NETGEAR WiFi Range Extender EX5000 - Coverage up to 1500 Sq.Ft. and 25 Devices, WiFi Extender AC1200

We have found this to be an excellent WiFi extender. Works as described.

Needed to extend the wifi and this did the trick.I had to setup new SSIDs since this would not communicate via WPS, not sure if that was on my router or the extender.The instructions say to connect to the extender and launch a webpage, they list it as url.net. This did not work, but if you use Url.com it works.

This range extender does do exactly what it says it will. I am using it to extend a 5G network to a backroom in the house that had a super weak signal from the main router. The extender is about 45 to 50 feet from the main router and seems to pick up the signal just fine. Now the speed advertised is way higher than I have been able to achieve. Using the 5G signal directly from my router I get download speeds of around 550mbps. Using the range extender I get between 100mbps and 110mbps. The speed tests on the extender were done standing withing 2 feet of the extender, 10 feet away, and about 20 feet (line of sight) and the download speeds were pretty constant. Not a huge issue for me as I'm not trying to use the extender for gaming, just streaming movies and music mostly and using my laptop and phone. The extender came with minimal packaging, which I actually appreciate. I don't like having small items packaged in large boxes with all kinds of packing materials I have to dispose of. The included instructions were pretty simple and easy to follow. Setup start to finish took less than 10 minutes. I was able to use the WPS linking which makes setup super simple. I do have a Netgear router supplied by my ISP, I don't know it that made linking any easier or not. Once setup, I accessed the extender's internal settings on my laptop and set it up how I wanted it. There are a lot of extra features available so if you are a novice with these types of appliances you might want to ask someone for some help on some of the more technical settings. I like that I can log in and see how many things are currently logged into or using the extender and what they are (computer, phone, TV, Amazon Echo Show, etc.). The range extender has been online for about a week now and I have had no problems with it. I have had to unplug the extender a couple of times to restart it but that was not the fault of the extender, it is a problem with the equipment supplied by my ISP. So, to that point, if your internet shuts off or your router gets restarted you might need to unplug the extender to reacquire the necessary signal to extend your Wi-Fi. I give this range extender 4 stars rather than 5 simply because of the slower download speeds. Again, if all you want to do is basic streaming and web surfing this extender works great, even when you have 6 or 7 things using it. Would I buy another one if I decide to extend our Wi-Fi signal the other direction in our house? Yes, I would. Simple and effective for what I need.

UPDATE: 2 months after purchase, the range extender will not connect to my router, and the mywifiext.net site certificate has expired and will not let me connect to the site thru the router or otherwise.Amazon Refuses to refund my money for sending me a faulty product and their tech support was of no assistance. WARNING: DO NOT PURCHASE!!!Amazon sent me a refurbished one without telling me, as other reviews have said. I can see why so many people returned them, as I was so frustrated by the setup process that I nearly returned it myself.The quick-start manual included in the package does NOT give enough information about how to properly set up the device, and I needed to visit the official product support page for this specific model to get more thorough instructions.Also, the “mywifiext.net” website they give you doesn’t work if you don’t use the right internet browser. They don’t tell you what internet browser you should use, but Google Chrome worked for me. If you are on a Mac, do NOT use Safari.Ever since I set it up though, it works like a dream. I use it to rebroadcast my apartment’s shoddy 5GHz Wifi Signal that only reaches 10ft away from the main unit for some reason. My landlord refused to split the SSIDs and so I purchased this to essentially do that myself. The extender’s settings allowed me to set the unit to only receive and rebroadcast the 5GHz signal and now I get a strong signal strength and MUCH faster connection.Still, Amazon should have sent me a new one like I paid for, not a used one. The listing said I may receive a refurbished one, but I shouldn’t have to pay the same price for it.If you don’t want to risk getting a refurbished one, I’d think twice about purchasing this. But if you’re okay with possibly getting a used one, and you’re okay with going through a lot of hassle to set it up, then go for it! It genuinely works very well.

It was easy to install. I live in a rather small place and my bedroom tv would would have a few apps that were slower or would turn off suddenly. They have still done so a few time but I do have a stronger signal in my second bedroom. I really haven't noticed a huge difference.

My 2nd floor rooms had started to loose the wifi signal, especially when I was streaming movies or working upstairs! Ugh!Not only did installing my NETGEAR range extender completely solve the problem, NETGEAR Customer Service guided me through the installation such that I understood everything that I had questions about!Thank you, NETGEAR! P.S. Did I mention the accessibly affordable price!! I’m thrilled with this range extender!

This was the 3rd wifi range extender that I bought to extend the wifi out into the yard for the one camera that didn't have wifi; and, this was the only that worked. The glow of the camera can be seen from first night camera's picture. The 2nd photo is the shot taken from the camera via internet acknowledging that it is picking up the wifi signal from the Netgear wifi range extender. The other two I had to send back because their signal just doesn't reach the camera; and, it is about 20 feet away. And as can be seen from the 1st photo (which is where the WIFI Extender is placed, right next to the camera), there are no turns or walls to obstruct the wifi signal going to the glowing wireless camera at the other end.

Funciona bastante bien... buen alcance y ya es del tipo ac, asi que da buena velocidad. Facil de configurar y usar.

Es muy fácil de instalar pero muestra ciertas limitaciones para traspasar la señal en muros, eso limita su alcance. Lo recomiendo sin perder de vista esta limitación, tampoco ofrece una opción para conectarse mediante un cable de ethernet.

Excelente repetidor y facil de configurar, compatible con los modems de telmex, buena capacidad de cobertura y la velocidad es notable

Funciona excelente, buen alcance en señal.

Muy mal el producto, se conecta y se desconecta en él celular, cada vez que salgo de la casa se desconecta por completo y ya no vuelve a conectarse, solo aparece como; intentando conectarse a internet y de ahí no pasa.
