What is the order of firmness of the colors? What is the most firm and what is the softest?

Tan is the softest then yellow, red, green, blue and black

How much of a handful is the 4oz option? My hands are average size. I don't want to get too little and not have enough to exercise my hands with.

It's enough, I'm a bigger dude with larger hands, and I work 4 oz. in my hand, and it's plenty. Get a ruler.... Then think of a 2 1/2" diameter by 1" thick puck... Thats about the size of it. This is an excellent product by the way! Highly recommend.
