10519 Halifax 5-Drawer Composite Wood Cabinet, White

This thing came in 400 pieces 🤣 and it took me 3 hours to put together but...the instructions were pretty good. I felt like I really accomplished something when I was done. I didn't cut the wood or forge the parts from metal but they sure make you do every other thing to build it 🤣 it seems pretty sturdy and it suits my purpose just fine. I do wish the drawers pulled all the way out but they only pull out about 3/4 of the way and you have to reach in...but...small potatoes.

Nice, solid and was pretty straight forward in terms of assembly. The wheels are smooth as it slides and the drawers have a smooth gliding motion when opened and closed. It was easy to assemble but did take a bit of time to do by myself. Functionality is great it has plenty of storage with nicely sized drawers. It was packed well no damage or marks on any sides. It’s perfect for office storage and can even hold my printer on top of it. I’d say it’s a good buy at a good price and I shopped around comparing several of these. Would highly recommend and would give 10 stars if I could.

UPDATE (8/30/2025) As I suspected when I originally wrote this review a little more than two years ago, the cheap plastic wheels that come with this unit are junk. They break VERY easily, under normal use, just rolling it on laminate flooring. Fortunately, they are easy to replace. I got some caster wheels from a well known retailer of assorted items that probably have harbors around the world through which they import freight. At 1 5/8" diameter, they're slightly bigger than the stock ones, but MUCH better built. These units should come with these better wheels, which I got for only $2/each. See my updated pictures for examples of these easy to install wheels. They install using the stock screws, you just need to drill new holes. I bought this because I am desperate for storage space for cables, various pieces and parts and other "project" type stuff. I got this specific unit because it fits under my existing desk, and it was 37% off (paid $78) the $125 list price As an experienced DIY person, this took me two hours to build because the instructions SUCK! They're the typical "no words, only pictures" type of instructions. Plus, nothing was labeled. In the the pictures, they show part "A" or "B" or whatever, but the pieces themselves are not labeled. You have to keep referring back to the parts list and figure out which part is which. Even pre-sorting the stuff doesn't help much. The biggest issue was that in the very first step, the picture shows one thing, but then they show a measurement to go by. What are you supposed to do? Here's a hint. Ignore the whole "16mm" thing entirely. Just do what the PICTURE shows, which is using the SECOND HOLE on the metal part (2nd from the end on each side). It won't come out to 16mm from the front of the cabinet, but that's OK. They should just delete the "16 mm" part because all it does is add confusion. For the reason above - I ended up skipping this part of the instructions and went to building the drawers first. I built all five of them, then put the rails on them, and then tried to determine how the rails go on the cabinet - but still gave up from that. I just went with the picture and used the SECOND HOLE, and hoped for the best. I thought for sure I would end up having to take the whole thing back apart again when I tried to put the drawer in, but, miraculously, it worked. Anyway - aside from that...quality is OK. Tolerances are a little loose - so things are not lined up perfectly. There's a bit too much spacing/slop in the drawers for my taste - but it's OK. It's OK at the $78 I paid. It's pretty bad for the $125 list price. This unit is a rolling unit. The wheels are cheap plastic, but it rolls OK on my hardwood floor. Would probably suck on carpet. To my surprise and delight, I discovered that the wheels do have "locks" on them, so you can lock it into position to keep it from moving. Handy if you wanted to use the surface for a work table or something. The drawers slide OK for what they are. They don't really "lock in" so they will want to slide out if you roll the unit around much. This unit could be greatly improved if the drawers had better retention, so you had to more actively slide them out, with a little effort. You could probably paint this unit if you wanted to. Would be kind of a PITA. I'd recommend scuffing the entire surface to be painted, for better adhesion. I would also recommend doing it before assembly, and using a sprayer or roller, rather than a paint brush. Unit could use a handle on the front, so give you something to grab on to when rolling it. Side would work, but for my use case, front would be better since it is under my desk facing forward. I will probably acquire a handle and install it when I get some time. Overall, not a bad unit for the price I paid. If I had room for another unit under my desk, I would get one. I ordered unit yesterday and it came today - so very fast. This dresser got the job done. Perfect for a desk space or any space really. I received all parts in perfect condition, the box it came in was solid and extra padding. Basically if you live far from an Ikea and they can't ship to you, this is a perfect second option and less cheaper, quality is a bit lacking BUT its not bad. However, the instructions that came with this was a bit questionable, was staring at it for a solid 5 minutes before it clicked but maybe it's because I'm stupid. It did take me 2 hours to build the whole damn thing. When assembling the dresser some parts while assembling were uneven and a bit wobbly but it all came together in the end. I used an electric drill and I don't know if its me or what but when drilling some parts of the screws it ripped part of the wood and paint where that screw was. I didn't care about it but whoever does this might bother you. Pros - Dupe for ALEX dresser - Cheaper - Pretty sturdy Cons - Instructions a bit unclear - Assembling some parts weren't perfectly aligned Im not going to add any pictures but trust my words.

