Appear to keep crawlies out. Not so great for flies.
Overall very pleased. Ants were the problem. Looks like they called in the luftwaffe though. And im sure a bug with long legs or pole jumping ability wouldnt find it hard to defeat the intended defense here. In fact, i pray im not promoting increased, problem solving intelligence among the enemy. Damn Darwin was right! They WILL find a way given enough time! Probably stand on each other like the italian gymnasts and make a bug pyramid to get to the goodies.

A wonderful thing!
Like a lot of people, we get ants in the summer. They find their way straight to the cat bowl.No surprise but our cat does NOT like ants in his food!In the past I'd made do by putting the dish inside a bigger dish and adding water to create a 'moat'. And that worked, unless the cat bumped the dish so it touched the edge... then the ants got in.I got tired of the moat float, so I had a look online for solutions and found this wonderful, simple invention. We've been using it for a couple months now and I've not seen a single ant in the dish. The cat is happy and it's way less of a hassle than the moat.Great purchase, no regrets.

TINY. So far (2 weeks in) keeping ants out, not skid proof.
I will pro/con this for you all:Pros First:1. Keeps the ants out so far, as long as I keep it away from the wall or the lip from the kitchen floor to the living room carpet.2. Surprisingly easy to clean. We mix in tuna, spinach, peas, carrots and sweet potatoes with our dogs’ food. With the hard plastic or even the copper bowls it was always a bit of a pain to clean out if I didn’t attack it right after they were done eating. However, these dishes… I don’t know why, but stuff just slides right off them, even if my ADHD gets the better of me and I forget to pick them up at night.3. They are very shiny and they look quite sharp. The anti-ant raised lip isn’t obvious, and they look relatively nice for what they are.4. I know others have listed the size as a detriment, but I’m using these for very small dogs, and although the food fills up the bowls, they are fastidious eaters, so it works for us and takes up less space than the bowls we had previously. I’m calling this a pro and a con.Cons:1. Skid-proof? In what universe? When my dogs are done eating, they lick their bowls and they slide those thing all over the kitchen. The bottoms are NOT pretty, but nobody really sees the bottoms, so I didn’t really dock them for that.2. The price. These things are ridiculously priced for what you get. As others have noted, they are light, thin, very small, and put together rather slipshod for the prices they are asking for them.3. The size really is insanely small. I feed the dogs 1/4 cup of dry dog food with about 1tbsp of mix-ins and another 2tsp of water. It fills the 1 cup bowls, where it really shouldn’t. *Technically* it *will* hold 1 cup, but it is full all the way to the brim and if you move too fast, you’re spilling, so it’s not 1 cup in any practical sense of the word.If pressed, I would say it’s probably 2/3 cup of usable space, maybe 3/4 Max.Conclusion:Although I can’t say for certain I would buy these bowls again, knowing what I know now, I can say they have done their jobs so far. However, it is the middle of winter and the tiny black ants that like to frequent our building seem to get pretty lazy when it’s cold. We’ll see how they perform in the summer when they are at their peak…

Not worth the money: doesn’t work at all
I wasn’t able to keep ants out of my regular bowl that I bought so I got this to try and solve the problem. It didn’t work at all! I was literally able to watch the ants crawl all the way around the outside to be able to get into the bowl for the food. I thought that it was just my cats kicking stuff and allowing stuff to touch the bowl thus allowing the ants easy access, but I was wrong. It wasn’t against a wall, didn’t have anything touching it, or anything else, but it still got ants very quickly. I now use it on a little plate and put water around the bowl base to create a moat, but it stinks I have to do that. I didn’t want a moat bowl because I didn’t want to have to fill it every day. But oh well, I guess.

Perfect for our feral kitty . Keeps the ants at bay .
Sturdy and easy to clean . It is small which is perfect for our feral cat . She has a hard time eating out of a larger dish .

Not Ant proof!
The media could not be loaded. This product did not do what it advertised. The ants have swarmed my cats bowl 3 times now. I think it deterred the ants but it didn’t keep them away permanently.

Cup is to very top
Felt like this was smaller than a cup. So I poured a cup of water and it went to the brim. I should have known better. Went with the 3 cup and very good. They both keep the ants away

Worked for us
Taking care of stray kittens (again) and needed something to protect the food from ants & other bugs since the kittens are outside on the porch. After much research (and finding that there is no one product that is perfect) I settled on trying this. We had zero issues with any bugs (except flies!) using this bowl. Even with the babies walking over it the bowl never dumped any food or fell over. The only thing I would caution about is the size. We bought the 1 cup version and it is TINY. Even 2 kittens at a time had a hard time eating together. This is not the fault of the bowl, I just didn't grasp how small it was. I cannot recommend the 1 cup bowl for use with wet food (it tends to smash against the bottom & edges making it hard to eat), but it's good for dry. I would definitely recommend buying a larger size unless it's for a hamster or something. :)Tip: if you have an ant problem tryTerro 1806 Outdoor Liquid Ant Baits. These things are amazing. We've been using them for years and our ant problems are ALWAYS cleared up within days. There are 2 other styles of the Terro so chose what would work best in your yard. Keep away from pets. :)
