Sceptre E275W-1920 27" FHD 1080p 75Hz Monitor HDMI VGA Build-In Speakers, Metal Black

I've only had the Sceptre E248W-1920 24-Inch Screen LED monitor for a few days now, but I'll update my review if I run into any kinks/issues in the future. For the time being, here’s the just-outta-the-box review: 0. Optional 3-Year protection plan by Asurion: I thankfully haven’t had to use this service, but if you’re super paranoid about the welfare of your devices like I am, that extra three bucks might save your assets later on. You receive the protection plan digitally, so there’s no paper waste involved here. 1. The manufacturer's packaging: The monitor came in a fairly slender box with an instruction manual, the base for desktop use, an HDMI cable, a VGA cable, and the 3-prong power cord. (This didn’t come with a wall mount, or 3.5 M/M audio cable, or DVI cable, so you’ll have to snag those elsewhere if you need them.) The monitor itself was nicely padded with fitted styrofoam, and finally wrapped in that clingy plastic film stuff that gives nerds like me a small thrill to peel off. (ahh, that new electronics smell!) This kind of packaging was a relief to see, as things tend to get knocked around a lot in the shipping process and can lead to fragile devices being dead on arrival. In this case, everything was intact and not all roughed up. 2. First impressions: This monitor is quite light to carry around, even with my wet noodle-strength arms, so that's a plus. There's some very simple assembly required that includes attaching the base and adding the necessary cable hook-ups, and that’s it. (I haven't tried to mount this on my wall because I don't trust my walls to hold up anything heavier than a poster.) As other people have pointed out, the "neck" part that attaches to the base sticks out a bit from underneath and isn't removable, but that isn't an issue for me personally, as I just have it sitting on my desktop. The monitor comes out of the box tilted forward a bit, but if you place your hand on the base and gently push from the top, you can adjust the tilt to your liking. The base and frame of the monitor is sleek and glossy, but the actual picture part of the frame is completely matte with minimal to no reflections visible while in use. There are a few decals on the frame part, but they’re the sort of indicative labels that boast a device’s features (Energy Star, HDMI-ready, and Win 8 compatible. My PC uses Win 7, and it works great.) There are external menu buttons underneath bottom right side of the monitor frame that are labeled on the frame that includes a button where you can switch from different cable sources (for example, if you have an HDMI cable hooked up from one device and the VGA hooked up to your PC, you can switch from one to the other with that button.) The monitor's built-in menu system is easy to learn and has a nice "transparency" feature that makes the on screen menu translucent enough that it doesn’t obscure whatever you’re looking at. 3. Performance: Oh man, if you're upgrading from a lemon monitor like I did, your eyeballs are in for a treat. After inspecting the monitor, I found that it arrived with no dead pixels or discoloration (yay!) I used the "auto" feature for picture/resolution adjustments, and it practically set itself up. I played a few games with this thing and I already see a major difference in picture quality, especially with the lights and shades. Sparkly light particles in games actually sparkle. Shadows look like actual shadows. Colors are accurate and vivid, which is a huge plus for me because I do a lot of digital art and design. The LED indicator light on the bottom right corner is visible but not bright enough that it knocks your eyes out in a dark room, so you can forego masking it with electrical tape. The only disappointing feature I've experienced so far is with the speakers, which have a tin can quality to them---BUT, this isn't a big issue if you already have a sound system set up, or use headphones. Sceptre E248W-1920 24" review in short: Pros: - Lightweight - Gorgeous picture quality - Nice big HD screen, especially for the price - Quick, easy setup - Can switch picture from different input sources - Comes with HDMI and VGA cables Cons: - Speakers are dinky -No 3.5 M/M audio cable or DVI cables Mixed Feels: - Might look awkward if you plan on attaching this to your wall because of the neck that hangs down, but if that doesn’t weird you out, I guess you could use it to stick post-it notes on, or something.

I love everything about this monitor. The picture is very clear and bright and all of the colors are just how they should be. Construction is good and durable and it has a nice variety of ports to choose from. I will be buying another one when I'm no longer a poor child so I can have a dual monitor setup on my PC. The integrated speaker that comes with this monitor is garbage. It kinda blows out on the high end and isn't really all that clear for lows and mids either. This was entirely expected however, as this is a cheap monitor that I am purchasing here and not a high end speaker system. Or even a speaker system at all for that matter. If you are counting on this speaker as your main sound output for your computer, you are probably either very new to the world of computers, or you just don't care. Either way, this one really isn't that big of a deal. UPDATE: Someone who replied to my review pointed this out to me, and I didn't notice it until they did. THE MONITOR DOES TILT EVERYBODY! You just have to hold the base down and push the top of the monitor away from you, and the wonder of all wonders happens. The screen tilts! Con #1 is officially gone!

