Off to a Good Start
I read many of the reviews on this Lasko 42-inch Wind Curve Fan on Amazon; the reviews by verified purchasers. So, I had a good idea of the pros and cons based on other users experiences before purchasing. I purchased this fan to replace an early model Hitachi tower fan that we used in our bedroom at our ranch house, which is in the Rocky Mountain west. We used the fan year around to circulate air. Our Hitachi fan was probably 20 years old and was making retirement sounds the past year or so. Although it still worked ok it was becoming a little noisy. I was not able to find a new Hitachi-brand tower fan, so I guess they no longer make fans for the USA market? We also have a few Vornado-brand fans and have had good experiences with them. But, I decided to try the Lasko tower fan based on the features it has. It is much taller than my old Hitachi fan, which is a key feature I like. It is also much more quiet at any speed than the Hitachi (even when new). The Lasko fan came well packaged. It was easy to install the base; no problems with instructions or screws provided. The slim-line style of the fan and the dark color tones allow it to blend into our bedroom décor. It is pleasing to the eye, and is generally not noticeable. Our bedroom is about 300 square feet, so is not a large space, and as such we use the Lasko fan on the lowest speed at night when we sleep. The "on" light is quite dim and is a white light. The "ion" light is brighter and is a blue light. I generally run the fan with the "ion" feature active and find that neither light is (nor both together are) bright enough to bother me (or my wife). My wife prefers the fan running with the "ion" feature on. She says she sleeps better with it ionizing. We both like the handy dandy remote control that comes with the fan. We leave it on the night stand next to the bed and can use it to turn the fan on/off and control the other features from our bed. Typically, we forget to turn the fan on until we are in bed - and the old Hitachi fan did not have a remote. Our thanks to the Lasko folks for providing this creature comfort with the Model 2554 42-inch Wind Curve tower fan! We have had the new Lasko fan going steady every night, and often during the day also, for about 2 months with absolutely no issues or problems. Hopefully, it will be reliable for the longer term ahead. For the price, the features, and the style, I am very please with this purchase to date, and so is my wife. This is a cost-effective fan. It was significantly less expensive than our Hitachi fan, so even if it lasts half as long, it will be very cost-effective. We are off to a good start! Stay Tuned!

Just What I Was Looking For
Our old bedroom hundred+ dollar tower fan with remote, ions, and oscillation died last winter, so we looked all over town for a replacement. Nothing was available that came close to our failed fan in looks or functionality, so I checked the web as well with little success. Then I received a suggestion from Amazon for this Lasko model, which looked great, had all the same functionality, and was on sale for $48. I read the indifferent reviews with the usual "it's great" and "it's terrible" ratings with some trepidation, but summer was fast approaching, and the price was definitely right, so decided to give it a chance. So far, it's definitely been a winner. The faux wood plastic trim fits in well with our bedroom furniture, the remote is perfectly sized for the nightstand (about 10 feet to the fan), it's quiet, and everything works as advertised. I have to say I've been very pleased with the purchase so far, and heartily recommend it. Over the two days I thought it over, the sale price jumped all over the place, so I was very happy to get it at the $48 price. Concerning the poor review that said the remote had no range, I have to disagree, but the fan's remote sensor is on the front of the fan, so it must be pointed toward you. The item arrived UPS in its unrepacked retail packaging and was expectedly scuffed, but the interior was undamaged and the fan has continued to work fine over the initial three weeks it's been in use. The 7 1/2 hour shutoff timer is a bit tedious, requiring you to press the timer button multiple times until the four lights reflecting the 1/2, 1, 2, and 4 hour time periods add up to your selection, and beeps with each button press, so plan to set it while your partner is awake, or you'll regret it. The ions option lights up, but unlike my Sharper Image silent air purifier and ionizer, produces no distinctive ozone odor, so I can't say how effective it is. To be fair, my last fan's ions function didn't produce any odor either. I couldn't be happier with the fan so far. It's well worth a try.

Dependable , strong, cool blowing fan.
I purchased this fan on July of 2018. I leave it running 24/7 and rarely have I turned it off. So it's been running pretty consistently since I've had it. It still runs great. Though the oscillating feature works, I haven't used it much. I have noticed that the flow of air that is pushed from the fan, has come less powerful. However, I bought a can of compressed air, took this bad boy outside and blew into the guard, with and without the fan on. This thing had like a pound of dust inside. All built up blocking the air from freely flowing. That's expected since I leave it all 24/7. So I'm not complaining. I ckeaned it out, and two years later this fan blows very a very strong cool breeze. I have 0 complaints, for a fan, it's great. Never have I had one issue. Keep in mind I said I rub it 24/7 all day and night wether I'm home or out, this thing is running. If you want a good size tower fan, ( think it stands 4 feet) that is reliable and strong . This is the fan for you. It blows cool strong air, is not too loud, I mean the little 13 inch fan is louder than this one. Highly recommend.

