Eric Carle's Dream Snow Pop-Up Advent Calendar (Eric Carle, ERIC) Calendar – Advent Calendar, July 30, 2008

Bought this advent calendar for my 3 year old.I was looking for a fun advent calendar that didn't have chocolate or any other toy. This was a nice compromise, every day there was an ornament or present to hang on the tree or put in a box. This product came wrapped in a thin plastic covering. When my daughter saw it, she thought it was a book at first. The presentation was nice enough to send out as a gift to other family members. The calendar folds out nicely when you first open it and there is no need to assemble anything.At first it was difficult for my daughter to open each of the boxes and hang the ornaments on the tree, but about half way though the month she got used to it. She was excited each morning to open the next days' box and regularly wanted to open more than one.I would recommend this advent calendar for families with children from 3+. It was the best one I could find without candy or toys for a reasonable price.

I bought five of these and gifted them to neighbor children and one to my granddaughter. They were a solid hit! It gave kids something to do once they had opened the little door, decorate the tree or add a gift to the presents under the tree. Everyone who got them told me how wonderful they were and we enjoyed ours as well.

We bought this because it was much cheaper than the more elaborate ones out there. My family has always been a fan of Eric Carle's artwork and stories. This is a really neat popup tree and you place a decoration each day on the tree. My daughter is 4 years old, and she loves to grab someone from the family to put the daily ornament on the tree.It's a simple concept, and it's done well. It makes the Christmas season special when you get to see the joy on children's faces when they open that day's new door.It probably won't last another year, and will be a throw-away after Christmas. You can't really close the doors once they're pried open, and the ornaments are punched out, so they don't really go back after you've taken them out. Even still, it's a nice addition near the tree.

This is a beautiful advent calendar. If you are looking for something different and not full of cheap candy then this is for you. My kid loved waking up every morning and finding a new little ornament to decorate his tree. we love Eric Carle books in our house so this was a great fit. It opens up and has a really cool tree with 25 sealed tabs that you open once a day until Christmas. There are also a few little present boxes attached which we used to leave little surprises in. We didn't have a lot of room to display it so it was nice that it easily folds up if you need to store it away.

I got this advent calendar for my little boy. I've always loved the books of Eric Carle, particularly the illustrations, and thought this one might be fun. I also got him a chocolate calendar because we all need those and this isn't that. But this is still probably the coolest advent calendar on the mass market that I've seen. It's a pop up that you open, and in it is a tree surrounded by little boxes. Each day you open a window on the calendar, and inside is either an ornament to hang on the tree or a little gift for your boxes. By the end of the calendar, you have a fully decorated tree and a bunch of little presents underneath. I really liked this one, and am considering getting it again for him next year.

Wonderful delivery of this great Advent Treat

I get this every year. My son is 4.5 so I can get away with doing it every year, but I love that it's not candy. My son is still super excited every morning to put an ornament on his tree. I think it's a very creative and organic calender. I love that he enjoys the simple thing and does not expect anything more. I will keep ordering this every year for as long as I can. I hope it becomes a tradition.One note. When it unfolds its not sturdy to stay unfolded. I tape it down to a counter. If it's moved to much the ornaments fall off and it will not naturaly lay flat. We have a great spot for it and we just tape it down.

Cute christmas book.I know this is a classic but I hadn’t read it before purchasing, so this review is for people purchasing like me.This is not a book about Santa nor does it have anything Santa related, if you are lookinh for a Santa book this is not it.The story however is super cute for toddlers. This author never disappoints. My son now knows it by heart and loves “reading “ it to us .We purchased it with the advent calendar and it has added a lot to out Christmas season. Looking forward to reading int next tear as well and start a tradition

A lovely little advent calendar - we used it in addition to the regular old chocolate one and our daughter loved it. Great for improving her number recognition and she loved hanging the little decorations up herself. Is quite sad that we don't continue the tradition on through the rest of the year though. I haven't given it 5 stars as not sure if I have all the little pieces so fear it is a use once only thing which is a pity as it's really well made. Will have to count through all the decorations, maybe we can sort something!

It is some time since I last bought this advent calendar. I bought it for my grandchildren & they might have wanted chocolate but they did appreciate it once it was erected. A large space is needed to display it but it makes a lovely Christmas decoration each year when brought out again. We have some more young children in our family now, my nieces children so will purchase this for hers.

THis is an adorable advent calendar. It is large so you need a table or sideboard to rest it on, but it is so cute the way you open up the doors and then hang decorations on the tree. We've had it a few years and this year (christmas 2012) my 3 year old loved doing it for herself.It makes an nice decoration in itself and as a bonus also has a window for day 25 - the star for the top of the tree.I'd prefer it if it didn't feature Father Christmas, but you can't have everything and it is a very lovely product.

A lovely advent calendar that made a nice change from the usual chocolate options. It was great for learning to count as the numbers are in order and my daughter was keen to count each day to find which number she was opening next. The only problem is transporting - as we travelled to visit relatives just before christmas it was a bit of a pain to transport without loosing any bits. If you dont need to move it this is a great calendar.

I still send my children an advent calendar every year, and try to make it a little different from the usual ones, and strictly no chocolate. My son (22) loved this calendar - he said it was the best one he'd ever had. It does need a bit of space, as it needs to be laid out flat and is about 18" long by 15" wide( a guess - I didn't measure it). The tree then stands up and you get to hang the little gift-shaped cards on the branches.