Here is a quick pro/con for those who don't want to read a big paragraph. Pros -built in speakers -3 inputs (hdmi, vga, dvi) -great picture - hd quality -great price for a 27" monitor Cons: -the second monitor I got had a small spot (it's lighter than the rest of the screen) that is a bit annoying I ordered one of these from Walmart.com and decided to order a second one here from Amazon. The Walmart one was perfect, but the Amazon one had a tiny spot that is lighter than the rest of the screen. I didn't complain about this, but probably should have. It doesn't bother me too much, so I just decided to live with it. That spot is the reason I deducted a star from my rating. Other than the spot, this monitor is awesome especially for the relatively low price. Most of the larger monitors, 27" or bigger, are $300 - $500, so $130 is a steal. I read reviews where people complained about the speakers. They don't match the quality of a sound system that costs hundreds of dollars, but you shouldn't expect them to. I have no complaints regarding the sound. I watch youtube and stream Amazon video using the monitor's built-in speakers, and it sounds pretty good even when I turn it up. For me, the fact that I didn't have to buy external speakers was a huge plus. However, if you want, you can plug in external speakers. Another plus was the hdmi input. I wanted to be able to use this monitor with my xbox, so hdmi was a must have when I was looking for a monitor. The picture is hd quality and looks great. It makes browsing the internet or doing work so much better. The screen is so big that you can have two things open at the same time at what feels like two full screens. The only problem is that I have spoiled myself and just using the screen of my laptop is a pain haha. Like I said, I also watch YouTube, TV, and movies on this monitor and they all look crisp with no lag. I do not play video game requiring high refresh rates, so I can't speak for quality there. Overall, this monitor is good quality at a very modest price. I would definitely buy it again (oh wait, I already did...) and I highly recommend.

Bought this set for a guest room and am using it with an Apple TV box. Great little TV, especially for the price. Very clear picture. Sound from speakers is a bit primitive, however fine for just watching general movies, shows, etc. You get what you paid for...convenience:) Others have brought up a good point in that removing the base is kind of a pain. Since we are only using this with our Apple TV box, we decided to make lemonade out of the lemon and use the base as an attachment point for our Apple TV box! My amazing husband cut the plastic stand around the base and we siliconed the Apple TV box to the bottom of the cut base unit (see photos). This has worked amazingly well and looks fantastic. Gets the box and cables out of the way when TV is hung on the wall! I'm sure this would work with the Roku and other boxes. Heck, you could even "glue" a generic "shelf" to the base or hooks, etc. Hope this idea helps others. Again, great little tv for the price.

It's a budget monitor. That's what it is. That said I like the built in speakers even if they are a bit weak. The buttons feel a little flimsy, but once it's set up the button aren't really used because the computer will turn it off. It has VGA, HDMI. & a standard headphone jack for audio input. Haven't tested it yet if it's a two way port. That would nice. Compared to our laptop screen this thing is huge, & wife spends a lot of her free time in front of the screen so I wanted her to have something nice. My first experience with HDMI & it's great. One cable hook-up 10 ft away giving her space she needs. We stream a lot of video on this screen & I have no complaints with picture quality. I would have to agree with the other reviewers about the Versa mount. With the base removed there is still a stem protruding out. Hmm . . . I could do something with that. Anywho, I like that shiny black look of the frame and body it really helps the butterfly stickers pop.

I purchased a pair of these monitors to use in a dual monitor setup, primarily for CAD. So far I am really liking them. I am running them at full resolution and am not noticing any flicker or anything negative about them at all for my application. I have not used them for video or gaming so I can't comment on how well they would work for those things. These monitors are equipped with a standard VESA mounting screw arrangement but the surface where that set of threaded hols is located is curved so a set of stand-offs is necessary to go between the monitor and your VESA mount. The necessary stand-offs are supplied with the monitors but, if you lose them, you can probably get replacements from many hardware suppliers as they appear to be pretty standard parts. One thing some folks may not like is the fact that the stands that come with this monitor do not swivle and have no height adjustment capability. The only adjustment is tilt. If you need more adjustability than just tilt, then you're going to need to invest in some sort of VESA mount that will work for you. All in all, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer monitor in this size for the money.

This monitor was purchased for $80 which is a steal for the specs this thing has. However, it has a couple flaws that are unacceptable in this climate of ever-advancing technology, even with a fantastic price tag. Read on for more info. PROS: -VGA, DVI, and HDMI inputs. That's a ton of connectivity options for a monitor in this class. -Low response time CONS: -Blue color output is wrong. Light blues show up fine, but as the shades turn darker they become purple in color. I am very fussy about my monitor's color calibration, and this is very disappointing. -Vertical viewing angle is atrocious. This is by far the worst monitor I've seen regarding this. Even at a viewing distance of 2x the screen diagonal (44") which is pretty far away for a screen this size, the screen changes hues drastically from the top to the bottom. -Too small. This one isn't a manufacturing problem, but more of a preference. I'd say 24" is the bare minimum for a 1080p display as the icons and text much on this 22" display are much too small. I applied a custom scaling resolution to windows 10 at 108% and it made using the monitor much more bearable. -Crooked Base. Once assembled, my monitor leaned to one side and was 1/2" crooked from one end to the other. I had to remove the base and grind some material away from the stem to make it sit level. It was very easy to do, but this should not be required. -DOWN button turns off monitor, sometimes. This one baffles me. When trying to adjust my monitor, the DOWN button would occasionally cause the monitor to turn off. This was VERY frustrating as I had to turn on my monitor about 30 times before I was done calibrating it. Luckily, I shouldn't ever need to touch it again, but this was quite annoying. As you can see, the list of cons is far longer than that of the pros. For this reason, I cannot recommend this monitor unless all of the following apply to your situation: 1- You can still find this monitor for sub-$90 2- You need a smaller monitor to fit a small footprint. 3- You don't perform work that requires absolute color accuracy.

overall i paid $170 for a 27' 75hz monitor which isn't bad i use it as my second monitor the picture is pretty decent but colours do have a white glow to them especially blacks.

easy set up good value

Arrived well packaged and earlier than I expected! I also didn't think it came with an HDMI cable but it did which was a great surprise! Setting up the monitor too 2 mins, very easy and it's been working great so far. I would recommend this as a second WFH monitor!
