Very nifty

I bought this as a replacement for a Staedtler Avant-garde multipen.The Staedtler is better made (and more expensive) but the Rotring is easier to write with due to it's rubberised grip and, personally, I prefer the 0.7mm pencil over 0.5mm.Instructions are sparse but the pen is easy to use - holding the pen horizontally, rotate it so that the desired function marker (blue dot, red dot or 0.7) faces upwards, and push the end button.Folks being frustrated by the apparent random function selection just need to appreciate that the mechanism works by gravity, if you orientate the pen correctly, it works every time.The other mysterious area is pencil lead replacement - separate the barrel halves by unscrewing either side of the red ring to reveal the ink refills (which just pull out of the black holders) and the pencil mechanism. To open the pencil, grip it either side of the spring and pull the two halves apart, now you can insert new leads into the chamber.It remains to be seen how robust the pen is in the longer term - the rubber grips are showing signs of wear fairly early but otherwise, so far, so good.

The product does what it is meant to.

Nice idea, but the pencil fails time and time again. My third one and each time the pencil has died.

I love these pens

The media could not be loaded.  I've had Rotring multi-pens before, so I knew how they work, but the fact that this comes with no instructions at all can be a challenge for other people who never had one...You need to put the pen on the side, with the colored dot you want to select pointing UP, only then you can press the chrome button down!If you do like that (pen sideways, colored dot facing up), it will always work, and you will get the correct pen/pencil!It works great and I'm quite happy with it, but given the lack of instructions, I'm giving it 4 instead of a 5.

Pens are very gut but I can not say same thing for pencil. Because when you are writing minen leads are easily broken. It is not about quality of leads. 2 pens+pen in a same body. It is broken in body (approx 1 cm lead long) because of curve. It is engineering problem. So pencil is not useful.

Juste une remarque on ne peut insérer qu'une mine à crayon et difficilement.
