Excellent Day to Day or Working Laptop
Works like a charm, been using it to work at home during lockdown for Coronavirus and it's handled nine hours of constant use with HDMI upscaling to two screens without a problem. It's quick opening and navigating Windows, conference calling on Microsoft Teams is no problem and it handles Citrix remote connectivity comfortably. Not found any issues multi tasking and the fan is very quiet when it kicks in, the keyboard and track pad are reassuringly responsive and screen colouration is fine with different filters and resolutions available in settings. Only minor point of criticism is no backlight to the keyboard but easily remedied with a usb light as there's three usb ports.I've seen mention in other reviews that the screen is washed out but I really can't say I'm finding that, perhaps if you're into gaming or streaming movies it might be but for day to day use this is a fine piece of kit at a mid range price. If you want loads of on board storage you're only getting 256GB (35GB used by system) here unless you add an external HDD and maybe DVDR. I've got a 1TB HDD connected and it reads and saves to this very quickly, I haven't tried running anything from the external HDD but with 8GB of RAM it really should cope with anything.I get about five hours out of the battery on a full charge and that's in constant use in double screen with WiFi, it charges to full from 20% in just under an hour but the trickle charge at the end at around 98% can a bit annoying if like me you like to see 100% on the battery meter before you unplug it.Finger print sensor is accurate and being an SSD the boot and shutdown times are seconds not minutes. All in all a great piece of kit for both working and day to day stuff, bags of internal power to cope with most things although I can't really comment on gaming or streaming, I use an Nvidia Shield for that kind of malarkey.

Powerful piece of technology! Extremely satisfied with it!
I've bought this laptop in April 2020, and after all this time, the battery life is still great! What impressed me from the start is that comes with preinstalled Windows 10, and the setup is made through voice commands, with the help of the Cortana Assistant. It can run most of the popular games with the hardware it has. I used to play League of Legends. The camera has a good quality and the fact that it is hidden in the keyboard is an ingenious way of keeping your privacy. It definitely does not have a good angle for meetings/streaming if it stands flat on the desk/table, but this can be solved easily with an adjustable laptop stand. The fingerprint scanner incorporated in the power button makes it very easy to log on to the system and authorize different things that require verification. The sound quality (when listening to music or watching movies) is great! The microphone quality is not great. I use an external studio-type microphone. It doesn't have Ethernet cable input, but I use an external USB to Ethernet adapter and it works great! It also doesn't have CD/DVD ROM, but if you really need one, you can use an external one.Huawei Share is also a great feature, as you can connect your Huawei phone to this powerful machine, and you can also use the laptop to make phone calls. All in all, it is an amazing piece of technology!

Love it!
I usually have Lenovo laptops etc but the last one was very disappointing and this seemed to be a good machine for the price. It was quick and easy to set up, the link to my Samsung phone works seamlessly and so nice to not to have to pfaff around with cables. It responds quickly, even allowing for the fact it's new, and doesn't seem full of bloatware. The keyboard suits me fine as does the touchpad. I've not used the camera and I like the fact it is tucked away but can understand how it might be a problem in use. Fingerprint security is working fine. The screen display is nice and clear and more than bright enough. The sound quality is more than good enough for what I use it for: audiobooks, listening to a local Silverband, videos of the sea. Saving to D drive isn't an issue. The build quality seems good - better than my last Lenovo. The fan is very quiet and doesn't often cut in. Battery charging is quick and a charged battery is lasting about 8-9hours, depending on how much work the laptop is doing. All in all, I think this is an excellent laptop

