I love old movies and famous movie stars, I watched it as a child and still enjoy it.

I've long awaited 're-viewing' this stab from my past. The 1956 French version of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME was a modest success, staring English speakers Anthony Quinn & Gina Lollobrigida and was the first cinematic color version. The dialogue, characterizations and cinematography are stilted and choppy. However, Victor Hugo's original story essentially remains intact especially the ending. ***Buyer beware. Confirm you are purchasing an English language version. and was the first cinematic color version.

Have been looking for years for this version of this movie. Love Anthony Quinn and Gina Lollabridgida. This one is more of an opera type production than a movie.

I first saw this Film in the 50's and had long had it on my wish list. It is almost 2 Films, the first half is an annoying play act. The second half is all Quinn and his acting and his makeup are both remarkable.It's a pity that the Director did not know that from the doors of Notre Dame the Seine is only a few metres away and hence his buildings and street would have been in the river.
