with JBD BMS
Perfect, not too expensive and the extra usb extension is really nice to come with the adapter. The rx & tx lights are useful to see. Simple to install the wires. I tinned the wires just for fun.

Did require a driver for me - but it works, and saved me $1k bc it works with Samsung S-Net Pro 2
This says no driver required, but my computer (LG Gram running Windows 11) immediately flagged it as unknown and said it was missing a driver. I found the driver on the ftdichip website and now it works. I'm using it to connect to a Samsung HVAC system. The official Samsung version of this costs 1k. Down with big HVAC!

Works perfect in linux
This worked perfectly for my application. I have this running with an older Raspberry PI 3 as a pool controller. The dongle powers perfectly off the RPI3's USB ports with no issues. The terminal block for connection is snugly fit into the end so that takes some effort to get out but once connected and re-plugged in everything is very secure and I have no doubts it will stay plugged in.

Easy to integrate and works well!
I paired this WaveShare RS-485/FT232RL USB interface converter with a thermister temperature collection module to monitor my beer fermentation process. The converter installed easily on my Windows XP SP3 Intel Pentium 4 HT laptop. Many thanks to FTDI for not deprecating Win XP from their driver set! The status LEDs were great confirmation that my software was communicating with the temperature board, or at least trying to during initial development. Once my code was completed, the WaveShare converter demonstrated good stability in 24/7 use during the last two weeks of my fermentation (the brew was started before the software was complete). Unfortunately, I still have not found a way to reset the WaveShare converter via software to automatically recover from my MSExcel 2010 VBA induced ModBus conflicts, especially during software development. Only a manual power cycle by unplugging/replugging in the WaveShare converter would work. This seems to be a Win XP limitation, not the WaveShare converter. I was nervous about trying to integrate these components on such an old laptop, but it all worked as desired. I hope this system description is helpful to lend confidence to others who are interested in a similar experiment.

I use it to connect on BACnet MS/TP devices and networks to change settings on job sites and it's very easy to use. Just make sure of your polarity! If reversed, nothing shows up. I use it with YABE, a free software and it's just perfect, I can see all the BACnet points and change everything I need without issues.