Don't expect a lot of wind, but it is a safe option.
We have only had this fan now for about a week. I will come back and update my review as time passes, but I wanted to get some info out there. I have a toddler and an infant. Why I was not looking for a fan with blades: Fans with blades can be a danger, but so can the heat, so I decided on a tower style fan for our rather small apartment. Standing fans we have had in the past were easily tipped and the front metal plate or sometimes plastic was quick to pop off as it hit the floor blade still going strong. Very scary when your child is just 2 and has tipped the fan. My experience so far: *auto shut off The first day I was quite worried as the fan had tipped (my husband the larger child in the home was playing with it) and it would not turn back on. I became very worried. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Sure enough this fan has a safety so that if it is tipped it will turn off. *durability So far the baby has tackled it with his 26lb body and it has held up. It is just tall enough that my toddler can't yet push the buttons. *noise I didn't really care if the fan was quiet or not, but it was an added bonus that it is very quiet compared to our Lasko box fan. If you aren't looking at the fan you would never know that it is rotating. Also make sure you get the screws in the right place. The diagram is poorly labeled. That may be the problem with some of the fans people are having noise with. There are more holes than there are screws and the diagram suggests that they go into holes that they really don't belong in. I will include a picture of the base so you can see. *cooling factor I was disappointed with the amount of air that it moved, and had I reviewed it on day 1 I would have only given it a 3 stars for that, but I have come to realize that while the air it moves isn't much, the air always blows out cool. I find that on hot humid summer days some fans are just blowing around the hot air. I was surprised to find that this fan seems to always have cool air. No idea how but it does. It also does a much better job cooling a room if you always have it on rotate. If not the air just kind of stagnates. *packaging I was very worried when it arrived as it was in the thin box the fan comes in rather than amazon packaging. It already had holes in it. I will be reviewing in my order the packaging as well and I suggest others do the same so they start packing it better. *ion thing Tried it doesn't seem to change anything other than a blue light comes on. I have no idea what it actually does. Again bought this fan for safety reasons. *overall I am pleased and hope to buy another when funds allow. Update: It has been about a month now and while my toddler has tackled this fan with his full body weight it is still fully functioning. It has only actually crashed once of the many times hitting wood laminate floors. Now that the weather is warmer it is still blowing cooler air than any other fan in our home. Update: One year later; it is still running great and quietly. The toddler has finally stopped tackling it, but it has survived several falls over the year. Update: It is now June 2014 and we own two of these fans and both are going strong despite a toddler and autistic 6 year old who can now reach the buttons. They also survived a trip in a moving truck to our new home. We have more of an open floor plan now, so two doesn't really cut it for the kitchen/dining room/living room space. The air kind of gets lost, so what I do to help them better cool a room is put them on opposite corners and face them at each other. I plan to buy one more so I can have one in every room in the open space. It also doesn't help that our new home has very old crank windows that only open at an angle and only so far. Update 2018: nothing new to report. They all still work as before.

I live in Miami FL and I'm always hot. This fan solves that problem
This thing is pretty tall I must say. I got the grey/black model and it looks pretty cool. Fits in nice with most of the other tech in my room. Anyway I am always hot. Always....and I live in Miami FL where we don't have winter and 80 degrees with high humidity feels close to 100. This fan can blow. The last 3 fans I have used I have on max settings all day and never reduce. This fan however can get someone like me so cold that I have to go down to 2 or 1 (there are only 3 levels). Everything works as it should. The remote is great and there is a nice spot to keep it on the back of the tower. Sleep mode works perfect. On level 3 and next to me at night I get nice and cold (I'm the kind of guy who wears shorts and a shirt out in 70 degree weather. Not a joke. It takes the temp to fall to at least below 67 for me to put on a sweater. I walked to the grocery store which is a mile away in shorts, a t-shirt, and a normal sweater in 64 degree weather) and it feels great. I can barely sleep warm let alone hot. With this fan I feel I'll never be hot again. The only thing I'm unsure if is the ion air thing. I've heard it doesn't work or doesn't work on something like this fan since it's too small to affect the room. Ill turn it on anyway but even if it does nothing it's not why I bought the item. Remember you get what you pay for. I can get a fan that looks like this for at least $30 less (and I have) and that fan doesn't compare to this one. This fan was worth it. On the noise level it is pretty noisy. I gave it five stars in my review because I actually like the noise I use it as white noise to fall asleep to and I cannot fall asleep without the sound of a fan. Compared to other fans I have used this one is much quieter but I cannot attest to if it sounds louder or not compared to other ones. The difference in sound from level 1 to level 3 is significant so that could be good for some people. I have it on level 3 most of the time and occasionally 2. Level 3 does seem like it would be loud for most people. Not for me and especially not at bedtime.

