A Study of Taijiquan

Great Book.
I read a lot of books on Martial Arts and Internal Energy. The lives of the Masters are alway inspiring. I especially likethe biographical information in this book.Every book on the Internal Arts provides keys and insightinto these Arts. This one surely does not disappoint. If researching these Arts is important to you outside of fidelityto the Art itself; add this to your library. It gives nuancesthat a part of a larger whole.

Met my expectations
I knew going in it wouldn't be exactly what I needed - I'm learning the 73 Competition Form, and this teaches the original 98 Form, but it certainly is a big help. Each teacher seems to put their unique twist on the Form, so it's hard to find a book/video teaching exactly the way I'm being taught.I felt the translation of Sun's book was excellent-thorough and very clear. Well done, Tim Cartmell! There's a whole section on Push Hands, which I'm not interested in learning right now, but it was still a good investment for me.Overall, with so little information available about Sun Style Taijiquan, I felt this was an excellent resource and a book that I can go back to again and again to refine my postures.

This is an important book for any Sun Style Tai Chi Practitioner!
This book details the life of Sun LuTang, the founder of Sun style Tai Chi. It gives his history which is fascinating and gives insight into the Sun style. Then the detailed comments of the whole Sun 98 are given and are very helpful to one who is studying Sun style Tai Chi. I practice Sun 73 and the information in this book helps me practice the Sun 73. I like the book and enjoy learning more about Mr Sun.

Good reference book
Great summary of Sun Lutang's life & contributions. Talks a lot about where the energy comes from. A little hard to follow because of terms used and limited pictures for learning moves.Arrived at described in very good condition and timely manner. I will choose to purchase from vendor again. I recommend.

Another Cartmell gem
I own several Tim Cartmell books, and they are all excellent. He is a very good writer and (from my intermediate knowledge of Chinese) a very good translator. I have had two excellent teachers of Chinese martial arts. One is a good writer but not a very good translator. The other is an excellent translator but an unpolished writer. Being able to do both well certainly creates a superior translation.

Great read. Lots of guidance.
This book is a great read. The life of Sun Lutang is interesting and inspiring. The descriptions of each move in the form are clear and takes the student through step by step. It is one of those books you return to again and again for guidance.

Sun Style Tai Chi
This is the style that I am studying, I like to know as much about it as I can find, who created it and why, what's it made up of. Sun Lutang was an amazing man and his style suits me with my background.

great tai chi book for the bookshelf
Excellent book about Tai Chi. Photographs are old as one would expect, however the information is invaluable to all students. Includes historical information also.
