This stuff helps!
I like the smell and helpfulness of using this pre-conditioner. I smooth it in my hair, particularly on my hair along the hairline, and where my scrunchie goes, just before putting my cap on and swimming laps. When I go to wash out my hair after swimming, it is soft and not stripped of natural oils like it is when swimming without a pre-conditioner. It also seems to help my cap last longer. (I use a fabric-type cap with water resistant coating on the outside.) With that said, it is not great if I leave it in my hair longer than a few minutes before swimming. I have had a couple of instances where I couldn’t swim when I had planned and it dried in my hair and made it feel brittle and more breakable until I could rinse it out. It works great if you swim and then rinse off right away. Don’t let it fully dry in your hair if at all possible before swimming/rinsing off. If you do, don’t comb or brush your hair until you rinse it off. (I suspect this would be the case with most conditioners, honestly.) This is my second bottle—it is worth the money. It really helps protect my hair when swimming and I will keep using it.

Great for well water and longer lasting highlights
I love and use the pre swim hair defense on my dry hair before every wash. I don't use it to prevent chlorine damage. I have well water and the minerals in our water tend to dull and discolor my highlighted hair. The pre-swim hair defense works great to block the minerals from being deposited on my hair and my highlights and color last much longer. The Aqua Guard leave in detangler is great, too!

WORKS AS DESCRIBED
This stuff WORKS! my 6 yearold has thin hair and so it dries out very easily. she hated the swim cap, so i had to find a product to protect her hair. I followed the instructions. made sure the product was soaked down to her roots. The after-swim rinse felt like butter. I almost didn't use shampoo, because it felt sooo soft. However, to be safe and to make sure i got all the chlorine out. I shampoo’d and conditioned her hair in the shower. I applied a generous amount about 30mins before swimming. I will continue to buy.

Okay, swim protector - too expensive.
I use this product pre lap swimming on my long hair, and use a swim cap over the top. It does the job protecting my hair, wish it was a little more conditioning though and it is awfully expensive.

Expensive, but seems to work well
I started using this product last swim season (roughly June - September where I live) because I was doing an hour or two of laps every day and was very concerned about the likely damage to my hair. I was skeptical, both because of the price and because of the additional "pre-swim" prep using this product added to my routine -- basically, having to wet my (long) hair in the sink, spread this stuff all over, and then drip water annoyingly on myself while I got ready to swim. (I also found the pump bottle extremely hard to get working when I first opened the bottle ... I'm hoping that's been improved since last year.) BUT. All this minor kabitzing aside, the stuff WORKS. It really does work. I swam in a well-chlorinated pool for two hours a day for four months last year, and my thin, stupidly fine hair did not become brittle or fragile or broken, as I remember it doing when I swam regularly as a kid. So I have just ordered another (expensive) bottle, because I'm too old to be sanguine about losing hair unnecessarily. Caveat: I do also regularly use a (much less expensive) chlorine-removing shampoo in my post-swim shower. But I'm still very satisfied with this product, which is why I just bought another (very expensive) bottle for this new season. :-) On a follow-up note ... the company that makes AquaGuard (Underwater Audio) makes an underwater audio player that has literally changed my swimming life. I can swim for literally hours now listening to CLEAR audiobooks and music while I do it. If you're not already aware of such products, I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Underwater Audio's Delphin audio player (and underwater earbuds). Worth every penny. I wish this company charged (a lot) less for AquaGuard, but I will always be grateful to them for my Delphin(s).

Not worth the price
25% increase in less than a year. This product is good but it’s not that good.

Like this stuff but…
Ordered a two pak this time. Great product but unfortunately both bottles had opened and leaked by the time I got them.

The leave in detangler was used alot more than the pre swim - suggest get just that
Bought this for a trip overseas as my hair gest damaged easily and my daughter doesnt want to wreck her hair with hours in the pool - found we didnt use the pre swim but used the detangler instead so probably best to get just that if you need unless you will do it without a quick spray!

Extreme caution - Do not buy!!!
This product has benzoyl alcohol in it which is not listed in its ingredients. It leaves remnants in your hair even after you wash it and when mixed with blonde hair dye - YOUR HAIR FALLS OUT IN MASSIVE QUANTITIES! I am currently repairing my daughter’s hair from this mis-marketing disaster of a product. Do Not Buy If You Are A Blonde!