A powerful but quiet fan. Taller and bigger than you may think.
This is a surprisingly powerful fan. Even its lowest speed moves quite a bit of air. That said, it is *much* quieter than other fansI have used to move nearly comparable amounts of air. This guy is bigger than you might expect. I attach a couple of photos to show its size in the context of the furniture around it. I also attach photos of the control panel on top of the unit and the directional adjustment that lets you aim some of the air up or down. That adjustment only aims the output of the top fan of the three in the unit, however. I also attach a photo of the remote control, which is easy to use. The key is that the fan needs to be facing you (as opposed to oscillated away from you) in order for it to recognize the remote. In the world of remotes, this is called "line of sight" control. If the air is blowing your way, the remote works like a charm. If it is blowing away from you, you either need to contort to find line of sight, or get up and use the control panel on the fan itself. On high, this unit moves a lot of air. I am using it in a 9x10 office, so I cannot speak to how far such air reaches. That said, on high I found myself chilled, even in a almost 80 degree office, and had to turn the fan down. Even on high, this fan is pretty quiet. Some other reviewers have criticized this unit for being shaky on its base. The base seems adequate and the "shakiness" is because the fan needs to be able to oscillate. In use, the unit is stable and solid. Other reviewers have talked about finding the unit hard to assemble or screws being hard to find among the packing materials. Neither was true for me. Screws were is a separate bag and easy to find. Assembly was easy, although you need to figure out which way the base should face. I put mine on backwards at first (had a 50-50 chance of getting it right, so naturally got it wrong). Once I saw the fan oscillate, I knew I had the base on backwards, and it took less than 2 minutes to remove, reorient and reinstall the base. To help you avoid this mistake, I attach a photo of the base that shows that the broader curved side goes to the front. The instructions are pictorial, so they are minimal and not necessarily that helpful. Assembly is so straightforward, however, that the only issue is getting the base on in the right direction (which you now know how to do). Some reviewers talked about the packaging being inadequate and the unit arriving damaged. My unit's box did have a small dent in it when UPS brought it in the door, but the packaging was robust and secure, so the unit itself was well protected. If, however, the delivery service chooses to throw your box around like the Samsonite luggage gorilla in the TV ad of old, it will likely sustain damage. That said, that is not a product fault; it is a delivery fault, and Amazon has muscle to take carry of its customers when such shipping damage occurs. Disclaimer: I have only had this in my office a few weeks, so I cannot yet speak to its longevity. I will try to update this review later to confirm that for readers.

LASKO FAN LOVER! - ION FEATURE
Just got this fan, plugged it in and am very pleased with it. I do need to point something out because I read a few reviews concerning the remote ION feature. Guys!! If you look at the pics of all three remote models, you will see that ONLY the *Contemporary/retro fan* has the ION feature, NON of the other two models has it. So, for the critics that only gave this fan a 1 or 2 star and marked *remote not as advertised*, check again. In all fairness to LASKO - YOU got exactly what you ordered, so be more diligent in your search and LOOK CAREFULLY before you buy! Thanks LASKO.

Not worth
Waste product. Not working even used travel adaptor for 120 V as US plug. Kindly while marketing in amazon site mention that it requires 120V as in UAE we use 240V. I get to know when it aas delivered and opened from box

Semble parfait !

Lasko Fan
This is the iPhone of fans, handsome looking and worth the money spent. It is very quiet, and the air flow is smooth and strong. One of my buying criteria was getting one with least number of LED lights, none if possible, as they are irritating to me in the night, and not good for the eyes either. This fan still has some LED lights but are small in size and not too bright. Its only been a few months, but over the short term so far, it has been an excellent buy (so far).