A good buy - apart from the touchpad --- and the USB C charging port
I read the reviews before I ordered this laptop, so I was expecting it to have no touch screen, and it doesn't. Fingerprint sensor is there, and it works. It arrived quicker than expected, and it's well packed, looks like a high end laptop, very smart and light, and it's easy to set up. The screen is bright and clear, it boots up quite quickly, and the USB C power input works very well, it also doubles as a fast charger for my phone, which is a bonus. 8GB of RAM is plenty, and the 256GB storage is adequate for my needs right now, I might swap it out for a 500GB drive later....looks easy enough to do. My only niggle with this laptop is the touchpad, which is *very* sensitive, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. A good buy, I'm happy with it.EDITNow that I've had this laptop a couple of months I've come back to knock off a star, as the touchpad is driving me nuts. Sometimes it seems to freeze up and I can't get control of the pointer, it's truly awful, to the point I was thinking of sending it back. What I've done instead is buy a rigid mousemat and a wireless mouse, which work perfectly and I've now got smooth and *consistent* control of the mouse pointer. Such a shame, as otherwise this is an excellent laptop.EDIT AGAINWell, now I've had this laptop for 8 months I thought I'd come back and extend my review. I bought a new 500GB SSD drive, this one (Sabrent 512GB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD) swapped it out, and sold the 256GB SSD it came with on an auction site. It's a doddle to make the change using some decent cloning software (Macrium Reflect), and now I've doubled the size of my C drive.I also installed a second hard drive, if you open the back of the laptop you'll see an empty drive bay next to the battery. Huawei don't make it easy to fit your own 2nd hard drive, it needs a special ribbon cable, which you can find on an auction site for under 6 quid, but once you've got that then its ridiculously easy. I bought a cheap 500GB SSD hybrid drive for under thirty pounds, and with my new ribbon cable it was fitted in ten minutes.I'm really pleased with this laptop, I use it every day, it's fast and quiet, and now I've got the hard drives upgraded I've got lots of storage. The only slight niggle is that there's no way to increase the RAM above 8GB as it's soldered in position, but so far that hasn't really caused any problems. An excellent laptop, I expect it to give me years of service.EDIT ONE LAST TIMEThere is a big problem with USB C port used for charging this laptop. It's pretty flimsy and poorly designed, after about 18 months it just stopped charging....the internal pins come away from the motherboard, and the fix is changing the motherboard. I have another MateBook, and exactly the same thing happened, the USB C port failed. So beware... this is a great laptop, but the charging port is no good.

Awesome
Lovely working laptop, incredibly fast, doesnt come preloaded with bloatware, easy to set up though the plug caused a few moment until realising the "earth" plasting pin actually pops up so it will fit standard plug sockets, that would be the only niggle, everything else goes nicely and its been on now for over 5 hours and its still cool, very light too and the screen is impressive enough, even better when its turned on the graphics for what I do is absolutely splendid, touch pad responding well, no issues so far which previous laptops I had to configure the touchpad to stop unwanted zooming etc, I think whoever gets this laptop and gets passed the innitial WTF moment with the plug (have never encountered one before) is going to be delighted, I know I am. There is or was ยฃ100 off it too, if still the case don't hesitate, it feels and acts like a very high end laptop. Really can't fault it.

Great value for money laptop
So after about 8 years into having my old laptop I decided to get a new one. I came across this Huawei matebook D and can't say I have been disappointed! First of all the screen is satisfactory. maintains image/video quality at different angles and resists sun glare which is useful. The Camera is annoying because it is at a low angle, so when you're looking at your screen chatting to mates on zoom for example it looks like you are looking into space lol. the Ryzen 5 chip is SUUUPER quick, I use my laptop quite heavily across work, social media, gaming etc and it maintains app and computer speeds even when multitasking with various tabs. battery life....boyyy this was a lot better than I thought it would be. lasted on average 9 hours. With netflix etc it lasted about 7. Overall a solid day to day laptop that just gets the job done. Ahhh the only annoying other annoying thing is that the keyboard doesn't have a backlight, but if you don't use your laptop late night (for example in dark settings) then it's fine

Probably the best sub 600 laptop out there
In other parts of the world the 15D comes with. 1TB HDD as well as the 250gb ssd. It's not that hard to add one but does need a specific cable. This is a well specced machine, nice metal chassis, the screen for me is fine ( I'm not a fan of shiny screens on laptops)The start up is very fast and the finger print scanner excellent. If you want a laptop for a combination of work and play this is good bang for buck.Edit. Just fitted a second hard drive with a sata flex lead and sata to flex hard drive adapter. Search your favourite auction site. So now have a 1tb data ssd as well as the 250gb one for the os. It took me 10 mins with a torx T5 screw driver and the kit

A good starter Windows Laptop but....
This purchase was yo replace the 2018 Matebook 15D which was an impulse purchase.Strange to say that the older version was actually better in use than the 2020 release.I gave the 2018 model to my mepher, who loves it.I was disappointed with the scteen and th lack of a full USB C port, given that there is s growing range of ISB C accessoies. I have a USB C portable SsD drive which flies on my Office laptop with a USB data port, and shows what a big waste of future proofing the Huawei could have had.Overall for the basic user wanting to do mobile working, web surfing, facebook etc, it is more than adequate but even basic photo editing is let down by screen resolution and colour rendition.I will use it toll June 2021 before moving along within the family but my reqiitement for mor serious photo editing will, finally see my move to Apple MacBook.Final thought - the Matebook D is a well built and capable laptop, but there are too many compromises. As said by above, it is a well biand presented laptop.
