Good useful tin
Good useful tin - nice and slim and so much better than plastic !

Nice empty watercolour palette.
I wasn't expecting it but this actually appears to be made by the authentic Japanese Holbein company, coming in their packaging, or so it appears. The tin is made from aluminium and light, well made with no sharp edges or dents and the lid fits well. It was a little more expensive than some of the other makes of tins, but these had very mixed reviews with lots of dents etc. There are lots of sloped wells to place tube paint and plenty of mixing space. Mine had no thumb hole but I wasn't expecting it. I'm looking forward to using it and may well buy another!

Great to work on but !
I really enjoy using this, especially the mixing surface and the sloping colour wells. It makes it so much easier to pick up the paint on the brush and mix more accurately. The one down side is that the aluminium material is so light, it is easy to tip over the palette. It is still worth having. I wrote to Holbein asking why they no longer manufacture the palette in steel. I received a very polite response that unfortunately, the skill of producing it in steel has been lost. I suspect older more experienced workers retired and the skill was not passed on. Shame!

Lots of paint wells and mixing surface.
Great palette. Arrived quickly too.

Lots of paint mixing area
Exactly what I wanted. Big slanted wells that don’t ruin your brushes and a ton of mixing space that paint doesn’t bead up on. It’s big enough but still portable too. It’s not airtight. I didn’t want that but it’s something to be aware of. I am using it for watercolor and I want the paint to dry, otherwise it can mold. It’s aluminum so that is the only thing I would change so magnets would stick in case I wanted to add an extra half pan. I am using blu tack and that works fine.
