This crime fiction novel belongs to an American author Sidney Sheldon whose work is constantly considered as one of the top ten best selling fiction stories of all time. It is indeed an irresistible supreme piece for readers. The ways he has portrayed the power of femininity, makes one wonder that even today's female authors are lacking to showcase it. This is the story of Tracy Whitney a spectacular, smart, intelligent, computer genius in her mid twenties working with a bank. By the twist of fate she is being framed by a group of people to imprisonment of 15 years for the crime she has not committed. Because of her upper class etiquettes and her favoring fortune she manages to come through her punishment quite early. She comes out with the motive to avenge those people who have destroyed her life. On the way to revenge and her need of well being, she gets involved into deadly con games and becomes unbeatable by the police and detectives. Jeff Steven is a handsome persuasive man matching Tracy's theatrics and a super con who can only stop her. Daniel Cooper is an insurance investigator, a detective; an evil genius who is desperate to get Tracy red handed and led her to destruction. The book constantly keeps one on their toes. Each incidence and theft is going in rhythm and gives a sense of mindfulness. It is written in 1985 and is way ahead of its time. I feel the story is still relevant in today’s Zen. Fast pace narration what makes intriguing. My only concern is with non English words and sentences where I feel as hiccups with the pace.

Very nice book

If there is one thing where Sidney Sheldon stands out from the rest of the thriller authors, then that is the awesome blend of a strong plot and equally strong writing. Sidney takes you around the world with ease that you would think of it all as so natural. The plot is dramatic and you can relate so much with the characters. Tracy's character has been developed so strongly and sharply that it becomes the foundation of the book. Even though I finished the book sometime back, I remember all the characters distinctly and in detail. The twists are rocking and keep you so hooked to the novel. Who could have thought that Tracy's life will turnaround like that. I mean it was just such remote possibility and it took some time to grasp as to what had happened. Her character has been shown to gain strength throughout the book, starting at someone gullible to someone fierce. That is the beauty of Sidney's writing. A super page turner and superbly written.

Really liked this book

If you were an avid reader once, that enjoyed literature, poetry and books that impacted your outlook and insight with their literary profoundness.. and later stopped reading for whatever reasons, and now want to revive your reading skills and hence are deliberating if you should pick this book - then do not. This book is shallow in terms of literature or suspense. You can easily sail through the first half of the book where the protagonist deals with the turmoils of her life (PS: there are s***load of loopholes there also) and bamn! the latter second part becomes an utter bore, with just the ramblings of an women and how she and all the main characters continuously succeed at all they plot while the world around them watches in dismay. This book is hardly a good read, I picked it only because am unfamiliar with Sidney's works and this was listed as his best book on Goodreads, Now I only dread about his other works.

It started off well, got a little boring midway but again picked up pace towards the end. I absolutely loved the ending. I picked up this book because of the good reviews and I was in a mood to read some suspense novel. It has no suspense but it’s still a page turner. Felt like the Dhoom series was loosely inspired by this book. It’s a fast moving story. Must read if you are a Sidney Sheldon fan.

This is a very suspenseful thrilling novel to read. In this book, every Incident leaves you in amazement and disbelief. The protagonist, Tracy Whitney, as the author describes is a gorgeous woman with an absolute genius mind. The story, in the beginning, is set in Philadelphia and New Orleans and it goes on to London, Paris, and Madrid Every incident in this story will leave you thrilled.

I read and loved all of Sidney Sheldon’s books back in the 80s when they were first published so was delighted to rediscover them on my Kindle. You have to bear in mind his books were written 30 or so years ago, long before the Internet, mobile phones and sophisticated technology were part of everyday life, so younger readers may not appreciate his books. Our main character, the very likeable and honest Tracy, finds herself framed for a crime she did not commit and in her quest to seek revenge on those that set her up unwittingly ends up becoming one of the greatest con artists ever - but only ever doing over the rich and greedy! OK, so it’s not exactly fine literature or indeed very realistic (especially by today’s standards), but the scams are pure genius, there are so many twists and turns along the way and you’ll find it hard to put the book down. It’s pure fun and escapism. You have to wonder where Sheldon conjured up such a wide criminal mind from and there is no denying Sheldon was certainly an exceptionally brilliant storyteller with a vivid imagination! The book closes with an opportunity for a sequel. Unfortunately, Sheldon was not able to write this in his lifetime but young writer, Tilly Bagshaw, has undertaken this posthumously, writing under the name of Sidney Sheldon. I’ve not yet read the sequel – or any of her other books – and will be interested to see if she is able carry on the great master’s style of writing.

Love love this book. My favourite one written by Sidney Sheldon. Second time reading it but enjoying it just as much as the first.

Para mim o melhor livro desse grande contator de estórias. Do começo ao fim um livro cheio do que ele, melhor que ninguém, sabe como contar: estórias empolgantes de personagens ricos e interessantes. Numa reviravolta ela deixa de ser aquela menina inocente para se tonar a mais espertas das trapaceiras. Super recomendo.

As a big fan of Sidney Sheldon I am bias, but this is a great book. "Master of the Game" is my favorite for sure but this takes second in a heartbeat. If you're interested in crime / mystery/ romance novels this is definitely a great pick. Also, if you enjoy Orange is the New Black, I was reminded of it when reading this book.
