Smoother cut and lasts longer.
The ceramic blade holds up much better than the metal blade. In fact, I got this replacement blade because I had bought an Oster clipper blade and the top (metal) blade kept getting stuck and hung up. Since it was a new blade that I bought, I decided to get the ceramic replacement and put it on. Now the blade works perfect every time. The ceramic blades are more durable, hold up better when the blade gets warm, and lasts so much longer.

Oster Fast Feed clippers & Andis Course Ceramic Cutters, the PERFECT Combo!
The Oster Fast Feed clippers are well-built, super quiet, and MADE IN THE U.S.A. The ONLY option missing was this Andis Ceramic Edge Course Cutter, to replace the stock Cutter. It took roughly 10 minutes to have everything set up (5 mins remove and replace/5 mins to set the Zero Gap and properly align the blades). I'm a newbie, and I wanted to take my time getting everything set up, if you have experience,n or want to speed the process, you may not need the same amount of time. The Andis Ceramic Edge is VERY sharp! I cut my own hair, simple, almost-skin bald, military-style. The Oster and this new cutter are PERFECT! MY clippers got lower to my scalp; perfect length. The butter-smooth action, ultra-quiet Oster performed flawlessly! Make sure to take your time to set the Zero Gap alignment, if you don't know how to set it, check out YouTube, it's EASY. Asides from the nice contrast look, nice lowered hair length, I took about 20 minutes cutting my hair, I felt ZERO heat from the clippers! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Andis Course Ceramic Cutter! Take care to: NOT drop the blade on a hard surface, although it's SUPER SHARP, it's still ceramic, and could get damaged if dropped. Align the blades, oil them up, and enjoy the Oster and Andis combination! If you attempt to Zero Gap your Oster Fast Feed clippers without the Andis Course Ceramic Cutter, it won't be a true Zero Gap. The Andis' teeth are longer than the stock Oster's, which will allow the true Zero Gap.

NOT PLASTIC
I'm a professional barber and have been using these blades for over 6 years. (see photos, forgive the paint wear, these are well used!) A lot of reviewers are not professionals and they don't know how to assemble their blades and one recent review thinks this is plastic. It is ceramic. That means it won't bind up like metal on metal clipper blades, it will not heat up and it will last much longer (provided you do not drop your clippers.) I have bought MANY of these blades and used them in my Oster 76/Model 10 and Andis blades, replacing old metal blades that have bound up and upgraded my fast feeds with one -as shown (there is now a better option for the fast feeds that fits without modding the housing!)Here's what non-professionals need to know. When you replace the blade, make sure it is perfectly aligned with the metal teeth and only a tiny fraction below the top teeth, NO overhang and not too far in. Diagonal alignment will make the clippers bind up and pull hair. Apply a drop of semi permanent lock-tite in the screws to keep the blade from vibrating loose. Also ALWAYS brush your blades thoroughly after use and oil them by dropping two drops of clipper oil into the teeth while the clipper is on and moving. If you are going to store them for more than a week, you will also want to oil the rails, anywhere there is friction. Then brush them and oil them again before use. You don't have to do that much maintenance if you use them every day, but if they're stored, dusty or just unused and cold you'll want fresh oil. Those two things will keep your blades running smoothly for YEARS!

Excellent minus 1 star for radiused cutting edge
Blade is mostly excellent. It looses a star because the cutting edge is not straight as other reviews have mentioned. I was aware of the potential issue before I ordered and verified the irregularity by setting the teeth against a mirror and testing to see if the blade would rock side to side (it did). The middle teeth sit slightly proud of either outside edge. I decided it wasn't enough of a difference to bother returning it. I had to take more care when installing to ensure that the center teeth were not proud of the guard which would have led to me cutting myself. Technically the outside edges of the blade leave the hair slightly longer than at the center of the cut, but the difference is so minimal that I cannot tell the difference after having shaved my head. The blade does cut noticeably faster and more reliably than the stock Oster blade. It was also cooler once I finished. Overall I am pleased, but if Andis will fix the issue in their manufacturing process this blade would easily be 6/5 stars.

Perfect cutting blade for Oster Fast Feed
I purchased this, along with a set of Oster Fast Feed clippers, after reading several articles and watching a few videos on YouTube about how well they complement each other. I've been cutting hair (my own, as well) for over 20 years, and this is by far the best set of clippers I've ever had. When the blade is used to replaced the cutting blade on the Oster Fast Feed, there is no special adjustment required to get a zero gap. Because of the size of the Andis blade, simply setting it where the stock was achieved the zero gap almost automatically. And the cuts, whoa. The fades and tapers I can get require far less time and effort. For the home barber, the Andis/Oster combination is a win-win and you may never want to use another clipper after this. For a combined $75, the clippers and blade pay for themselves within a month (2 if you get hair cuts less frequently). This is a no-brainer if you ask me.

Good product, the Coarse Cutter has inaccurate photo in the listing
The Coarse Cutter has 18 teeth, not way more like it shows in the photo. Also it's white, not silver. It was $5 cheaper than the other Andis Coarse Cutter listing on Amazon. Doesn't matter if it says for pets in the title, it's the same product. Fits my Oster Fast Feed perfectly. You can easily zero gap with this if you want. This is my first ceramic cutter. I've only used it once so 3 stars on longevity, but I noticed it doesn't get as hot as metal did and I'm expecting it to last a long time.

Works fine so far
Bought to replace my broken ceramic blade. It was easy to install. I have used it once so far on both my dogs and it seems to work fine. So far it’s a good replacement blade.
