"A great resource for understanding gross motor milestones and learning functional, easy, and adaptable play-based activities for kiddos!" Our pediatric exercise handbook was written by two physical therapists and created with parents, newer clinicians, student physical therapists, and those who work with the early intervention community in mind. It is intended to provide basic content for learning about gross motor development, milestones, and interventions in an uncomplicated manner that is simple to digest and easy to adapt. This manual discusses gross motor milestones and fun, creative ways to reach them while working with clients, in the mission field, and with your own children. Safety considerations, modifications, and progressions are listed for all of the activities found within, as is a list of the equipment and ways to recreate those items in any country or at home. This book was originally created as a resource for an international pediatric physical therapy mission trip and has grown into an everyday resource for families and those working with children. Our mission organization, East of Eden Physical Therapy, was founded in 2016 as a grassroots initiative to teach simple and effective pediatric physical therapy interventions, encourage global awareness, and provide education and care to those in need. All proceeds directly go towards funding our next mission trip and sustaining the work we began in 2016. Review: Solid resource for those new to pediatric therapy! - This is a nicely written resource for a new clinician, parent, or someone studying pediatric PT and/or early intervention. As a more experienced clinician, I have used this as an educational tool to provide parents and students with a "why" behind exercises and some nice, safe ways to simplify and advance interventions with clear pictures. It's a good springboard for discussion, creativity, session planning, and intentional play at home for parents, especially with everyone at home now! As someone who has done physical therapy mission work and lamented the lack of specific resources, I can definitely see how it would be a great, affordable resource on a mission trip to leave behind with caregivers. Nice job! Review: For therapists and parents <3 - As a pediatric occupational therapist, I love this book! I love the format! It gives easy tools, simple activities as well and the “why” behind those recommendations. This books is a winner for therapists and parents. I recently made the switch from school based therapy to the early intervention setting. Having ideas of affordable and portable tools for therapy that are also accessible to families is amazing. This book is so easy to get out and share the images and ideas with parents right there in the moment of a therapy session. It’s light weight and the perfect size to keep in the work bag. LOVE IT!!!

Excellent Resource
I spend one day each week caring for my 15 month old grandson, who is currently receiving physical snd occupational therapy for low muscle tone. I am interested in doing my part to reinforce the skills he is working on in his therapy sessions. This book explains how to safely and effectively work on gross motor skills, balance, and core strength using creative exercises. Photos are included, which I find quite helpful.

Use under direction/supervision of a pediatric physical therapist.
The printing in the book I received was faint and difficult to see, especially the photos. The authors have worthy intentions but this book is better for caregivers who are currently working with a PT who is actively treating their child. The exercises would be helpful for a "typically-developing" child who needs more activity in their lives (couch potato or digitally-engrossed) but the activities would need direct training by a PT if the child had low muscle tone or other neuromuscular differences. The information about motor milestones is brief. I purchased this book for new parents of a healthy child but ended up holding it back and giving another book instead. Sorry, to be more critical but I recommend that the authors revise the book and consider asking some "test subject" parents to try doing the activities straight from the book without additional coaching so the authors can see what needs to be added/revised to the content.

Content disappointment!
I wished it was more substantive content, not a lot to offer!

Is it worth it?
This book is not worth it. A very limited amount of exercises are covered, which most are done on an exercise ball. The exercise appear to be for a certain age range, when in reality it would have been better to include earlier ages as most physical therapy needs will start in earlier ages. The books photos are completely in black and white, the step by step photos should have been better overall. The text should be used to Support the photos. I also thought the book would go into more detail about anatomy and muscles worked. A drawing would have been nice, too get a visual of muscle groups and how they relate to the exercises.overall this book will have a very short shelf life. Extremely disappointed a much needed book on the subject, it comes highly rated but is not truly useful. If you are looking for some useful content check out Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises on youtube.

Interesting, but expensive for what it is
Interesting book with pictures, but not much in depth information for professionals
