This is my current "favorite cook book of all time"! (Remains so 1 yr later) (and still 2 years later) (and still 3 years later
This is my current "favorite cook book of all time". It is not only full of wonderful food, it is truly a work of art. The photography and layout alone are amazing. The first few recipes we have tried exceeded our expectations. Last night we tried the Goulash Soup and invited family members to join us. It was wonderful.Looking at the photography and the layout of the book, I can only imagine how much thought and hard work went into creating this book.My family and I are looking forward to creating every recipe in the book. We live in the Santa Cruz mountains and it seems to fit so well.A simply amazing work. Lizzie Kamenetzky and the design and editing team are all to be congratulated.By the way, I am a Williams-Sonoma, Inc. employee.Second Update: It is now one full year later. We have purchased several additional copies and given them as gifts. We are about 12 dishes into the book and have several more planned for the holidays. Love it Love it Love it. Wish we know of a way to contact the author and tell them how much we enjoy their creation!Third Update: It is now 3 years later and we continue to ENJOY this book. It is still our #1 of all time. The only reason we have not tried every recipe in the book in 3 years is because we keep repeating the ones we have already done! Last night we cooked the Bourbon Ribs for the first time. Don't know how that got by us for so long. Amazing!

This is the best cookbook I've read in years
This is the best cookbook I've read in years. I enjoyed it so much, I read through the entire book this evening. The writing is lovely, the descriptions and photos of the food mouthwatering, and the landscape photos of mountains and chalets really beautiful. Feeling super inspired to create some delicious comfort food in the European mountain tradition for my family this winter!I found this book at my local library but loved it so much I'm ordering two copies to give to my friend and s.i.l. as Christmas gifts.

Mmmmmm Cheese and Meat.
Every recipe in this fantastic book is a good reason to spend the day freezing half to death. It's beautifully put together and loaded with meals I spend most of the year looking forward to eating by wishing away the summer. I made a couple of the dishes on a hot May afternoon and noticed no ill effects whatsoever. Couldn't recommend it more.

One of the best
I’m somewhat of a cookbook addict, and this is one of my favourites; I go back to it again and again. Lots of wintery inspiration and the Rocky Mountain Stew is now a regular family favourite.

Makes me pine for an Alp
Pure food porn. Will probably cook a couple of recipes and then just ogle the other meals and views. Perfect for winter in front of a log fire.

Winter food and dreams.
Gorgeous photographs, and my kind of food. Gives me joy in the dark, Winter months, when cooking the recipes, or simply looking at the pictures, whilst sitting in front of our log fire. Also reminds me of our times in Switzerland. We live in the rural Scottish Highlands.
