Sister is new to our family, she was neglected at her previous home and after an accident she didn’t leave her bed for 2 years. Her back legs have unfortunately frozen in the exact position you see, which means they don’t go in the harness the way they’re supposed to. However, I still set everything up how you normally would, then I lay down a blanket or a small dog bed, and just lay her on top! It’s been about a week of using the wheelchair 3x a day for about 15 minutes, but today was her first day outside with her wheelchair. She did so good. She turned around for the first time, and attempted to roll in the grass! We don’t know how much longer Sister will be with us, and this is such an important addition to her life. It’s giving her the chance to experience movement again and you can see how happy she looks. I couldn’t be happier, truly! My only side note is that it really seems to pull her to the side, but her body is a bit angled and it could be that! It’s still a work in progress on what’s going to work the best for her but for only having this for a week she has made so much progress and I’m so proud and happy for her!! I would definitely recommend, it’s very sturdy and seems high quality. I’m not using it exactly as intended but you get the idea, and it’s worth the price! Shipping was much faster than expected, and assembly was super easy. Sort of a pain to raise the legs, but not a big deal and I don’t think most dogs will need that.

My 10yo Pom was diagnosed with IVDD and had managed it for the past 5 years, but his back legs are now nearly paralyzed. It got so bad this winter that he couldn’t even go for a walk which is what he lives for! He seemed so depressed, wouldn’t come out from under my bed, kept falling over all the time. Walkin’ wheels gave him a second chance to be the fun loving & active pup again! It literally took less than 15 minutes to get him used to it and see that it was a good thing. He loves running and walking again! He chippered up so much after our first walk, he was able to run and walk on grass pretty easily, it seems super durable and was super easy to adjust to his size. Looking forward to taking him walks and little hikes again! It is super sturdy, great quality and WORTH EVERY PENNY to see my little man enjoying life again!

*FRONT WHEEL ADDITIONS NOT FROM AMAZON* This is the wheelchair brand my nearby dog pt uses! The company it's beyond willing to help- they fixed the front wheels to accommodate my Bear. Only four stars because my package was missing the piece to be able to adjust the width that would make the wheelchair more comfortable for my dog. My dogs condition has limited the wheelchairs use to mostly indoors currently- however I feel very confident that the wheels would work outside and I am hoping to be able to verify that at some point! (: Wheelchair is strong and very mobile. Turns without resistance! Holds up my pug great (even when it only had two wheels) I believe I bought the medium size for him! Highly recommend this wheelchair brand for anyone with a less mobile animal😍😍😍😍😍💗❣️💙

My mini-dachshund blew a disc in her back, causing her to lose the use of her hind legs, and in her case surgery was unlikely to restore much if any of her mobility. Acupuncture treatments managed to restore her bladder and bowel control (Hallelujah!) as well as some movement and sensation in her tail and back legs, but walking doesn't appear to be in the cards for her, so it was time for a set of wheels, and these ones have been worth every penny! With the Walkin' Front Vest and the various straps and clips it takes to secure the dog properly, it's a lot to get used to, so at first she wouldn't move. I carried her outside where I figured she might be more motivated (she loves going for walks) and it took her about three steps to realize that this strange thing strapped to her body meant Freedom, and then she was off and (literally!) running with her tail wagging the whole way! The Walkin' Wheels Wheelchair is very well made and fairly easy to put together. (It took me maybe forty-five minutes to put it together and make the proper adjustments for her size, but I'm neurotic about following directions, so...) It does come with a strap that provides extra belly support if the dog needs it, which works perfectly fine thus far, although in the future I may order the optional belly support accessory. No regrets whatsoever in purchasing the Walkin' Wheels Dog Wheelchair! :-)

My 13-year-old pug cannot walk well now, with spine, hip, and back leg problems. I saw that this was Amazon’s Pick, which got me to look at it. The wheels looked simple enough and the reviews were largely positive. I was confident I could return these easily if they didn’t work. The wheels arrived in about 5 days. I started assembling the wheels right away, and immediately got stuck with the vague instructions and pieces of equipment that may or may not be relevant. I called Walkin Pets support (first of five calls) and they told me which pieces I actually needed and which were there for reasons they didn’t know, either. I realized fairly quickly that having no in-town support here in the Pacific NW, and having phone support M-F only Eastern time from New Hampshire, would be challenging. It was actually a major obstacle. I watched the brief videos on assembly, and didn’t find them helpful. I called twice more with specific questions about how to put together various parts since the instructions and the videos didn’t make this clear. For the second and third calls, the agents said that their videos were “very clear” and I would do well to watch them again. I did, but they weren’t. Colleen in particular was not willing to be bothered by my questions. She said she would send the video links (which I already had) and that was that. I got in touch with their fitting expert, Jillian, who was very kind and patient on the phone. I wish I could have visited Jillian in person so she could show me the steps, with my dog present. Jillian and I had both a long phone consult and then a scheduled video chat consult. Despite Jillian’s helpfulness, my pup and I couldn’t get the wheels to fit or even to work. My dog was resistant despite numerous treats and high praise. I knew i was working against a 30-day return deadline if I needed it. I reluctantly returned the wheels since they clearly would not work for my dog. They are pricey ($300 plus tax) as well. I was surprised to learn that I had to pay return shipping, which was over $30. I wasn’t aware of that when I ordered these. I remembered reviews here that mentioned getting a good chunk of money not refunded for various reasons. I followed the company’s cleaning instructions and took pictures of each part so I could show everything was clean and neatly packed. Despite this, I had a $25 “restocking fee” taken. I contacted Jillian, who said that was Amazon’s policy and not theirs. I contacted Amazon, and the agent said he would authorize the restocking fee refund from Walkin Pets. A month went by, and no refund on that fee. I contacted Amazon again, and the agent this time refunded the restocking fee. Why the 1* review? —while the construction was thicker than that of a much less expensive model available locally, it didn’t make much of a difference in fit or ease of use for my dog. —Assembly was a nightmare. Despite the instruction book, several important pieces of assembly instruction were left out. The manual needs to be rewritten for clarity. The videos, which are not helpful to those needing help, need to be redone and made clearer. —Customer service was hit or miss. Jillian was excellent. The two agents who simply referred me to their very short videos were not interested in hearing my specific questions. Colleen in particular was unhelpful, with a poor telephone manner (ie, rude). —The hidden expenses ($30 return postage; $25 restocking fee) were unpleasantly unexpected. God help you if you don’t 1) Clean the equipment like your life depended on it, and 2) keep the original packing materials. If one has a Walkin pets outlet locally, and can get in-person help, these wheels might work. They do require assistance with assembly. If you don’t have a Walkin Pets store there, I don’t recommend these wheels. It’s just too difficult to work with these given the lack of in-person support.

