Great but can be a little wobbly. Uses watch batteries.
This is an older unit from Sony designed for vlogging system cameras. I have used it with a Sony Xperia1 V and added the front facing vlogging screen plus a couple of lightweight accessories like mini mic, hot or cold shoe adapter and a mini quick release plate and cradle from Ulanzi. It is amazing and light. The handle gives Bluetooth control for both video, stills and one custom button and it works. Can be a little fiddly and menu driven to connect but once done it is fine. The handle also turns into a desktop mini tripod enabling you to safely put your camera down or to use it fro a stable shot from a flat surface. yourself with your best camera in the case of a smartphone or your main camera if vlogging with a system camera. It also allows your camera to rotate 180 degrees so you can film It does wobble a little so there is a slight risk of mic noise but not if you hold it steady which is how I shoot so not an issue at all. I'd love to see Sony do an upgraded version with less shaky noise and an extendable telescopic function to give you a little more reach. Overall great but definitely needs an update in battery, wobble noise, ease of bluetooth connection and extended reach. I am very glad to have it. Thank you Sony. Make a Mark 2.

Great selfie remote and tripod!
I bought this to use with my Sony ZV-1, so this review is mainly centred around that, although it works on other Sony cameras and most functions will be the same. First off the box contains the remote, a little carry bag, some instructions, and a standard CR2032 battery to power the Bluetooth function. The remote itself is a decent weight, it's not light but it feels very very well made and very solid. Setting the device up is super easy. The battery is inserted into the back, you screw it on to the device (or not, if you want to use it as a remote), then you pair it. Pairing was really simple, it took under 30 seconds to get it paired with my ZV-1, you just go into the menu, find the Bluetooth section, select to pair a device, then hold the 'photo' and 'T' buttons on the remote until the LED flashes red, then switch the Bluetooth remote function on in the camera menu. Easy. The device switches on with the camera. You can adjust the position of the stick on the camera really easily. There's a small button you push in on the front that lets you rotate it (so you can use it in selfie mode or normal mode), and there's another button on the side that you push in to change the tilt, with a tension adjustment on the other side. There are a variety of buttons on the front to control your shooting. There's a photo button to take a photo, zoom controls to zoom in or out, a movie button to start or stop filming, a C1 button that lets you assign a custom function (on the ZV-1 it defaults to the background defocus setting), and a lock button that obviously locks the other buttons out so you don't press them by accident. The tripod function works really well. At the default angle of the stick, the tripod flips out and keeps the camera completely upright, which is perfect. It's solid and doesn't slip. I noticed another reviewer said the device doesn't work with RAW photos - they didn't say which camera they're using but that's definitely not the case with the ZV-1 - it simply works as a Bluetooth remote and takes a photo in whichever mode you're currently using. That's the same with all Sony cameras, so it sounds very much like a user error. Overall I'm very pleased with this device and it'll be staying on the camera! 👇🏻 If you find this review or the photos helpful, please click the helpful button below!

At the right price, this is a great add-on
I like this tripod a lot, it's so versatile and I get a lot of use out of it, but the RRP is high. If you can get it with discounts or a bundle offer, then I highly recommend it. A few things I really like: 1. Stand and display It's great to have your ZV-1 or other compact camera sitting on this whilst you're charging the camera or transferring data. I personally feel that my camera is quite slippery and I'd hate to accidentally knock it off the table. However, with the camera sitting on this bluetooth handgrip in tripod mode it feels secure and safe. I have my camera mounted to this overnight to keep it on display. 2. Taking shots lower to the ground I like to take videos and photos of products whilst they're sitting on a variety of surfaces, sometimes on the ground. You can get great angles with this bluetooth grip for detailed shots. 3. Good for big hands It makes handling compact cameras a lot easier. The controls on my ZV-1 are especially small but when mounted to this tripod it's so much easier to use. I can imagine that people suffering from RSI or joint pains might appreciate this too as you won't have to hold the small camera whilst adjusting the tiny dials and controls. 4. Remote control The remote control functions work even when your camera is not mounted onto the grip. That means you can set your studio up and start/stop your recording with just a press of the button. I love this feature as it means my framing won't accidently move and I spend less time getting up and down off my seat. I use the record button on this remote far more than the one on my actual camera. 5. Ergonomics It just feels good to hold. It feels nice and solid whether it's in tripod mode or grip mode and it's easy to switch between the two. I always feel like my camera is safe when mounted to this. Bonus reason I like that it doesn't have a built in rechargeable battery as it means that years down the line, if I still want to use it all I have to do is replace the flat lithium batteries with one I can purchase easily at the supermarket. Just don't forget to bring your old batteries with you for recycling! I often buy accessories for my tech and end up leaving them in a draw to be forgotten after a few uses. Not so with the Sony GP-VPT2BT. If my camera isn't mounted to a tripod, then it's mounted to this grip. From the amount of use I've already gotten out of this, it's been worth the money. Speaking of money, I knocked off one star because the RRP is high and I don't believe that it's worth picking up for £169. But if you can find it on sale or at a bundle price, it's definitely worth picking up. [Music removed from my review due to copyright]

Great addition to my Sony ZV E10 II
This will make life so much easier when recording so I don't need to keep running back to the camera between takes. First impressions - zoom intuitive and connection good. A worthwhile addition to the camera if it's what you need to make life easier! Don't think I will use it as a tripod, it's small - and I need overhead shots but it would be great if you need it to steady/hold the camera while out and about as it's compact and lightweight - basically the size of a tv remote but a bit chunkier.

A must buy for vlogging / travel
Really good attachment accessory, travelled abroad capturing some great stills / videos while on the move and it's secure complimenting the build quality of the camera (ZVE10). Functions are easy to use via Bluetooth and with lens stabilisation there's hardly any shakes and wobbles when vlogging on the move.

Its Sony - so it Works
I previously had a similar item from a different manufacturer that to be honest was not very good. I looked at this Sony item and carefully considered the cost. But as they say “you get what you pay for” and with this item the build quality is wonderful. It’s made of strong materials and provides a very stable platform if you are using it in tripod mode. Something essential if you are trusting an expensive camera to it. The connection to the camera base is very secure, so again if using this as a hand-held device you can do do safe in the knowledge the camera is securely held in place.

It just works. And more versatile than pictures suggest.
Notably, as well as using this as a tripod, you can also use it as a hand-held remote, starting recording at a distance. I am very glad I bought this along with the ZV-1

Very expensive for what it is
It's a small table-top tripod / selfie handle with a built in camera remote -- it does what it's supposed to do I guess, but very expensive for what it is. I returned mine because it was missing its carry pouch -- but then I found one for half-price, second hand, and got that instead (and that did come with the pouch). The build quality is fantastic, but I think the price should be closer to £60 (rather than the £112 advertised at time of writing this review).
