🔗 Stick with the best—bond like a boss!
3M 4950 VHB Mounting Tape is a 0.045-inch thick, double-sided acrylic foam tape designed for permanent, heavy-duty bonding. Measuring 1 inch wide by 15 feet long, it offers UV and temperature resistance, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. This tape replaces traditional mechanical fasteners by providing instant, invisible, and durable bonds on a wide range of materials including glass, metal, plastic, concrete, and wood.

Excellent adhesive tape
This VHB tape is an excellent alternative to epoxy or glue. It is very sticky don’t expect to get this tape off easily if you mess up. It works well for adhering things that are subjected to lots of vibration. The tape is very flexible and flexes under a load to prevent it from coming unstuck.

A great item for the toolkit
Ultra strong double stick. You may not think you need, or buy it for a single project, but you’ll be surprised how often you’ll be reaching for the stuff. I’ve used it, and its cousin (the thinner, gooier brown tape, which feels even stronger) to assemble projects with coroplast, repair food containers, make small signs with P-touch labels and clear acrylic stock, repair appliance facials and more. Need to attach chrome plated car logos? This will do it. Stick-on Velcro peeling off a hot surface? Back it with this stuff. I swear, it’ll make you eager to do some repairs!

Perfect for solar install on roof of RV
(Duplicate review to the one for the Tape rimer 94)I contacted 3M and asked which VHB tape to use for installing solar panels (aluminum brackets) to the roof of an RV (fiberglass). They recommended this one (VHB 4950) along with 3M Tape Primer 94. The primer is a lot more expensive than the tape but since I didn't want my panels flying off at 60 mph, it was a worthwhile expense. Simple to install (clean with alcohol, apply primer, apply tape, apply force while it cures) and it sticks with a vengeance. It definitely doesn't allow for do-overs so make sure you get it right the first time. The 1" is the correct width to use with standard z-brackets for a solar install. As a final extra measure, I applied Eternabond tape on top of the bracket to prevent water, ice, dust and dirt from working their way under and as extra support. I can honestly say that the roof of the RV will probably come off before the panels do.

Works if you follow the instructions
I use this mainly to replace the original foam tape used on the magnetic switches of my security sensors. The original tape tends to fall from the glass windows, especially when the weather is freezing. Having worked at 3M at one point in time, I'm familiar in the use of this tape. After peeling the protective layer off and applying to the device, you must apply a firm pressure to the piece for at least 30 seconds.

A single application has held solar panels on my van for 9 years
I was skeptical when I first heard this adhesive tape was heavy duty enough to hold rooftop solar panels on my van under wind load at highway speed, but 9 years later they are still in place.

Next level adhesive
I scoured the internet for the most reliable double sided tape & VHB was atop all lists & I know why now.

Permanent
When you use it it is permanent. I have bought over six roll and when you use it it should be a permanent job. It can be removed along with paint, the top layer of plywood, etc. The “not sticky” reviews are probably errors in ordering as the non-permanent 3M tape looks almost identical.

This Stuff is No Joke
I purchased this to stick a solar panel to the roof of my camper van. I was not convinced that it would hold, so I also purchased a permanent tape to place over the edges of the panel. The tape was unnecessary; this VHB tape stick quickly and as far as I can tell, permanently. Make sure you get things lined up because once it sticks, it's stuck! I've put 3,000 miles on my van since putting the panel on the roof and it hasn't budged an inch.
