Solid workaround for my 720p TV with a failed HDMI board. In my case, I paired this with an Amazon Fire TV Stick HD, and it produced a clear picture without issue. Setup was straightforward: (1) plug in and power all devices; (2) select the correct in/out setting on the converter (in my case, 1080p in / 720p out); and (3) adjust the screen format on your TV (in my case, set to "full"). While I didn't see it mentioned here, I've read elsewhere that devices which output to 4K may not work with converters like these - so if you are experiencing issues, I'd suggest confirming your streaming device is limited to a picture quality of 1080p. In all, an easy and relatively inexpensive fix for extending the life of an older HDTV.

Used this to connect newer gaming consoles to an HD CRT that doesn't have HDMI. Works very well. Video quality is great. Brightness and colors are as expected. I actually like using this and my Trinitron for modern gaming more than any newer LED TVs! For the price, it's a great value of a way to upgrade the functionality of a TV that doesn't have HDMI.

The converter works just fine but it requires access to an AC outlet for an adapter which is not shown in the picture or mentioned in the description of it in the listing. The picture is also confusing in that it appears to be two pieces stacked; however, it is really showing the front and back of the converter which is one piece.

I have an older LCD TV that the HDMI ports stopped working. This was the perfect solution! Plug and play right out of the box!!! Very satisfied, I really like the resolution adjustment button and that it projects the selected resolution on the screen. They did include the power supply which a lot of these don't. However I was able to plug into the USB on the TV to power it so I was very happy with that! I'm guessing the negative reviews are from people who have an older non-compatible TV.

I bought this to try to connect a Firestick to my old flat screen "enhanced definition" 720p tv that has no HDMI input, just component video inputs. Couldn't get it to work so I gave 3/5 stars. Not sure if it is this converter box or the TV though the specifications suggest it should work.

I don't know if I got a bad one, but I tried this with four different Roku players ranging from five years to six months old and on a Sony Bluray player. It did not work on any of them. I tried all the resolutions, with different HDMI and component cables I know are good because I am using them on other devices. I tried everything on two different Sony TV' sets. Changing the resolution produced no changes. I tried holding the resolution button down longer, etc., to no avail. The screen would either stay blank or display vertical wide bands of different colors. The best I was able to get was a screen split in half, with a fuzzy picture showing a duplicate image on the left and right halves of the screen. I even tried switching the order of the green-blue-red component cables, just in case they were mislabeled on this converter at the factory. After a couple of hours of trying different cables and devices and different ways, I gave up and decided return it because I couldn't think of anything else left to try. I am very good at this kind of thing, so I don't see what I could have done wrong. Perhaps I got a unit that is bad, I don't know, but it did not work for me.

This component to HDMI converter works well on my 21 year old Audiovox TV.
