I know there is no scheduled delivery; But I'm aiming for Tues 9/10/13. When should I order? Overnight shipping is OK.

Anytime up until 11AM pacific time on Monday, however to be sure there isn't a mixup (address, payment, order transfer to florist, anything is possible), I would do it the Friday before until Sunday evening to make sure the EDI (ELECTRONIC DATA) has been sent for shipment. I know this is from '13 however I wanted to help anyone that might also read this for the future.* PS for Mothers Day, Valentines Day you will see orders fly off the handle, so have a backup choice just in case.

I see that the instructions online say how to take care of flowers but does the recipient receive instructions as well?

Yes, there is a care and handling card included with each order.

can you pick a delivery date

No, that is the only issue that I can see with this. Being that they are flowers, you don't want them to sit outside for an exorbitant amount of time and being able to plan prior to purchasing would be ideal.

Ordered these for a birthday on friday, but were delivered very early (tuesday). will it be a problem if she doesn't open them until friday?

From the past orders I’ve experienced I would say yes shelf life is not that great
