Worked better than advertised.
I just purchased two ceiling fans for my garage. These fans are replacing two original light fixtures. The light fixtures were not strong enough for a ceiling fan, so I purchased two of these kits. I just finished installing the first one. This fit fine for a 24" span. The original electrical box was nailed to the truss. I was suprised how closely I could get the new box to the truss plate. It is very adjustable. Also, one side is sitting on a truss plate and this holds on to the truss plate just fine. This support is strong, even at the 24" width. It is definitely going to work for the 52" fans that I have. The fan doesn't wobble or move a bit. It feels SOLID. This support was very easy to install. I've never done this before, and the hardest part was enlarging the hole in the drywall. I am very happy and I will buy this again the next time I install a ceiling fan. Hope this helps.

Works well
I'm just a silly girl and was able to install this. Worked out really well. I love that it can extend as far as it does. My joists were pretty far apart. Fan does not move. I highly recommend better instructions though. It could have worded it better.

Hubbell 936 Ceiling Fan Box and Support
+1 - Item arrived on time, and not damaged +1 - Item is as described +2 - Item installed as it should, and I had no issues mounting a ceiling fan to it -1 - Installation was harder than it needed to be, and there were no separate instructions. Just some brief/poorly written instructions on the side of the box Thoughts: If you're looking at something like this, hopefully you've done your homework on what it is you're wanting to install, what type of access you have, how deep your ceiling is, where your studs are, etc? Helpful hint, check for cross studs. Just because you've determined that your studs are running one way doesn't mean that the builders didn't put a cross stud in - right where you wanted to put your hole. All in all, installation wasn't difficult. Cut my hole, extended the bar out to the 24" marker that was on the threads (helpful - there's also a 16" mark), shoved it in, made sure the feet were in the downward position, twisted until it was tight and it was difficult to turn the bar. The part that made installation a bit difficult was the bracket you slide onto the bar. There's nothing to hold it onto the bar, you just put your keyhole screws in, put the box up and hope you don't push it off the bar - which I did a couple of times. I ended up pinching the ears in the middle to hold the bracket in place - even though the instructions didn't say to do that. Once I did that I was able to align the keyhole screws, and complete the installation. The punchouts on the gang box were pretty sealed. I ended up having to take a mini sledge hammer to it to get it to punch open. If you're having difficulty getting the wire to feed through the tensioner, strip your wires out of the main jacket then feed it through. Overall it was pretty easy to install. This was my first bracket install without attic side access, and I successfully did it. The next one will be even easier.

Thank You For Inventing This!
I was trying to replace a boob light with a ceiling fan, only to discover the junction boxes were plastic, old and very brittle. They HAD to be replaced, especially to hold a fan. What to do? I spent days worrying about this problem until I ran across a video about this product, and it was just what the doctor ordered! It was as easy as it looks to install and VERY sturdy. No problem holding the weight of a fan. I had no idea how I was going to fix my problem until I found these guys. Whoever invented this saved my a**. Thank You!

Great for ceiling fan
Worked great. I needed to add a ceiling fan to a room that only had an outlet switch. Lowes only had new work boxes so this saved me the hassle of cutting a larger hole in my drywall. Iโll probably purchase it again for another room that I need to add a ceiling fan to.

Game changer!
This bracket did what it was supposed to do. Prior to the install I did my measurements and mounted it dead center where I wanted it. Installation was a breeze. Bracket seems to be very sturdy and would be able to hold up my ceiling fan without issue. I used this bracket even though I had access to my attic. Highly recommended!

Easy is the way to go
These things are great for an existing home. Cut a 4" circle BETWEEN your studs, and tighten down. Could not be any easier

A really sturdy retrofit support for mounting and supporting even a heavy ceiling fan safely. It is easy to slide into an existing ceiling hole, and can expand up to a 24โ ceiling joist spacing, then dig in to the wood and tighten by twisting the support 5 to 6 rotations. I could have even done a one-arm pull-up on this without fear after the teeth dig into the joists. Comes with a nifty electrical box the snaps onto the shaft and all hardware. This was a terrific and essential purchase for securely mounting a heavy ceiling fan.

I purchased a ceiling fan for my bedroom not paying any attention of how Iโm going to install it. I believed (stupidly) that I could attach it to the ceiling. Not the case when you have a plaster board one. This brace did the job bit perfectly highly recommend it and thank goodness Amazon sells it.

Great product. Easy to install. Holds the heavy chandelier no problem. This product saved me a ton of work and grief. It was easy to install even with the minimal instructions. I do wish it had an extra bonding provision. But overall I would recommend this product.

Appears to be very well made. I replaced a ceiling light with a ceiling fan. While the photo only shows an installation where the box is centered, lights/boxes are usually next to, or fastened to, a truss or joist, not centered between. Regardless, this product works for either application. This product saved me having to crawl up into my attic, remove insulation and either fit a wooden brace between two trusses or purchase a special box to screw solidly to the joist. It took me minutes to install this unit. My only concern or critique is that the barbs on each end might be slightly longer to pierce the wood deeper for a better grip. I may be concerned about nothing but if I were to improve the product that would be my only suggestion.
