Yes. The unit has a sturdy, metal clip. It fits snugly over a belt or waistband.

are batteries needed or is there a rechargable battery in this unit? how long does the battery last if used continuously?

A battery comes with the unit. I'm really not sure how long the battery lasts as I don't use it continuously and our recharger is old and doesn't work efficiently. Sorry.
