The 440 is just as light as the 340, but does have the pinpoint mode to find targets easier. One button and saves time and more treasures found. #2 it is light and fully adjustable for kids. The shaft and lower rod can really be made smaller for kids. #3. The 440 comes with the weather cover and arm cuff which help keeps the detector from getting beat up when kids use it. #4. it's a very durable machine and easy to use. It's pretty much turn-on-and-go, which is perfect for kids.

Hello, i received my package today and i was checking it out, as it is a gift.there was a loose plastic screw. should that be attached to something?

That screw is important. It secures the coil to the lower shaft.
