Aquascape Faux Log Fish Cave for Pond, Koi Predator Control | 78324

This is so cute and the Koi and goldfish love it! It took them about an hour or so of curiosity before they all went in. Now they are zipping in and out of the side holes too. It was very light and I thought we would have to weigh it down. When it’s placed in the water it fills with water and sinks (like a little ballast tank). We have to buy another one because when our big orange koi goes in the others don’t really fit. The raccoons can not reach their little paws in so the fish are safe. (Above ground pond created in a 300 gallon stock tank with drain from tractor supply)

This sits in the bottom of my koi pond. It looks pretty natural in there and my fish love to hang out under it. It’s bigger than I expected.

This was the perfect size for my cattle water trough. We put gold fish to help with the algae. It fit well in my larger one. It is very good quality.

I started with one, bought a second, and now I'm purchasing my third log for the goldfish in my pond. I have been very happy with these faux logs. After I open the box, I vacuum the styrofoam off the log, then sand the sharp burrs on all of the openings. Is it annoying that something so expensive has to be sanded? Yes. But it doesn't take long and the log looks great in the water. The fish love it, and I can tell when the heron has been around when they are all jammed together under their logs. As my fish keep getting bigger I need more logs for them to hide under!

So after getting visits from a Blur Heron and losing 7 or 8 Koi, from my pond and scaring the remaining fish to hide for over a week. I decided to purchase this log fish cave due to other online reviews, both here and another site. I had had suggestions "oh use netting" or "buy a fake gator head", but decided this log cave was the best option for my pond setup. It arrived today. The positive: It looks good in the pond, should last a while and I've already seen a couple of fish hide in it. It's a good size for my Koi to take cover in, so the heron can learn to hunt elsewhere. The negative: It's expensive ($95 + tax !!!), $60 would have been better, it came sheathed in polystyrene foam , which when removed left foam pieces still on the log cave, which needed a stiff brush to remove these bits. So better packaging for shipping needed, please. Also as another reviewer had noted there were sharp edges in the resin around the openings that should have been smother. So a small file was necessary to remove these burrs. But if it keeps my Koi safe from predators in the future it was a good purchase.

Leiarius marmoratus and Leiarius pictus catfish and all my fish love the caves. I used Krylon Camouflage Paint, Ultra Flat, Brown, 11 oz for any touch ups from wear and tear from hitting with gravel vac in smaller tanks, after consolidating the four caves from smaller tanks into a main 120x48x30 670 gallon, all of the caves have held up well with mangrove drift wood and Java Ferns attached and they have good weight to stay down. With out these monster caves my tank would not be the same! Recommend, just sand any sharp edges and touch up as needed. 5 Stars!

Great product for our Koi pond. The fish really love hiding in there. Also gives the babies a place to feel secure until they’re large enough.
