Taste from the childhood
I enjoyed this bread so much that I would have given it 6 starts if I could.I grew up in an Easter European country that has a variety of rye breads, from darker to lighter, and for many years I have been trying with mixed success to find proper versions of most of them in the UK.Whereas what's available from regular UK retailers has not been exactly terrible, most attempts range from okay to good at best. Karway's breads I've tried so far ranked quite high in this regard, and the Scalded Rye is absolutely the best and is the closest to a particular type of bread that I was crazy about as a child. (So was everyone at the time as far as I recall).It's so so tasty that as far as I am concerned it's perfect just with a good pinch of salt.It can also be enjoyed with such things as salted butter, pickled gherkins, fresh tomatoes or salami.If you are worried about it losing its freshness quickly, it's also nice toasted.It is probably one of the acquired tastes as it is as far from the taste of white bread as bread can be, but I would certainly trying it - you might discover you love it!

Very good flavour and texture
Great texture - a bit like a cross between bread and Jamaica ginger cake so not as heavy as it looks. Super hit of caraway seed. Toasts really well and is better than baigels for smoked salmon and cream cheese with home made sauerkraut. I am hooked!

Finally, proper high quality black bread arrived on Amazon after hundreds of years in existence :).
