BUYER BEWARE!
In March of 2013, I purchased a LIVESTRONG LS16.9T treadmill from a local party who no longer needed the machine. The unit was in excellent condition, having been used as a walking device for someone of advanced age. Since acquiring the treadmill, my brother and I used the machine without any issues, until 1/25/14, when as I was walking at 3.2 mph at an incline of 10% (my regular workout routine that I had performed on this same treadmill countless times), and about 30 mins into my workout, the treadmill instantaneously accelerated and I was thrown onto my head and left shoulder with tremendous force. I temporarily lost feeling in my right side, which thankfully subsided, as well as suffered a concussion and whiplash, the former resulting in persistent lightheadedness, and the latter producing discomfort and stiffness in the right side of my neck that just recently subsided. This, as you can probably imagine, was not only completely unexpected, but horrifying to me. I have used a treadmill as my cardio workout of choice for 14 years, and never in my wildest dreams expected anything like this was even a possibility. The treadmill literally accelerated to what must have been maximum speed without any warning whatsoever, and before I realized what had happened I was bashed into the treadmill belt head-first with such force that I am honestly surprised I didn't break my neck and/or lose consciousness.I suffered a concussion, whiplash that resulted in persistent neck discomfort on the right side, and several brush burns. Three days after I visited the Urgent Care Center, I began to experience lightheadedness when changing position, and immediately went to the ER, where I was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome.I then contacted LIVESTRONG, telling them my story and kindly requesting restitution in the amount of my medical bills and the cost of the replacement walking treadmill I purchased with a limit 4 mph motor (as I can never bring myself to use a treadmill with a potential to accelerate past 4 mph again after this devastating malfunction). They asked me for all supporting documentation, which I promptly emailed to them (9 pages worth, all labeled and organized). The total reimbursement requested was $1,483.30, which was comprised of medical bills related to the accident (CAT scan, ER visit, etc) and the replacement walking treadmill. Then, shortly thereafter, Johnson Health Tech, the parent company of LIVESTRONG, denies my request for reimbursement, which shocked me. I have been a bodybuilder since 1989, owned my own fitness company since 1997, and there was zero (NO) operation error that caused the treadmill to suddenly accelerate 30 mins into a workout, as my fitness experience level and 10 months using the LIVESTRONG machine in question with no issues should attest to, yet an accident that could have been fatal is brushed off by Johnson Health Tech in what I consider to be a legalistic and heartless way.Buyer beware, please, in relation to products produced by Johnson Health Tech or any of its subsidiaries (LIVESTRONG, Matrix, Vision Fitness, Horizon Fitness, AFG, Merit Fitness, and Tempo Fitness), because my accident was NOT a result of user error, and I implore anybody who is considering one of Johnson Health Tech’s products to make an informed decision before purchasing, as my story is real, caused me many sleepless nights due to the concussion, and Johnson Health Tech responded to my serious accident by brushing my aside in one short paragraph.By the way, the lady who contacted me on behalf of Johnson Health Tech asked that I provide her with any more info that could change Johnson Health Tech’s mind after they rejected my request, and once I did, nobody ever replied. Then, because they knew I was not satisfied with their decision, on March 26th Johnson Health Tech sent me a survey from their President Nathan Pyles, which I filled out, and once again, never heard a word from anybody.Buyer beware!

Extremely poor interface and programs
Decent quality construction, but terrible interface; heart rate program simply does not work as indicated. I contacted customer service at Livestrong and they agreed it doesn't work, even on their in house model. When I asked for a solution, I have been ignored. Basically you cannot set the treadmill to maintain a target heart rate range, all it will do is increase the incline to full 15% which then CANNOT be lowered either automatically or manually - ridiculous. If you increase speed at that incline you will quickly reach your THR and the mill simply shuts down. For a decent machine, this is the poorest user interface I have ever seen; the potential is great but whoever was hired to program it must be completely incompetent. Ruins the treadmill - all the built in programs are weak - hills are just monotonous with no variation from a basic cycle up down up down without any variety. Without the THR feature the polar monitor is basically useless. Strongly recommend against purchasing this product; I had a Nordictrack which this replaced, and I am sorry I replaced it with this inferior brand at this price point; could have got consumer reports top rated Nordictrack mill for the same price. More fool me.

Worked great at first!
We purchased this treadmill in October it's been 21/2 months and it won't start. The first time we thought it was over heating, but now it will not start up at all.

Tough and durable
I bought this treadmill to replace a Nordictrack 1900 model, I got a great price on it. It is very strong and takes a pounding, it has all the bells and whistles, which I really don't care about. The one and only problem I have with it is that the letters on the monitor are too small for me to see unless I have me glasses on which I don't care to wear while running. The monitor and area is huge but is really a waste of space. The speaker volume could be a bit louder as well.

Gym Quality
I've had this Livestrong treadmill for over 2 years & all I can say is that this is a great product! It's super high end, heavy, & requires 2 people to get it set up just right. Not terribly difficult to assemble but make sure you open the package with the correct end facing upwards, otherwise it can become a finger crushing machine. As for its performance, I run intervals at the gym do I wanted something that had inclines and speed settings that could be changed several degrees with the push of a button, similar to Life Fitness treadmills at the gym. This treadmill fits the bill, has a large surface area, folds up, & has good shock absorption. Plus I got a huge discount because of the LiveStrong brand.

Very Poor Interface
Most treadmills are simple enough to use. You simply press "5" and it goes at 5mph until you tell it to stop. This treadmill is more complicated. My first experience using it, I pressed 5 and nothing happened. I pressed "Manual" to manually set up my workout routine, then selected 5, then selected go. It then gives some silly 3-second countdown as if I wasn't already ready for it to begin. After 15 minutes of running while watching Dr. Who, I started fumbling over myself and I realize the thing is slowing down and going into cool-down mode. Apparently there's no such thing as unlimited time. So now I realize I have to select some dumb time along with my speed before selecting GO. It takes about 10 seconds of setup if you know what you're doing just to get it started. Simple treadmills take 0 seconds to start. So after running for a couple minutes, I had to run upstairs to grab something so I hit "stop" and found that I have to go through the setup all over again. There is no "pause" feature when pressing stop. Absolutely ridiculous. I later found there is a small pause button on the top right corner of the screen, but it was clearly not very intuitive. I hope at least the mechanical parts are worth the price-tag because the display and interface certainly aren't!
