Hard to Find Product Made Available
I was looking for this everywhere. It’s also called wintergreen oil. It’s very effective and a quality product.

Best penetrating oil. Mixed with ATF, use it for any rusted or corroded parts.

A Form of Methylsalicylate That Plays Well With Others
I am so happy I found this. I have a "liniment" that I make using dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and Castor bean oil which I apply to my poor, achy arthritic joints. After that, I rub in a Ben Gay knockoff which contains methylsalicylate as its active ingredient. It was a two-step process until this arrived in the mail. The ointment will not dissolve in either carrier (DMSO & CBO), but this formulation does, saving me a few steps. I not only recommend this product, I also recommend checking out my DIY formula yourself.

Rubber restored!
I bought this oil with the aim of bringing back the ability of my pressure canner’s gasket to seal properly… Decades of water, heat and drying had hardened the rubber. After soaking the gasket in a solution with 1:2 ratio (oil:isopropyl) for 12 hours, it is no longer like hard plastic! It worked!

restore neoprene
so mix this with isopropyl and soak rubber parts and it really did work. thin rubber tends to curl and deform. thicker rubber really does restore elasticity and a supple surface.

Only temporarily soften rubber
No complain about this Wintergreen. But it's not the right application for soften rubber. Restoring a 50 years old motorcycle with some old and harden rubber parts that are no longer available to buy as new. Used this wintergreen mixed with alcohol, soak for 2~3 days, got all soft and slightly swollen, it goes back to normal size after taken out and leave it dry for another 2 days. It was all soft and nice and I thought I have saved a bunch of money and time with this stuff. But 2 months later, the rubber parts went back to all hard and brittle again. Wintergreen is not a permanent solution to soften rubber, only good for couple of months.
