Love this axe. Perfect size if you can only have one for general use.
I picked this one reluctantly, since the 28” version was out of stock. I was worried it would be a little too short. I’m 5’8” with longer arms. This turns out to be the perfect size for most every felling, bucking, and splitting task I’ve encountered so far. I live on thirty acres and have no central heat. All the warmth in my house comes from burning wood. This axe has proven up to the task. Granted, I also use a chainsaw for processing wood, but I am very happy with this axe. Handle is finished well and the factory edge got really sharp after a few passes with file and stone. The edge has proven easy to maintain and it has taken a beating.

I guess I got a bad one...
Council tool has a reputation for producing a quality product. I don't know how the one that I bought thru Amazon managed to get out of the factory! The grain of the handle ran nearly horizontal to the ax head, a break waiting to happen! Then to make things worse, the ax was visibly off center.I returned it immediately without ever swinging it once!It was a dangerous ax.Long story short I then went to a reputable dealer and received a top notch beautiful ax from council tool. I'll never buy anything from that Amazon store again. Period.Less than 1 star!

Handle length isn’t measured like sledge hammers
The actual length of handle is 20.5”. Probably would make for a good camp axe. Short enough to fit in a backpack and climb a tree with, but not long enough to take full swings driving wedges or felling a decent size tree.

Quality Axe that is perfect size for 13yo at camp
Much easier for my 13yo to handle than the standard 4lb axe. The axe head is looks very well made and holds a great edge. Fits well in our camping gear.

Factory Rejects
The axe I got was definitely a factory reject. The handle wood grain was nearly perpendicular to the ax head. The ax handle was off center in the ax head. The ax edge was far to the left of center. Very dangerous ax! Buyer beware. Returned immediately.

Very handy
It's a bit awkward when you have only used a standard size axe before. This size is perfect for camping and tight spaces. Much better than a hatchet.