This has been a life changer for my sweet doggie. He was born with luxated patellas in both of his back legs and other hind end issues. We were able to do therapy and training for most of his life so that he had great mobility. Now that he is 13 years old, it has caught up with him. He has developed fused disks and bone spurs in his lower spine, so he has very limited movement and feeling in his back legs. This wheelchair has given him back some independence. He is able to go for walks, bathroom, and eat on his own. It is great exercise. He enjoys getting to interact with other dogs again. Totally worth the money and I wish I had purchased it sooner.

My little guy, a 14 year old Schnauzer Poodle Shih Tzu mix, lost the functional use of his back legs, four months ago, after he slipped going around the corner at high speed, on my wood floors. He is also 100% blind from diabetes, but has always been spectacularly game as evidenced by him going 100 miles an hour, completely blind. Initially I thought it might be the end for him. Our vets did not give much hope into full functional use of his back legs but I decided to try a cheap wheel chair, to see if he would take to it and he 100% did. There was no stopping him so, after three months in the cheapy chair, tearing up the back yard and eventually, even tackling a few porch stairs, to come in and out of the house, I decided to splurge and go with one of these top of the line ones. They had great reviews so I really thought we would be leveling up in style and easy comfort. Now I am not so sure. Initially I liked the looks of stability in this brand, with it's angled big wheels that looked like they would keep him upright but the wheels are even with the dogs hind legs so, should your dog decide he would like to step up onto something, like a porch step, as mine does or indoor stair step, the chair will become a hanging platform. No kidding. My little guy can go up and down a couple stairs in his cheapy chair, because the wheels extend out behind it to keep him from going over backwards but in the Walkin Wheels, because the wheels are even with the dogs hind legs, if a dog goes too perpendicular, it will flip them over backwards. Sometimes it will set my guy up in a perpendicular situation, where he is just hanging there like a toddler in a play swing but most of the time, it throws him all the way over onto his back, like a turtle and he is not amused by either. I am also not a fan of the front harness. It is confusing. Do I leave it on the dog? On the wheelchair? It detaches completely from the chair and videos instruct you to put the harness on the dog first, then attach it to the wheel chair. This means there is a very real chance of losing the dang thing or having another dog in the home, chew it up or take it outside and bury it. You can't leave it on the dog because it has attachments that fasten to the chair, that make it uncomfortable for a dog to lay on it's side. So, if the harness gets lost, the chair is useless. Oh I am sure they sell spares but I would rather just have a harness that stays attached to the chair, and does not have to be put on the dog, with every use. Additionally, having to put the harness on your dog, before attaching it to the chair, is time consuming and lacks the ease of in and out, one would expect with this expensive of a chair. When you have a dog that has to pee, all this extra fussing about will end up in accidents. It is also quite heavy compared to the cheapy chair. I am sure it is a great chair for taking to the beach or down the road with no curbs or things a dog may want to step up on or onto, as the videos show but if your dog likes to push the envelope, like my crazy old man does, they will not enjoy this chair. When I put my guy in it, he just stands there. When I take him out and put him in ole cheapy, he takes off. So now I have an expensive chair, gathering dust in the closet. Maybe it is because my dog is smaller and bigger dogs love this brand. Do with this review, what you will. For my money, I will just buy four more cheapy chairs, to keep on hand.

These wheels are so good. I did try cheaper and lighter weighted ones but when Henry stepped back it would flip him over. These are much sturdier and supportive. I ordered separately a different harness for these wheels as I feel this type of harness is more comfortable to wear. The pictures were taken on the first day of trying the wheels outside. You need to do it gradually as it can be exhausting and the dog needs to build the muscles at the front. I also used the belly band that came with it for extra support. Henry is very happy to be able to move around as he has become weak in the back legs and started dragging his legs. These wheels have given him a new lease of life. I’m so impressed with the options to adjust so that you can get it right. And the other harness I bought also adjusts too so where the clips are on the harness, you can unscrew and move them to go higher or lower. Really pleased with everything