$40. That’s what this is possibly worth... And that’s if you have all the pieces. I, personally, think any reciews over 2 stars, were paid. I’ve run around for 2 days to match screws, buy dowels (which I didn’t find in this small town) Therefore, having to buy long craft dowels and make them 🙄. I was literally sent packages (unopened) of screws, cams, dowels.. all with atleast 2 missing... 6 of the screws in one package were actually in the bag, which called for 36! Only 17 screws that size were available at the local hardware store, which meant either allowing them to order them, trying to find some similar, or traveling almost an hour each way, to a larger town, in hopes of finding them. 4 places and almost 5 hours later, I arrived home, finally having all of the screws... All with a non-verbal, autistic 3-year-old who had 2 meltdowns throughout the last hour and a half of our “fun-filled treasure hunt”. Half of the cams/shafts were breaking the “generic wood” in spots, without even getting them halfway in. The instructions are a joke.. Having you walk through steps, with similar-looking parts, having to flip back a page or two each time, to distinguish which part it is, as apparently, this company is either too lazy to attach stickers or labels or too broke to afford them. Not sure, but I will happily donate some stickers with the correct numbers (which are all over the place... A-N... Then, W1... Q2...etc), so that the next sucker to spend $100-$200 on these items, isn’t ready to fall back to alcoholism, or call crisis. I’m giving this thing one star, only because it IS usable... (Now, anyway.). This whole mess is ridiculous, but I’ve put more time and work into this thing, than I think I did my first child.. I’m not about to take it apart to return it. If this company is going to leave out so much parts, and make an item that is this much work, they should at least include a bottle of whiskey! In case they’d like to make it up, I prefer Patron.

If I had taken any notice of the negative reviews I never would have bothered. How sad? I can only draw the conclusion some folk didn't follow the instructions or used the wrong screws in the wrong pre drilled holes! I unpacked my white drawers... no dings or scratches. In fact they were very well packed and padded. After reading the reviews I knew the screw packs were not labelled. I identified each one placed them on a sheet paper which I labelled. I'm not saying it was easy to build. But I'm a 62 year old with issues, I managed and had a sense of achievement. The drawers are mobile, sturdy and look awesome. They are ideal for my intended purpose.

So, I am going to start with THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE IN THE LITTLE BOXES OF SCREWS! Now that you know where to find your instructions, they really are not all that great. They label all of the pieces, on paper, with letters and numbers but they do not actually label the physical pieces to match the instructions. If they did label the physical pieces it would make this 100% easier to construct than it is currently. I was able to put it together over the course of 3-4 hours. It suggests 2 people for assembly but I did it by myself, which I assume is why it took as long as it did. I am sure if I had, had help it would have taken less time. Much of the time was just working out what was what and where it went. Once you have that it is pretty easy. The actual construction only took maybe 1.5-2 hours, again if I had a second set of hands I am sure it would have been faster. I noticed that a lot of the other reviews mentioned that the unit was kind of wobbly. I was really worried because mine was also somewhat wobbly when I had it all together but then I noticed the little corner bits that I had not put in yet. I put in a picture of what I am talking about in the images. They go into the top and bottom corners of the back of the unit. They completely take away the wobble. SO If you skip them, the unit is going to wobble. DO NOT skip them. I bought this for makeup storage and it works great. I love the space it has. Overall I like how it stores my makeup, I like how tall it is and how wide it is. I wish the drawers pulled out a little further, but it's not the end of the world.
