Over 1400 miles logged so far in two states and it works GREAT!
I previously tried to use one of the "universal" style bike racks that will fit a passenger car or an SUV and didn't even begin to trust it to drive across town, much less on the long trips I was going on. I bought this in preparation for an out-of-state camping trip to the mountains my girlfriend and I were going on, and it arrived on time as advertised. Assembly was very easy and took maybe 15 minutes total with a few basic hand tools (allen keys, socket set, and wrenches). I have an extra trailer wiring harness and I may see about wiring a brake light up to attach to the flat plate on the end rather than just having a red reflector on it. I've driven over 1400 miles in two weeks with the bike rack on my 4Runner and had zero issues of any kind, with and without bikes on the rack. I'd say my road time was split 80% highway (70-90mph), 15% twisty mountain roads (lots of up and down hill, sharp curves, braking and acceleration), and 5% off-road driving, and the bikes didn't move around in the rack at all. The wheels or handlebars of either bike never contacted my vehicle, either, and during the trip I secured them in every one of the four slots, just to make sure (my bike has 28" wheels and hers has 26" I believe). You may have to remove water bottle attachments though, my Bontrager bottle cage barely fit on the rack (I never use it anyways, so I removed it when we got home, no big deal). The mounts that the bikes sit in are VERY secure and attach to the rack itself with crush washers and lock nuts. The velcro straps that wrap around the bike frame seem to be of good quality and absolutely hold the bikes 100% still. The vertical portion of the rack folds down with the pull of the hinge pin to about a 45 degree angle to allow you to open your rear door/hatch with ease, and mine cleared it with ample room to spare. This was great when it came time to unload the car at our camping destination and for loading it back up to head home again. I only found a few "negatives" during the assembly and use of this bike rack, but none of them were enough of a problem to distract from the rating based on things that actually mattered to me. The first was that some of the nuts that went with the actual bike holders (which attach to the rack itself) were metric and the bolt heads were standard/SAE. This wasn't a big deal, just a bit of an annoyance. The second downside is that the top hinge pin (which allows the part of the rack the bikes sit on to fold down so it doesn't stick out two feet behind your vehicle) will only insert into the vertical part of the rack from the left side when the rack is folded. When the rack is extended out to the rear, it will fit from the right side. Again, just an annoyance, nothing that would affect the usability. The third is there is some play in the fit between the mount and my hitch receiver. When there is no load (bike) on the rack and you move it by hand, it seems very loose. I didn't notice any noise or movement while driving with the rack on my vehicle, whether empty or with bikes loaded. The fourth downside is it seems like the receiver pin that holds the mount into the hitch receiver itself is a smaller size than the one for my regular 2" ball hitch mount. When I assembled it and put the rack into the receiver, the regular pin wouldn't go through. I haven't removed it to compare them yet though, so I could be incorrect and maybe just had a bad angle on it. Overall, I absolutely recommend this rack. I was blown away at the quality of the product for the price (seems like a comparable rack would cost $100-200+ at a bike shop or other online stores) and I've had nothing but good luck with it thus far with quite a bit of drive time over varied terrain. Buy with confidence!

Very nice. Strong.
Very nice but some of the small hardware attaching the 4 V-shaped holders for the bikes stripped pretty easily. Probably 3 out of the 8 provided. Screws stripped before I could snug them up. Not sure if it is the locking nut or bolt/screw that stripped. Asked vendor to replace the small hardware on 10/28/26 for replacement of defective hardware. The entire carrier is strong and well designed. As another reviewer stated the assembly instructions are not the best. I agree. Tool sizes needed to assemble in instructions would have been nice, such as 24mm and 18mm box wrenches, and other metric sizes. Phone number in instruction manual is no good. Will be using it in a few days and will modify review if something changes. Update 4/30. Customer service was very prompt in assisting with sending out the replacement hardware. 👍 4 to now 5 stars.

