is this good to use with a home projector?

Yes IF the images you project were produced in 3-D, also called anaglyphic images or anaglyphs. 3-D videos are available. The glasses will also work with 3-D comics that are anaglyphic.

Do these glasses work in 3d content on a mac retina display

I do not know. My experience is that the red filter is way too strong. I would suggest finding a better option. I do not recommend these glasses.

can i request for only the red colour lenses? Its for an art project.

I dont know. It might be possible to improvise all red lenses with the cardboard frames.
