you can call them whatever you want. But, they are small bowls used for children's food or for that matter for adults' custard, icecream, etc. I would not call tehm domed cake plate. By the way, they strong glass and not easy to break.. I hope this of some help to you. I use them daily.o

What is the max temp for oven usage?

I have used them at 450 degrees without difficulty. Don't know if that's the maximum temp.
