KastKing Crixus Fishing Rod and Reel Combo, Baitcasting Combo, IM6 Graphite Blank Rods,SuperPolymer Handle

6'6" bait casting combo;I received this a few days ago and have been practicing some casting among the back yard shrubs, public fishing areas are currently closed. I grew up using spinning reels but I really like the control of this bait caster. Many times in the past, with a spinning reel, I have had that 'oh shucks' moment when I could see the bait going into some brush with no way to stop it. With a bait caster, just put some pressure on the spool with your thumb and life is good. There is a small learning curve with a bait caster but it is well worth the time. I was doing well after a few practice casts. Be sure to adjust the line release tension for the weight of your bait and end the cast by thumbing down on the spool before the bait hits the water.I dislike that the drag has no noticeable clicking sound, with a clicker the reel would be perfect in my book. If you are shore fishing with this stuck in a rod holder, you will not hear a hit, eyes only. The rod has good action. For the price this seems a fair deal. I spooled some 15 pound braid with a 12 pound mono leader. It was able to cast and spool in the double uni knot I tied with no problems.Enjoy

This was my first kast king. I got the 6ft 6 spinning combo and i must say it is great spinning rod an reel combo, definently a great deal for a set up under $100. It is a very comfortable rod, and i have had no issues with the reel at all. I have used it about a dozen times so far and can tell i will being using it a lot more in the future. It Came packaged in a nice sturdy tube and box so there wasn't any damage at all when it came in. I will definently check out kast king next time I'm in the market for a new rod or reelUpdate: I also got the 7 ft MH bait caster combo and i am super happy with it as well!

Outstanding value for this combo which arrived just a day after ordering. The reel has a great feel and is very smooth. The rod came packaged well, and the combo was together in a few minutes. Can’t wait to haul some fish in on my next trip!

Nice rod! This is my first KastKing, it is lightweight and cast great with 15 lb braid. Seems strong. Time will tell. My only complaint would be that I do not really care for the foam on the handle, but hey that is personal preference. I will update my review after a few weeks of fishing with it.Three weeks later: I still really like this combo. Ive thrown all kinds of baits with it, spinners, frogs, worms, and it has held up great! It breaks down easy enough for me to pack on road trips. Good buy.Five weeks later: Ive upgraded to 5 stars. This rod and reel have tackled everything I have thrown at it. It spent a few days on a canoe with me this past weekend. Caught a few bass and panfish out of the river.Reel got dunked in the water a few times so when i got home i took it apart and re- greased/oiled. Throws like a champ.

Update: A few weeks after this review I caught a 1 lb largemouth on this combo using a Ned rig and had zero issue landing it. See photo above.Kastking does it again! What a great rod/reel combo. This is my 2nd combo I've purchased from Kastking, the other was the cadet bait caster combo. For this one, I bought the 5'6" light spinning combo with the 2000 reel because I needed a lighter rod for pan fishing and trout fishing. The first thing I noticed was how light the rod was. It uses IM6 blanks which give it great strength while being super light. The moderate fast action bends about half way down. The reel is a nicely painted white, what I assume is aluminum body. The bail has a nice snap to it and the reeling action is very smooth. There's no reverse play whatsoever. It does have a reverse lever which is nice and the handle can be swapped to either side. I spooled it up with some 4 lb mono I had lying around and took it out. I was casting an inline spinner and the rod bombs it waaay out there! The drag has a nice ping to it and adjusts in a fairly consistent increasing resistance. The one thing I noticed is the drag knob does have some tilt/play/looseness when it is set on lower drag but I don't think it'll be an issue. I caught the world's tiniest largemouth bass on my 3rd cast but I guess I can't be mad since I bought this rod/reel to catch small fish. So, as far as I'm concerned it is doing exactly what I bought it for. I think Kastking has earned my business for good. I'll continue to buy their rods and reels as well as fishing line. I'm also interested in whatever other stuff they will be releasing!

Great inexpensive rod and reel combo. First time out, with a little help from me, this rod caught five nice LMB in about an hour. Casting and retrieve were smooth, and tangle free.Now, my complaint. Instead of listing left or right retrieve, as used by most reel manufacturers, has been replaced with left or right handed in the description. The accompanying photos show left-handed as right retrieve. This is what I ordered, as I cast with my left hand and retrieve with my right. This is not was received. I received a reel with the handle on the left, as would be used by a right-handed person.Since I was leaving on a fishing trip the day after the product was received, I had no other option, but to use it, instead of returning for replacement. Now I have to switch hands after casting. Frustrating! Please fix this!!!!Overall, the quality of the product is fantastic. If the selection of reel orientation were easier, I would have rated five stars, but have only given three because of this.

Had a problem from the get go... I ordered a right handed reel and received a left handed one...long story short, Amazon took care of me. ...I went to return it and they contacted Kastking for me and set up a return to the manufacturer. Took about 2 weeks to get my replacement in but I'm more than pleased with it so far... haven't fished with it yet but just the quality of this reel stands out... I love the grips and you can hear the "clicks" as the spool tensioner adjusts (which I love). ..overall 4 out of 5 stars until I can fish...then I'll update to hopefully 5/5 😁

This rod and reel combo is fantastic. the reel has very smooth bearings and silky smooth performance. The drag is exquisite. Also, the rod is lightweight and very sensitive. Cant wait to catch more lunkers with this attractive combo.