*update* RUST ALERT! Good for 2, maybe 3 bikes
***3rd UPDATE *** I tried fitting 3 mountain bikes and they do fit and 4 may be possible although I probably won't do it with more expensive bikes and risk them getting banged up or scratched. If you're buying a lock for this, make sure you get the 1/2 inch one. The 5/8" fits my tow hitch but it DOES NOT fit this rack. I learned that the hard way and assumed it was good. The length should also be at least be 3". ***UPDATE! RUST STARTING TO SHOW*** I added a few pictures of the nooks and crannies showing rust. These places weren't scratched or damaged but more than likely were not painted properly during manufacturing. It's a minor "repair" via a good can of anti-rust spray paint but I didn't expect to be doing that until a year or so down the line. It's still a good product IMO but hopefully this was a one-off and not a reflection of their whole product. **************************************************** Although it's advertised as a rack for 4 bikes, I think it's a tight fit for adult-sized ones. I'm only using it for 2 and I place it on the edges and leave the middle unused. It was fairly easy to install even for one person but you would need an allen wrench to tighten some of the screws. It's sturdy and looks like it'll last for a long time. Although it doesn't come with a lock for the rack itself, I ordered a separate one to make sure this doesn't go missing while I'm parked and biking around. The bikes are placed on top of a rubber/hard plastic "filling" to protect it from scratches. They are held in place by 2 "velcro" straps which are quite strong and will keep the bikes secure while you're traveling to your destination. Since these will pretty much be exposed to the elements, I'm expecting these straps to last only a year or two. It's easily replaceable with bungee cords or straps which I also ordered to use as an additional "back up" strap for my peace of mind. Overall, if you're only using this for 2 or 3 bikes, it's well worth the money.

Best hitch carrier? YES!
Best bike carrier for the price in my opinion. Hands down 100 times better than I expected. Steel is HEAVY DUTY! Could do pull-ups off of it if you wanted. No issues whatsoever so ever carrying our 2 e-bikes and regular bike. So glad I saw this before purchasing one of the flat carriers. Bikes secure very nicely once in place. Very compact when folded for easy storage. Installation is straightforward. Buy it!

Shockingly Impressive
Don't often write reviews, but I just want to throw this out there cause I would've wanted to read it. Overall quality and assembly: I expected this to be lower-quality, I was wrong. This thing is heavy, solid steel, with really solid welds. The bolts holding this thing together are substantial to say the least and all the nuts are locking which is awesome. With that, I would STRONGLY ADVISE that you own a socket set and adjustable wrench at the very least. I used an impact on mine (especially for the main support bolt, but I'm sure that's overkill. Everything else: Really don't have anything bad to say, it folds out of the way perfectly and easily, and its sturdy as any other yakima rack I've owned. The biggest difference I think you'll see when comparing a higher-cost product is the mechanism to strap the bikes down. These use velcro with a V-shaped rubber grip, I found it harder to get around the unique frames, but once I aligned it right they fit snugly. I was worried about the velcro, but it held my bikes at 80 mph with extremely minimal movement so I am happy. I have some heavy beach cruisers and as you'll see in the video they really don't waver much at all. It isn't loud and clanging around either, didn't hear a thing. I saw a couple people say that it made some noise, but i think using the impact reduced it all the way. overall this is a great product for a crazy good price. highly recommend

Solidly built but missing parts and not a good choice for us Wrangler owners
This thing is heavy! But that's not necessarily a bad thing as it is also very sturdy. Putting it together was pretty simple where the most work comes from screwing the bike holder parts to the frame. To make it MUCH easier you will need a socket of a couple different varieties to tighten them up. It fits the bikes really well and holds them in place and the top part locks into place with a pin holder and you can remove the pin to fold it down when you don't have any bikes attached. Ok so here's why I gave it only 3 stars. First, this thing is a PAIN to attach to your hitch on your vehicle. It slides in just fine but trying to line up the holes to push the huge screw through is tough and what makes it even tougher is the fact that the screw slides in about haldway then you have to screw it the rest of the way. I had to get a pair of pliers to unscrew it to remove the rack. OH! And one cool feature this has is the ability to remove another pin on the bottom and the rack folding down away from the back of your vehicle so you can open your back gate and access the inside of your car. It only folds about a quarter of the way down though......and I own a Jeep Wrangler where the back door swings out to the side and doesn't open upwards like alot of suv's. This would have been nice to know before I had bought it. Because of this I cannot open the tailgate without removing the entire heavy rack.....that is screwed in that requires a pair of pliers to remove. Basically this thing is a pain in the butt to take off once you have it on. If you have a regular upward opening back gate then it probably won't be much of an issue for you. Oh and the one other gripe I had was that a set of screws was missing so I could only attach 3 of the 4 bike holders to the frame. Not a huge deal as I can just run over to home depot and get some but when you buy a product, you want the complete product. All in all I think this thing will last a good long time as it is built very well and if I can find someone with a metal cutter I can probably jimmy rig this thing to fold more than a quarter of the way down to get my gate open! Oh and one last thing, if you do own a Wrangler and still plan on buying this you better not have tires bigger than the stock Sahara tires. If you went and got those huge tires the rack will not fully slide into the hitch as the tire will block it from sliding back. Mine just barely made it.

