Excellent introduction to the TCG.
Bought this for my son's 8th birthday as he wanted to try getting into the Pokémon TCG. The fact it comes with two decks is great as it is ready to play a match right out of the box (after reading the rules). The decks are pretty basic in terms of abilities when compared to other decks in the Pokémon TCG but for beginners, this is perfect. The rules are well set out and easy to follow, plus you get the codes to redeem the decks in the online version too should you want to.Some reviews have said that the decks are uneven and one is easy better than the other but so far in c. 50 games with it, the winning percentage for each deck is roughly 50/50. Being a TCG, the hand you have is quite key to whether you can win or you'll struggle but there are no glaring cards that make one deck immediately stronger than the other. All in all, this has provided hours of fun and is a great introduction to the TCG for younger players, especially given it has two of the most recognisable Pokémon as the deck characters.

Perfect introduction to Pokémon
These are a great introduction to Pokemon trading card game for anyone looking to get into it without too much to grasp from the start. There's no GX, tagteam or anything cards like that and no cards that poison or burn, so you don't have to worry about tracking that. As far as I could see, there's not even any severe elemental disadvantages, so no multiplied attack damage or anything. It's still not made so simple to be useless, however, it still feels like Pokemon and you're still learning the core aspects of the game. I bought this to pay with my girlfriend who has always been into the video games, but never played the card games and we had loads of fun swapping decks with one another and playing a bunch of games. These decks in particular are really quick to pick up and learn, so these are perfect for any age. Evee and Pikachu are probably two of the most iconic and beloved characters, so anyone with a passing interest is going to have a blast evolving them and getting the hang of building a good hand. Some of the reviews mentioned balance, but I have to disagree with those that said these are not balanced, I found them to be as balanced as any other game of Pokemon I've ever played. They both obviously feel quite weak in comparison to a custom deck, or even any of the modern theme decks, but I felt they were totally in tune with one another for sure.Aside from the decks, you also get two copies of a simple rules booklet that covers all the core aspects of the game along with touching on some of the more offbeat rules like Mulligans etc. It's well presented and laid out logically to learn whilst you play. The weakest aspect of this set is the playmat, which is just a fold out paper diagram really, I didn't use it and can't imagine it lasting long, but you definitely don't need it to play anyway and if nothing else, it does teach you how to lay out your hand.Overall I thought these are a great way for anyone to learn to play. For adults, you'll probably graduate to some of the more complex, modern theme decks very fast, but these are amazing for learning the core of the game and still remain fun to play. For kids, I can't imagine a better way to learn the actual rules for play. The price is also extremely fair in comparison to other decks, so I really do think that whilst these decks might lack for seasoned players, as an introduction, these are definitely the way to go and a lot of fun to play.

Good value but horrendously unbalanced
I bought these to get a nice balanced pair of decks that we could play with as a family, because my eldest's collection of GX etc. don't make for a fun game for the other player.Alas these feel almost as unbalanced. Often is the case with these that whoever gets the Eevee deck will wipe out Pikachu without losing a Pokémon.I would have thought they could have made even a slightly balanced pair of decks easily enough as the decider of games with these seems to be whoever wins the 'who is playing with Eevee deck' coin toss at the start.Giving three stars as you get a lot of decent cards for not too much money. Tempted to give a one star on how well they play against each other though.

Signs of previous use and some bad damage to cards
As an introduction to Pokémon TCG, this is a good product for kids. However the one I received had already been opened and used, making some of the cards worthless for collecting. Was sold by Amazon directly and I had damaged the outer packaging during opening so could not return. Buy with caution, or stick to your local trusted stores where possible when buying PTCG.

Packages are not footballs. Stop kicking them
The product itself is super fun and luckily the cards were in good condition but it was packaged horribly. I was considering keeping it unopened in box but when I saw how beat up the box was I knew there was no point in keeping it fresh. Hope you can fix the packaging issue as returning a gift type item is very inconvenient when someone wants to get a last minute gift.
