VIVOSUN Digital Heat Mat Thermostat Controller, 40–108 ºF 1000W for Reptiles, Seedlings, Germination, Incubation and Fermentation

Received mine two days ago and promptly hooked it up only to discover that the LCD readout only functioned partially. As it stands I am unable to see the actual temperature readings or know for sure if I have set the correct temp on the unit as only parts of the number grids will display but not enough to know exactly what number you are setting. Aside from the bad display, the unit seems very basic to operate and the included instructions were sufficient. Like many others, I must have gotten a bad unit. EDIT 01/01/2017 I was contacted by the seller shortly after posting my original review and they offered to replace the defective unit for me. Upon receiving the replacement unit with expedited shipping, I am happy to say that the display is working perfectly and it appears to be maintaining the temperatures much better too. I'm very satisfied with how things were address and resolved.

Have had quite a few of these for snakes, lizards and fish tanks. They are great quality. Keeps the temperature exactly where I need it, when I need it. They can be a little confusing to set up though, but nothing a good YouTube video can’t help with.

I use for sprouting plants and also to warm compost worm cocoons so they hatch sooner. Can control 2 heat mats at a time if you use a cord with 2 outlets, might possibly control more, but I haven’t tested that yet. I plan to buy 2 more mats to see if it can handle 3-4 mats at a time to save money. Even if it can only handle 2 heat mats it’s worth it. The only down side is that it fluctuates 4-5*F. I’d prefer if it was only 1-2*F. I’m not sure how long this last running 24/7 year round, but so far after a few months it’s working well and my worm cocoons hatch 1-1.5 weeks faster than those not on a heating mat. I use these indoors and our home is heated 69-70*F, heat mats are set to 80*F. If it can last a few years it’ll be worth the investment and if I can handle 3-4 heat mats it’ll be even more so. Also, if you heat mats from another brand this will work with them, no need to buy their brand of mats. I did buy their heat mats since mine only heat 1/2 the length after being in service for over 12 years. The original ones I purchased are no longer available or I would have bought those again because of longevity. Overall a good purchase…so far.

I bought 3 of these Vivosun thermostats. 2 arrived in working condition but the third came right out of the box unable to turn on. First thinking it was my outlet, I tried many throughout the house. The red display wouldn’t even light up so I am not sure with the issue. I am extremely frustrated because I paid an extra $10+ shipping for “next day delivery”. I did receive the item but the item is defective. I needed this thermostat ASAP because my snake needs its heat lamp to be calibrated and its winter. Didn’t pay an extra 30 dollars for something that doesn’t work, not worried about the money, more frustrated at the fact that the product doesn’t even turn on, needless say function. Hoping the other two don’t die on me as well… -UPDATED 1/20/2019: Vivosun reached out to me and offered to send me a new thermostat in order to replace the one that didn't seem to work. Once received, I tested it out and it seems to work fine (Same as the other 2 I have). I appreciate quality products just as much as quality customer service so thankful for the team over at Vivosun. Will do business with them again in the future.

Received the Vivosun heat temp controller and it is a great alternative to the reptile temp controllers costing $10 - $15 more. I use it to keep the heat mat for my Leopard Gecko's at a consistant temp, about 90 degrees. It has a great swing value, about teo degrees, so my Leo's stay nice and toasty. There was an issue with the first one I received. There was an LED that did not light, not a huge deal. It didn't effect the performance but was annoying. I contacted the seller via Amazon and they returned with a resolution within about 24 hours. They mailed out a new controller and I received it within a couple of days. The second controller LEDs worked without issue. I appreciate the excellent customer service. Overall, the lroduct, shipping a sercice were excellent. I would definately advise those with lizards, snacks or any animal that requires specific temps to get this controller. Don't waste the extra money on the lizard.specific temp controllers. They are overrated and usually not as accurate or you have a harder time getting a set temp. The Vivosun, while compared with another thermometer set next ro the probe, is almost.dead on with each other. There may be avery negligable .3 or .5 degree difference between the thermometer and temp controller. When surface testing with a laser thermometer the temps are within a degree or less. I am completely pleased with my purchase. It saved me about $15 from the one I was going to purchase.

Used to regulated the temp of a heat mat in our chick brooder. I tuck the mat into a box on its side to make a little cave and place into a plastic brooder bin. Being able to control the temp in the brooder is important and this does the job very well!

This is the first time I have grown vegetables, especially from seed indoors. I have used the mat for about a month and a half now and it's been working great for my jalapeno and tomato seeds. Where I expected germination to occur in 2-3 weeks for my peppers, I saw results in about a week and a half. The controller for the mat is easy to understand and operate once you read the manual. I like that the thermometer probe comes with a suction cup so you can secure it to any humidity dome you are using. The probe seems to be accurate and reacts to changes in temperature quickly. I grow my seedlings in the basement where it's around 18C, but the mat keeps the soil toasty at 24C all day everyday no problem. I would buy the mat again if I needed to grow more seedlings in the future - for 20-25 dollars I think it is a good price.

Perfect addition for my snake’s terrarium, accurately measured temperatures with the probe and shuts off the mat as intended.

Got this with the 4' long by 20" wide heat mat, they work well together. Hopefully they stand the test of time. They were easy to set up together.

I have a 76-cell seed starting dome and a warming mat to go with it. I'm relatively new to growing from seed but I'm a particular sort of person and figured that consistent temperature was probably important for speeding up sprouting... ...I was right. I notched a little hole for the cable out of the plastic dome and fed the probe through, positioning it into the center of the tray and set it to 75 degrees. Setting it was really simple, so I'm not sure what the other reviews talking about it being impossible to figure out were doing... Press and hold the top button for a few seconds then press up or down to set the preferred temperature; east peasy. My basil, cherry tomato and pepperoncini seeds have been warming with the help of this mat and they're definitely sprouting quicker than before. I'll have to take a look and see if Vivosun makes a multi-outlet, multi-temp model because not every plant's seeds have the same optimum temperature for germination. In short? 5 stars from me. It works exactly as expected.