Good for the money but could be better. I'd buy again
Could be better, but it's already pretty good. It does what it says surprisingly well and it's easy to put together with no instructions. As for things I would improve there are a few but not major, or at least they would probably matter more to me than to others. 1-longer bike Velcro straps. I have a very wide bike frame so I had to use my own Velcro straps. Kinda sucks, whatever. Works fine for typical bikes with what's included. 2-the extra features like changing positions of the rack are not super easy, you have to pull out a pin, then wiggle the whole device until the long bolts slide out. It can take around 20-30 seconds so it's still a rapid change just not quick enough imo. At least it's sturdy. 3-better security would be nice. The mounting holes for the hitch rack are non-standard usually you have the typical 1/2" and 5/8" or whatever on a hitch. Those hole sizes can offer security with a lock. I have a hitch lock that has the typical two hitch hole sizes I could have used if the rack followed those standards, but unfortunately the holes on the rack are smaller and feature a screw able bolt and instead. If you want that added security you will have to drill a corresponding hole into your bike rack to accommodate a hitch lock. This is something I would highly recommend for those long trips with bikes on the back if you plan on parking at a hotel and leaving bikes outside locked with an expensive high carbon strength steel chain wrapped around your hitch and bikes....which is what I'd do. Beats carrying them up the stairs. Don't forget to store the seat in the car. There is an Italian brand with 12mm square steel links for a chain that is virtually impossible to break into with industrial snippers. Very expensive. I would personally go with equal strength rounded links of towing chain with cheaper Chinese brand. You'd need a loud rotary tool to cut through either chain rapidly. Or a manual handsaw with a good blade and a lot of time to cut through. Time which a thief does not have. And can't risk the noise. So yeah...I park my car in odd locations sometimes so security is a must for me. At Mexico/us border I often have to leave the vehicle unattended for an hour or two around people I don't trust. Security always a must.

Outstanding basic bike rack at this price point!
This is an excellent value item. In this price range it is incredible. Very sturdy yet folds up super small for storage. Heavy/steel but this would cost triple if made of aluminum. Side brackets are nice and wide. Bikes sit on rubber v-wedges that have recessed screws (rack should never scratch bikes unlike some have said. Warning: if you’re not handy and lack common sense, this isn’t the rack for you! Buy a much more expensive one! You will need Allen wrenches, a #3phillips, a nice socket set, and a nice wrench set to assemble this quality item. If you don’t have these tools...find someone who does. 20 min tips to assemble and put on if you’re a handy person and you have the tools ready. Very, very happy with this item for this price point!!!! Also: not for children’s classic women’s and many children’s bikes really—the bike needs a straight bar to hang it on this carrier. Make sure your bikes are of the proper design—if not, you’ll need something else to carry them!!! Also not for off-roaring and bikes may need additional straps/padding depending where your driving and the road work ahead, uh yeah, i sure HOPE IT DOES conditions. It is heavy-ish (I ballpark it at around 20 pounds) and it’s steel BUT it folds up small and it’s an excellent BASIC bike rack design. I found one that’s more advanced /cradle type and will haul almost anything with two wheels—-but that one’s $200 and worth every penny, too. It’s all about what your looking for. But, tighten everything down on this baby, bungee some padding on, and off down the road You may go! Also, has bolts that tighten it up against a 2” receiver so there is minimal “wiggle.” AGAIN—if you’re NOT comfy around a 3/8 inch socket set, Allen wrenches, and you don’t know what a #3 Phillips is, this probs ain’t for you my friend. Go buy the $200 one. Are there better racks out there? Yes absolutely. At this price point? I don’t think anything comes close!!!

Surprisingly Sturdy!
I have used this bike mount for about a year. I have used it to transport 4 bikes with no issue, but the big test was taking two VERY heavy e-bikes to the mountains about 5 hours away. The mount exceeded my expectations, and held the e-bikes firmly. The only issue is that the provided straps are a little bit short for thicker frames. I simply used a tie-down strap to secure the e-bikes to the mount, and it worked great! I've recommended this mount to my co-workers and friends as a low-cost option for transporting bikes!

Excellent product!!!
Really nice bike rack - very HAPPY with this purchase. I was a little worried with the other reviews about the rack being for men's straight bar to hold on rack properly. We put both hubby's bike on and my bike which has the woman's slant bar and it works just fine. We were worried that the angle wouldn't work but it is perfect. My only mistake was I tightened the rubber holders for the bikes wayyyyy too tight and went right through - just tighten to snug - totally MY MISTAKE:) When we get to where we want to ride we just simple pop the hitch off and put into the back of our SUV so no one steals the hitch and bike rack. And yes the velcro straps work just fine, but obviously anyone would be able to steal your bikes no problem. We just don't leave our bikes unattended - no biggie:) Great rack for the price and for our needs - thanks:)

Worth the money
Worth the price, not sure what if it can carry 4 full size bikes. But good for a family.
