Leaves

This is such a sweet little story, the simple text tells a tale of a bear's first experience with the changing seasons, and is perfect for the littlest listeners. The sparse text per page is great for when baby wants to turn the pages a lot faster than you can usually read. The variety of ways illustrations are displayed is nice too (full spread, in frames, etc). Overall, this is the perfect book to add to your baby's library to pique curiosity about nature and the seasons in a great size for little hands.

After having this out from the library continuously for...well, a really long time...we finally purchased a copy for our youngest child. It's short, simple, and sweet story with endearing colored sketches. All three children (ages 5, 2, and 8m) gather round when we read it. The 5 year old can also read it to her siblings, and it makes a satisfying early reader since it is familiar to her, yet without the contrived simplicity of many early readers.

Just an okay book. I like that that there are full sentences on the page and a clear plot line to follow. Minus one star because the pictures are little unclear and hard to understand. Overall it is a cute book but I feel there are other titles that would be are better for highlighting fall or the changing of seasons. Such as: Fletcher and the Falling Leaf. It follows the same idea of a fox who is trying to make sense of why leaves are falling off the trees and finally coming to the realization of what is happening. Another great seasons book is Four Puppies from Little Golden Books.

Amazing find for my granddaughter.

This is a book in which a young bear cub frolics through his first year of life, but then notices -- the leaves are beginning to fall! He tries sticking them back on the tree, but that's not satisfying. He ponders what else to do, but as he ponders he grows sleepy, so he gathers up the leaves, carries them into a cave, and goes to sleep. When he awakes, the now-bigger bear sees leaf buds on the trees. He welcomes them and feels they welcome him. A very short text with beautiful illustrations and a powerful message: there is a cycle to life, and satisfaction comes from living in tune with nature.

Such a wonderful, elegant, lovely story. If you're looking for a gentle bedtime tale, this book should be at the top of your list...

I bought this for my then 22 month old. It's a simple, sweet story. Great way to start talking about seasons. The illustrations are beautiful. Book size is perfect for her little hands.

Bought this book for my infant grandson and he instantly liked it. He is almost one now and still really enjoys it as do I.I have purchased a couple more for other babies.

I bought this for my almost-3 year old. I find it a simple and sweet story to introduce the coming Fall season. My son literally said, "I like this story." There isn't much text, but the story is beautifully told. I use it as a quick bedtime story, or I lengthen it by talking about the illustrations.
