First of all, my cockatiels have carved one of these (there are two in the cage) into a shiv, or arrowhead-I guess- it depends on how you look at it. It is helpful not only to help keep them busy, but also gives them an opportunity to put their claws in a relaxed flat position instead of being curled around a traditional perch all the time, especially if their nails get a bit too long between trimmings. I have bought these twice, and will again.

This is a lot easier than wrapping your bird in a towel if it’s not trained or accustomed. I hang toys over or next to it so that my cockatiels are encouraged to stand and walk on this platform perch as it files their nails while they play or go about. I picked orange because it resembles sandstone in a lot of wild cockatiel habitats in Australia. Gives my cage a nice naturalistic look like a sandstone platform. Plus the birds like to rest or stretch their feet on it.

I have two male cockatiels. They are father and son and both have their own separate cages for reasons, but they do love each other. I bought two of these wooden square porch like perches to put in each of their cages. My oldest cockatiel sleeps on it at night and sometimes perching on it during the day, My other cockatiel I've only seen him on it once or twice but he's a little more active than his daddy, I would say it's a great little addition to your bird's cage or any other little animal. One thing to know is with birds sometimes if you put something new in their cage it takes them a long time for them to finally use it or get used to it. The thing I've noticed about my birds is at first they don't really care for anything new but just give it some time and then eventually they'll use it and love it.

My picky 22-year-old cockatiel likes this perch after he finally got close enough to try it after it was in his cage for three weeks. I bought it solely for the reason that I wanted him to have something flat to stand upon. He enjoys occasionally chewing the edges of it. I'm a little concerned about him swallowing whatever this is made out of since it looks like wood so I'm keeping an eye on him. The top is also of that rougher material that is supposed to help keep nails trimmed down but I'd rather it have a smoother top so that I wouldn't have to worry about it scuffing the bottom of his feet. My bird has pooped on the exposed sides of this and I was able to scrub it off with water/soap and it did not swell the couple of times I've done so.Additionally, the product photo of the cockatiel on the perch is not to scale. Please see my cockatiel in the attached image and note he is a little small for cockatiels.Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase, but like with any toy, keep an eye on your bird to avoid choking hazards.

Decided to give this perch a try when outfitting my cockatiel's new cage. Waited several days before writing a review and leaving feedback to allow Fred, to get used to the perch. The verdict, excellent. Fred uses the perch to reach millet trees, and seed sticks I've placed at the perch. My bird seems to enjoy this perch, as do I. Easy to clean, which was a pleasant surprise, as I was worried about cleaning the perch, with its sandy surface. My cockatiel seems to be at ease with the perch now . Very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this perch to anyone.

I bought this perch for my two cockatiels and upon opening the package I discovered the metal butterfly screws and washers looked rusted. Almost like moisture got trapped inside the package and eroded the galvanized material on the surface. One of the screws came loose while installing the perch inside the cage and needed to be replaced. The perch itself is good quality for the price but the metal hardware it came with wasn’t.

No CONS to start withIt looks nice, it was easy to install, was as described and received quickly.Best of all our Cocatiel normally doesn't care for new things being added to her environment, took to this perch and spins more time on it than off of it. She is and was from the moment she saw it, intrigued and climbed onto it and since it has become her next best friend after me of course. I am just happy to see her so happy with a new item in her cage. I plan on purchasing a few more for her cage so she has several places to rest her aged bones and she is almost 25 years old now. So I personally thank the makers of this wonderful perch

My birds love them and stand and chew on them often. I just had to replace one after about 6 months because they chew on them so much. They are like sand paper, so it is a little harder to clean just because it tears up the paper towel but it does clean up. I have bought a few of these and will do so again. Perfect size for my cockatiels.

I expected it to be larger and sturdier. Disappointed. Something I could of made in 5 minutes
