Animal Man by Grant Morrison 2: 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Hardcover – September 8, 2020

Grant Morrison is one of my favorite writers and this is a prime example of why.He wraps up Animal Man’s run with postmodern storytelling that’s both clever, but also has a lot of emotion and humanity.

If you're binging Grant Morrison stuff this is a must read. It's not him at his peak but he always finds interesting ways to use DC characters who have fallen outside of canon. The art is hit or miss but the writing is on point and the finale is worth it.

First I must state that I LOVE Animal Man and also the works of Grant Morrison. I loved the first volume of this series and was eager to pick up the second volume. The only thing that lowers the score is the paper quality of the pages. For some reason the quality of the pages is dramatically different from the first volume and feels cheap. The first volume used a heavier feeling paper that was glossy and smooth, while the second volume had pages that felt thinner, a little flimsier and weren't as glossy. I don't know why the pages were done this way when the first volume had higher quality and the rest of this volume was high quality (the dust jacket, cover, etc). That would be my only issue with this, the page quality, otherwise it's a great read.

The story as well as Amazon’s shipping speed is 5 stars! However, DC decided to go with a different paper stock than the 1st volume, which is really annoying. At least the spines match!

Este libro concluye la historia de Animal Man escrita por Morrison de una manera espectacular, el primer libro era una historia de superhéroes perfecta que parecía ser insuperable, sin embargo este libro logra sobrepasar las espectativas, con temas más maduros y un final que no se ve en los cómics y te dejará satisfecho, pero más que nada, boquiabierto.

This run lives up to the hype. The only odd thing is DC switching out the paper stock in this Part 2 to the lower quality type which is so confusing. Why do this in a two-part Deluxe edition? It makes no sense! 4/5 for this decision alone; too bad the omni is out of print.

Vol 1 has a nice glossy paper but volume 2 has regular comic book paper so it feels slightly less premium. The paper is still nice and thicc though.

Depois de quase 2 anos desde a publicação do primeiro volume a DC finalmente lança a parte fina do run do Grant Morrisson no Animal Man. Essa edição infelizmente possuí um papel diferente da edição anterior. É um papel fosco e mais fino. É realmente uma pena que a DC trate seus consumidores assim.
