How thick are the bands? They look very thin.

The actual band, inside the elastic protective sleeve, is over 1/4 inch in diameter starting with the red 25 pound band. That measurement increases as you go up in resistance. These bands are tubular and are much more durable than the flat resistance bands and with the protective sleeves, should last a long time dependent upon quality of product and manufacturing.

I can't figure out how to use the velcro straps at all. Any ideas?
